Chapter 135
Seeing that something was off with her, Ethan asked, "Lila, is the steak overcooked? Too tough to chew?"
She froze for a moment, then quickly smiled, "No, it's very tender, very delicious."
With that, Lila hurried to swallow it down.
His mom also smiled, "Lila, our Ethan is such a thoughtful gentleman. After you marry into our family, he'll definitely treat you well forever."
Lila gave an awkward smile and didn't respond.
Ethan spoke up at the right moment, "Mom, let's just eat."
Ethan's mom nodded with a smile, "Okay, okay."
Lila could tell that Ethan's parents really liked her.
But this affection made her feel both guilty and pressured.
If they knew she was just a fake girlfriend Ethan had brought along to deal with them, how disappointed would Ethan's dad and mom be?
Ethan really shouldn't have done this kind of deceptive thing. Why couldn't he just be honest with them?
She could see that Ethan's parents weren't unreasonable people at all.
Fifty minutes later, the meal finally ended.
After paying the bill, they left the private room together. Ethan's parents walked ahead, while Lila and Ethan followed behind.
As Lila left the private room, she was thinking that the meal was finally over and she was free at last. But just as she breathed a sigh of relief, she heard a familiar voice—
"Mr. Caldwell brought Mrs. Caldwell out to eat?"
As Alexander spoke, his gaze fell on Lila with an unreadable expression.
Lila lowered her head.
Ethan's dad responded, "Yes, Mr. Sinclair is here for dinner too?"
"Yeah."
Ethan's dad looked at Ethan's mom with a smile, "What a coincidence, right?"
Ethan's mom nodded repeatedly and pulled Ethan over to her side, "Mr. Sinclair, this is my son Ethan, and this is his girlfriend Lila. We're mainly here today to treat Ethan's girlfriend to dinner. Our son kept saying he had a girlfriend, and we wanted to meet her. We didn't expect to run into Mr. Sinclair too. This place must be really good."
In that moment, Lila wanted to die.
She had thought that running into Alexander was one thing—as long as he didn't notice her, it would be fine. Then when Alexander greeted Ethan's dad, she was thinking about how to explain why she was having dinner with Ethan's parents if he asked. But Ethan's mom had just laid everything out in a few sentences.
Now there was no way she could explain this away.
Ethan also spoke up, "Mom, Mr. Sinclair is Lila's boss. Lila knows him."
"Oh? Really?"
"Yes, Lila is Mr. Sinclair's driver."
Lila, "..."
Ethan was really going to be the death of her.
However, that wasn't even the worst part.
The worst part was when Julie spoke up with a confused look, "Mr. Sinclair, isn't Miss Grace your..."
Before she could finish, Alexander cut her off, "Miss Baker, let's go."
Lila instinctively glanced at Alexander.
What was he doing?
He actually stopped Julie from exposing their relationship?
For the first time, Lila felt that Alexander was so hard to read!
Julie listened to him obediently, nodding at him as docile as a little lamb, and when she spoke, she smiled very sweetly, "Okay."
"Let's go together," Ethan's dad said.
Lila felt utterly hopeless.
Go together?
She was definitely doomed today!
After leaving the restaurant, the group stood together.
Ethan's mom looked at Ethan and said, "Ethan, you take Lila home. Your dad and I will head back first."
"Okay, drive carefully."
"Don't worry, your dad and I are so happy that you've found such a beautiful and sensible girlfriend. We'll definitely drive carefully. I still need to discuss with your dad how to plan your wedding with Lila. She's so wonderful, we must throw the grandest wedding for her."
Lila was speechless.
Please just leave and give me a way out!
