Chapter 95 Apex Global Enterprises Anniversary Celebration

Indoor Playground

Simon was diving headfirst into the ball pit, while Diana and Juniper chilled nearby, sipping on their coffees and keeping an eye on him.

"So, how's life treating you in Evergreen City?" Juniper asked, giving her a once-over with a smile.

"It's way drier here than Velvet City. My throat was all scratchy for the first few days," Diana said, taking another sip.

"Yeah, I get that." Juniper sighed. "Henry's been hitting up dinners and social events every night lately. Dude even reeks of booze when he talks. If he keeps this up, he's gonna wreck his health."

Diana just looked down, staying quiet.

Juniper chuckled, "Got any plans for the day after tomorrow?"

"Nope."

Diana had been pretty much holed up in her apartment.

"Apex Global Enterprises is throwing their anniversary bash. Wanna come?" Juniper asked.

Diana blinked, caught off guard. "That sounds super fancy. I don't think I belong there."

In Evergreen City, you couldn't miss the hype for Apex Global's anniversary. Only the inner circle, some journos, and big shots got invites. Diana felt way out of her league.

"The daytime stuff is just a press conference, kinda boring. But the evening banquet? That's where the fun's at," Juniper said, grinning.

"I might..."

Diana was about to decline, but Juniper's face got serious. "What? You gonna ghost me just 'cause you're beefing with Henry?"

"That's not it."

"Come on, just keep me company. If it sucks, I'll take you home."

"Grandma, what are you talking about?" Simon ran over, all sweaty.

"I'm trying to get Diana to come, but she's playing hard to get," Juniper said, faking disappointment.

"Why?" Simon looked at Diana, puzzled. "Diana, don't you like hanging out with my grandma?"

Juniper used a carrot and stick approach, and Diana couldn't refuse, so she had to agree.

When Elodie heard about it, she couldn't stop laughing. "You can't stand Henry, but you're tight with his mom?"

"Can you ask Juniper to bring me too? I heard a ton of celebs and big shots are gonna be there."

Diana felt stuck, but figured she could use the Apex Global party to finally talk to Henry and end things.

The Day of the Apex Global Enterprises Anniversary Bash

Even though it was early fall, it was still blazing hot.

Juniper sent someone to pick up Diana bright and early, whisking her off for a beauty treatment, then dragging her to get her makeup and dress sorted. The luxury store staff knew Juniper well and were surprised to see her with a new face.

"Help her pick out a well-fitting outfit," Juniper said, lounging on the sofa.

The stylist picked out a sapphire blue dress for Diana. The fabric was top-notch, making her look stunning.

"Uh, I'm not really into makeup," Diana told the makeup artist.

"Don't worry, our stuff is super safe, even for pregnant women. And we use disposable brushes," the makeup artist assured her, thinking Diana was worried about hygiene.

Diana relaxed and let them do their thing. With her great skin, a light touch was all she needed.

Meanwhile, the TV was buzzing with news about the Apex Global anniversary. The daytime press conference was getting major coverage from all the big media outlets.

Henry strutted into the spotlight for the first time, rocking a black suit and oozing confidence.

Some folks are just born to lead. Every little move he made had people eating out of his hand. Online, everyone was buzzing about him.

[Mr. Spencer is so hot!]

[He's my dream guy. I'm totally into him.]

As Diana headed to the evening shindig, she casually scrolled through the comments and saw a bunch of pics of Henry. Some were pretty flattering, and she couldn't help but save a few.

The evening bash for Apex Global Enterprises' anniversary was at one of their swanky resort hotels. The place screamed luxury and money.

The Windsor family hadn't exactly rolled out the red carpet for Diana, but Celeste would drag her to these events to keep up appearances.

Seeing the opulence around her, Diana finally got what it meant to be part of a top-tier wealthy family.

Diana and Juniper walked in together, instantly turning heads.

There were reporters around, but they didn't dare snap random pics.

"Mrs. Spencer, we've been waiting for you," a group of rich ladies and socialites said, smiling as they approached.

They were talking to Juniper but kept sneaking glances at Diana. The gossip about her and Henry was already out there.

Since Henry got back to Evergreen City, rumors about them had died down. Everyone thought Henry had ditched her, but here she was, rolling in with Juniper.

Juniper was a force to be reckoned with. In the Spencer family, she didn't need to suck up to anyone, but she was looking out for Diana, which was a shocker.

Clara and Oliver had shown up early. When they saw Diana walk in, they were both floored. One looked amazed, the other looked like they were about to explode, clutching their bag so hard their knuckles turned white.

Diana had been MIA for a while, and Clara thought Henry had finally dumped her. She didn't expect Diana to show up here.

Juniper was chatting with someone when she noticed Diana looking pale. She asked quietly, "What's up? Feeling out of place? Want me to get someone to take you to the lounge?"

"You go ahead. I'll just hit the restroom."

The mix of perfumes and makeup smells from all the rich ladies was making her queasy.

Diana found a quiet restroom and dry-heaved for a bit until she felt better.

When she came out, she unexpectedly ran into Oliver. She had no idea how long he'd been standing there, staring at her. "You sick?"

"No."

"Then you are..."

Oliver didn't want to think about it, trying to convince himself it couldn't be what he was imagining.

"What happens to me is none of your business," Diana shot back.

"You look stunning today."

Since she showed up, Oliver couldn't take his eyes off her. Maybe guys were just like that, not appreciating what they had and acting all heartbroken after losing it.

Diana was unimpressed. As she tried to leave, Oliver blocked her path.

"Mr. Smith, aren't you worried about pissing off Ms. Spencer by messing with me?"

Oliver's eyes darkened. After a long pause, he just said, "Take care of yourself."

Diana ignored him and walked away.

In the corner, a pair of sinister eyes had seen everything.

On his way from the press conference to the banquet, Henry found out Diana was there because Bethany kept blowing up the group chat:

[Guys, Diana's at the Apex Global Enterprises party. Get here quick. I'm not kidding. If you wanna see Diana, don't miss it.]
