Chapter 155
"Matt never said he likes me."
After saying this, Lila suddenly smiled at Alexander, "Or are you saying that in my husband's eyes, I'm so beautiful and charming that any man should like me?"
He curved his lips slightly and responded, "Quite the opposite."
Hearing those four words, Lila knew nothing good would come out of this man's mouth.
So she didn't continue asking.
But even though she didn't ask, he volunteered, "I just can't figure out how someone as ordinary and plain as you manages to make so many men unable to forget you. If Miss Grace knows what advantages she has, why not share them to clear up my confusion?"
"You don't like me, so nothing about me looks good to you. But just because you don't like me doesn't mean I'm not worth being liked."
"Is that so? Then tell me, what makes you worth liking?"
Lila stared at him, and for a moment, she really wanted to make him open his eyes and see just how much she was worth being liked!
So she raised her hand to rest her chin on it, tilted her head slightly, and while smiling at him, even blinked, "Am I not pretty?"
The disdainful smile on Alexander's face froze slightly.
To be fair, Lila was very pretty.
This beauty also carried a touch of innocent charm that people would naturally like—the type that could be said to win favor from people of all ages and genders.
Maybe it really was as she said—because he didn't like her, he deliberately overlooked her good qualities.
But was it really her he didn't like?
Perhaps what he truly disliked was this marriage he was forced to accept.
As long as this marriage was forced upon him, whether it was Lila, or Lily, or anyone else, he wouldn't like them.
A moment later, Alexander snapped back and countered, "So what if you're pretty?"
Lila immediately broke into a smile, "See? You're the CEO of a multinational corporation who's met so many beautiful women, but even so, you still think I'm pretty. This proves I'm not just ordinarily pretty."
Alexander's face immediately darkened.
How did he feel like he'd walked into a trap?
Lila continued smugly, "Beauty is a woman's weapon, didn't you know? Not even mentioning all my additional advantages like being kind-hearted, polite, and respectful—just based on being pretty alone, many people will like me at first sight, because we live in an era where looks matter!"
Alexander couldn't think of anything to refute for a moment.
She was quite smart.
Or rather, this woman had always been smart.
She had plans for her career, knew how to act appropriately around him, and now he'd discovered another advantage—her self-awareness was pretty accurate.
Lila looked at Alexander, who clearly enjoyed mocking her but was now silent, and her lips curved slightly, "Why aren't you saying anything? Do you think everything I said is right?"
"So what if it's right? You're still far from being worthy of me."
"When did I ever say I wanted to be worthy of you?"
Alexander frowned.
Lila spoke casually, "After one year, I'm going to divorce you without looking back, never have any contact with you again, forget everything about being your wife, and start fresh!"
Listening to her words, anger surged up inside him.
Finally, Alexander spoke through gritted teeth, "Lila, no matter what, I'm the most charming man in the eyes of countless socialites in Oceancrest City, wealthy, good-looking. How come in your words, eyes, and heart, I seem worthless?"
"Because you're not good to me."
"How am I not good to you? You wanted to develop feelings with me and I agreed. You don't want me to sleep with you and I compromised. What more do you want?"
Lila stared at him, and after who knows how long, she finally spoke in a muffled voice, "You don't like me."
