Chapter 35 Not a Stranger
At first, Weylin wanted to go straight to Kelsey to ask why the woman had left him when she was pregnant.
However, when he saw Kelsey looking busy with her work, he chose to cancel his intention and then left the office. He drove his car impatiently to Aiden's school.
Even so, he knew he had to restrain himself from telling Aiden the truth. At least for now, he had to suppress his selfishness. He should not act carelessly because he could even be kept away from his only son.
As Aiden emerged from there and jogged towards him with a smile on his lips, Weylin immediately ran up and lifted the boy up high. Aiden was surprised but he didn't mind.
Weylin hugged his son so lovingly that Weylin himself was confused about what he was doing. He had even forgotten when he had last felt such overwhelming joy as he was right now.
"How was your day today, champ?" Weylin asked putting Aiden down and he then crouched down so his body could be level with Aiden's petite body.
"Super. I was learning to count, Uncle. How is work Uncle? Is it going well?" Aiden asked back.
Weylin stroked his son's hair gently and replied, “Very well. And now what do you plan to do?”
Little Aiden looked like he was thinking about something but then sighed, "I'm just bored, Uncle. Do you have any ideas?"
Weylin was naturally bewildered, he had never been too close to children so he had a bit of a hard time dealing with them.
"Hm. What is it? How about eating first? Do you want one?" Weylin asked while scratching the back of his head that didn't itch.
"Yes, Uncle."
Weylin smiled, "Sorry, Aiden. You still don't know what we can do."
Aiden smiled, "Yes, Uncle. It's fine."
Weylin felt regret for not learning first what a father usually does with his child. He had to remember next time to ask Arlen, his brother who already had two children. Even though Arlen's two children were girls, he could still ask him.
Weylin believed that Arlen's experience would be of great help to him later. However, before that he had something to do today.
"Aiden, What do you want to eat?" Weylin asked.
"Hm. How about eating the food that you like," Aiden replied with an innocent face.
Weylin furrowed his brows not understanding, "Why the food that I like?"
"To be fair. Yesterday you always ate and drank what I liked. Now it's Uncle's turn. I want to know what Uncle likes," little Aiden explained.
Weylin smiled gently. Isn't this son extraordinarily smart? He even already understands such things. Has his intelligence passed down to the Son? He suddenly felt proud to have passed on the smart gene to Aiden.
"You're amazing. Alright, let's just eat beef steak this time," Weylin said.
"Yes, Uncle. Okay," Aiden replied in agreement.
He also quite liked the food.
Kelsey felt her heart uneasy.
She herself did not understand what was happening to her. Since morning, she had been continuously making streak mistakes. Starting from sending wrong reports, writing wrong reports and many other things.
Therefore, she decided to calm herself that afternoon in the pantry without caring about her two friends forcing her to have lunch outside the office. She really had no appetite at all.
So, she felt it was better for her to be alone first. In fact, she ignored the messages coming on her cell phone that came from Gerald. She didn't know what made her so restless at this time.
"What's going on? Is something bad going to happen?" Kelsey muttered to herself.
As she closed her eyes, an image of Aiden appeared in her head.
"Aiden."
"Oh Lord, did something happen to him?" Kelsey muttered suddenly worried.
She quickly called her son's homeroom teacher to ask about her son. She called Rave while biting her nails nervously.
"Good afternoon Miss Raven, what is Aiden doing now?" Kelsey asked quickly
"Good afternoon, Mrs. Kelsey. Oh, it's Aiden out for lunch mom," Raven replied.
Kelsey asked again, "Lunch? With whom, ma'am? Why didn't I ask permission first?"
Raven, who received the call while cleaning up the children's toys, was immediately shocked, "Ma'am. Didn't Mr. Weylin have permission from Mother? He said he was a distant relative of Mother. She's .…”
Kelsey didn't hear wrong, did she? Her body stiffened suddenly. For a moment she couldn't make a sound. She was too shocked and confused at the same time.
"Miss Kelsey. Miss Kelsey ...."
"So Aiden is with Weylin, Mis?" Kelsey repeated now starting to limp.
The thing she feared had finally happened. However, she never expected that Weylin would act this fast.
"Yes, ma'am. Mr. Weylin has asked Aiden out several times. I'm sorry, ma'am. I didn't know. This was my fault. I really don't know if it turns out that he didn't ask your permission, ma'am," Raven said regretfully.
She felt careless for not cross-checking Kelsey before allowing Aiden to be taken by a stranger. What should she do now? What if something happened to Aiden? It would be a big problem if that happened.
"Several times?" Kelsey repeated feeling very stupid.
So he went to meet Aiden? No wonder he often disappears during lunch? Kelsey thought.
"Yes, ma'am. I'm sorry, I'm guilty. Should I just call the police now, ma'am? I'm afraid something will happen to Aiden,"
Raven said, who couldn't hide her anxiety anymore.
Kelsey was taken aback and immediately said, "Oh, that's not necessary Mom. It's fine. Aiden is safe with Weylin."
Raven of course was confused "Are you sure, ma'am?"
"Yes ma'am. No problem, I'll pick up Aiden later, let it go for now. I'll talk to Weylin later," Kelsey concluded.
Of course Raven was very relieved to hear that. However, it was a pity that her relief did not last long because Weylin never took Aiden back to school after recess was over.
Full of worry, Raven finally decided to contact Kelsey because she was not calm.
"Miss Kelsey, I'm sorry to bother you now. But, it's already this time but Mr. Weylin brought Aiden back to school, Ma'am. How's it going? Is it really safe, Ma'am?" Raven asked in a trembling voice.
Kelsey was somehow not surprised, she seemed to have expected that Weylin would do this.
"Miss Raven, take it easy. You don't need to worry," Kelsey said, who was now trying to calm Raven down.
Ravenvsaid, "How can I be calm when one of my students is still out there with strangers, Ma'am?"
Kelsey closed her eyes, irritated at Weylin who had made things even more complicated like this. If only that man was in front of her right now, she must have made the man's calculations.
She couldn't stop thinking, where was the brain of this man who was said to be smart? This really sucked, Kelsey thought.
"Look, Miss. Weylin is not a stranger. He is. He is Aiden's father," Kelsey said quietly, who was forced to tell the truth.
Raven, "...."
