Chapter 146
Alexander didn't care at all. He was even angry that she had mentioned his former lover.
He didn't even bother carrying Lila to the bed or sofa. He just put her down on the bedroom floor, turned around without a word, and left without any hesitation.
Lila stared at Alexander's retreating figure, her fair face completely expressionless.
She had thought that since Alexander brought up Celeste himself when they were talking about Julie, she could mention her too. But she hadn't expected that in his eyes, she had no right to do so at all.
Even though she only mentioned it casually during their conversation, without saying anything bad about Celeste or prying into their past.
She remembered that night at the business dinner when someone mentioned "Miss Phillips," he almost lost his temper but still maintained some dignity.
But today when she mentioned "Miss Phillips," he completely lost it, showing her no respect at all.
It seemed that in Alexander's eyes, her position as his legal wife was worth even less than his business partners.
Actually, that made sense. Business partners could bring him money and benefits. What could she bring him?
In this Island Mansion villa, the only value she could provide was probably the same as a housekeeper's—cooking meals, right?
How ridiculous.
Celeste was Alexander's forbidden zone.
Miss Phillips was her forbidden word.
Lila quietly made a mental note.
From now on, she would never mention it again.
The next day.
Lila got up as usual to make breakfast.
Just as breakfast was ready, she heard Alexander coming downstairs.
As Lila looked up, he was already walking toward the dining room.
She lowered her head and silently picked up her utensils to eat.
After Alexander came in, he sat down gracefully in his usual seat.
The breakfast was very quiet.
Near the end of the meal, Lila heard Alexander speak, "Send me the location of the town where your grandmother lives."
She had promised him. She mechanically picked up her phone and sent him the location.
Alexander stood up, "I'll wait for you outside."
Lila didn't say anything. After he left, she cleaned up the dining room and went to the kitchen to wash the dishes.
After finishing, she went upstairs to change clothes, grabbed her bag, and went out.
When Lila walked into the yard, she saw Alexander standing by the car on the phone.
He had one hand in his pants pocket, looking serious, nodding from time to time, occasionally responding, his whole body giving off a cold, noble air—distant and aloof.
She looked away and walked to the driver's side door, pulling the handle only to find the car was still locked.
Lila looked up at Alexander.
He had finished his call and was walking toward her with long strides.
When Alexander saw her standing by the driver's door, he reached out to pull her.
Seeing him about to touch her, Lila instinctively pulled her arm back, avoiding his touch. Then she looked up at him and said flatly, "Mr. Sinclair, if you have something to say, just say it. Don't get handsy."
Alexander raised his eyebrows, his tone rising with surprise, "Mr. Sinclair?"
She didn't respond to that, only saying, "It's getting late. Unlock the car and let's go."
"It's the weekend today. There'll be a lot of traffic. I'll drive, you go to the passenger seat."
"Got it."
After saying this, she was about to walk to the passenger side, but her wrist was suddenly grabbed.
Lila turned back to look at him and asked casually, "What's wrong?"
Alexander stepped closer to her, looking down at her, demanding, "Are you planning to keep calling me Mr. Sinclair when we get to your grandmother's place?"
She pressed her lips together, "I'll handle it based on the situation."
He frowned, "What's wrong with you?"
Lila smiled, "Nothing's wrong."
Alexander scoffed, clearly not believing her, looking at her as if settling a score, "Nothing's wrong and you're calling me Mr. Sinclair? You've been calling me 'darling' for so long, still not used to it?"
