Chapter 154
After Alexander finished speaking, Robert responded, "You've got it wrong. I'm just worried about Lila. But seeing that she married such a handsome husband who graduated from a top university, I think Lila didn't choose the wrong person, so I'm relieved."
Alexander looked at him coldly, "What gives you the right to feel relieved?"
Robert said, "Lila and I have known each other since we were kids. I've always treated her like a little sister."
He laughed lightly, full of disdain, "Little sister?"
Lila felt like Alexander looked ready to punch someone, so she quickly interrupted their conversation and said to Robert, "Rob, my grandma is making spaghetti with meat sauce for lunch. Do you want to stay and eat?"
"No need, I still have things to do. I'll be going now. Lila, I wish you and your husband a happy relationship."
"Thanks, Rob."
Robert smiled, nodded at Alexander, and turned to leave.
As soon as he left, Lila turned sideways, stepped out of Alexander's embrace, and stared at him with some dissatisfaction in her eyes.
Alexander frowned at her and asked, "What's with that look?"
"Who said I'm head over heels in love with you?"
"You."
Lila denied it without thinking, "I'm not."
Alexander scoffed dismissively, "Really? Then go chase after him now and explain it to your Rob."
She frowned and turned back to sit down on the stone bench.
Alexander soon walked over too, and after sitting down, he looked at her and asked, "Is he the doctor that Grandma mentioned?"
Lila gave a faint acknowledgment.
To her surprise, Alexander dismissed him with contempt, "Looking like that, how dare he compare himself to me?"
Lila was once again shocked by Alexander's narcissism.
She frowned slightly, "Then you go to the kitchen and tell Grandma not to compare Rob with you."
Alexander's lazy gaze fell on her face, "Talking back to me again? Have you completely forgotten about the marriage agreement?"
"No, I remember it all. But you must have forgotten most of it, right? Otherwise, why would you tell Rob that you're my husband? Didn't you say not to expose our relationship?"
"Yes, I told you not to expose it. That doesn't mean I can't expose it."
Lila was speechless.
At that moment, Grandma came out of the kitchen and looked at them, "Who was just here?"
"The doctor came. He brought us some homemade sausages from his family."
"Rob is a good person. After graduating, he came back to town and has made quite a few contributions here."
Lila smiled, "Yes, there aren't many young people like Rob who care about their hometown's development."
Alexander listened to them praising someone else with an indifferent expression.
The old lady heard the water boiling in the kitchen and said to Lila, "The water's boiling. I'll go cook the noodles. Lunch will be ready soon."
She responded, "Okay, Grandma."
As soon as the old lady returned to the kitchen, Alexander's meaningful gaze fell on Lila again, looking her up and down as if admiring something.
Lila felt uncomfortable under his gaze and frowned slightly, "Why are you staring at me?"
Alexander scoffed, "I'm just very surprised."
"Surprised about what?"
"Surprised that Miss Grace has so many admirers."
Lila was very confused by Alexander's words.
What was he talking about?
While Lila was at a loss for words, Alexander said coolly, "Ethan, Chris, your Matt, Robert—when Miss Grace has time, you could gather these guys together for a game of Texas Hold'em."
She immediately frowned and reminded him, "Don't talk nonsense. Ethan and I are just classmates, and Rob is just a friend I grew up with. It's not the kind of relationship you're imagining."
"Really? Then what about Chris and your Matt?"
