Chapter 107
At the airport, Sophie saw Joshua holding two plane tickets and thought it was just the two of them going on a business trip, until Joshua handed the tickets to Matthew and took Matthew's suitcase from him.
"You and Mrs. Moore go rest. I'll handle everything else."
"Okay."
Matthew took Sophie's hand and walked toward the VIP lounge. Only then did Sophie realize - it wasn't him going on a business trip, it was them!
"I have to work!" Sophie looked at the destination on the ticket and her vision went dark - they were even going abroad!
Matthew put away the tickets. "I requested leave for you."
Sophie was speechless. "How could you request leave for me?"
And how did her boss even approve it?
"Honeymoon," Matthew said. "Your company's been unstable internally lately, and you've accumulated a lot of vacation days over the years. It's a good time to go out."
Sophie's eyes widened.
Honeymoon?
What the hell?
They were about to get divorced, and he wanted to go on a honeymoon?
Sophie wasn't prepared to go abroad at all. "I don't have a passport, I don't have anything."
"Since I'm taking you, you don't need to worry about these things."
Sophie thought about how, when they registered their marriage, he didn't need to go in person to get. Now she didn't have a passport, but he had ways to handle it. Rich people - could they really just do whatever they wanted?
"After the honeymoon, we'll do it when we get back."
This sentence swept away all the unhappiness in Sophie's heart.
Her eyes even lit up.
"Really?"
He could tell she was eager to get divorced. Matthew sat down and said nothing.
Sophie quickly sat beside him and asked urgently, "Is that what you mean?"
Matthew simply closed his eyes.
"Matthew!" Sophie lightly tapped his arm.
Matthew turned away.
This man could really be infuriating sometimes.
Anyway, they were getting divorced.
Might as well treat it as a vacation.
Once Sophie adjusted her mindset, she wasn't so anxious anymore.
She also lay down for a while. An airport staff member came over and called to them softly, "Mr. Moore, Mrs. Moore, it's time to board."
Sophie still wasn't used to hearing people address her that way.
Matthew stood up and once again took Sophie's hand, walking out of the lounge.
Others looked at Sophie with envious eyes.
A husband so handsome, so rich and loving - she was basically winning at life.
No one knew Sophie was being dragged along by Matthew.
The destination was a small European country with pleasant weather year-round, and most importantly, beautiful scenery - surrounded by water on all sides, peaceful and isolated from the world.
The direct flight took over ten hours. After getting off the plane, someone came up to them, speaking English with a slight accent, welcoming Matthew and Sophie.
Arriving in an unfamiliar country, Sophie was somewhat guarded and very nervous.
She stuck close to Matthew, afraid of getting lost.
Not for any other reason, but because her passport and everything weren't with her, she had no money either. If Matthew really lost her, she wouldn't know how to get back.
She was still wearing the same outfit from work. In her bag, besides lipstick, her phone, and tissues, there was nothing valuable or otherwise.
The car drove through streets with exotic charm. The wind carried the faint salty scent of seawater - very comfortable, able to calm one's mind, relax the brain, and think of nothing.
After the car ride, they had to take a boat.
After Matthew chatted with someone for a few moments, the person took the suitcase onto a speedboat nearby, then called for Sophie.
"Aren't we taking the boat?" Sophie looked at the boat beside them.
Matthew said, "We're taking this one."
"You're driving?"
"Yeah."
Sophie hesitated.
Matthew frowned. "Afraid of falling in?"
Sophie said nothing, just looked at him.
"With me here, what are you afraid of?" Matthew urged her. "Don't you want to lie in bed and sleep soon?"
After such a long flight, even though it was first class, it still wasn't as comfortable as sleeping in an actual bed.
She steeled herself and got on the speedboat.
Matthew waited until she had her life jacket on before starting the speedboat.
He didn't go fast, letting Sophie adjust first.
As long as Sophie didn't speak up, his speed was like rowing a boat. Another speedboat passed by them, and Sophie suddenly felt competitive.
"Go faster."
Matthew looked back at her. "You sure?"
"Of course. Faster, faster, faster." Sophie didn't dare ask him to pass the speedboat ahead, afraid it would be dangerous.
As soon as the words left her mouth, Sophie almost got thrown out. She quickly grabbed the handrail beside her, her heart clenching tight.
Her hair was blown loose by the wind. She was both worried and excited, because they were about to pass the boat ahead.
Finally passing it, Sophie let out an excited yell, then turned back and shouted to Matthew, "Matthew, you're amazing!"
Matthew looked at her pure smile, the corners of his mouth lifting.
However, Sophie's clothes got wet.
The white shirt clung to her body when wet, outlining her graceful curves in a way that was particularly sexy at this moment, full of dangerous temptation. People passing by kept glancing at Sophie.
Because Matthew was there, they didn't dare let their gazes be too obvious.
Once on the island, there was a whole town - shops, supermarkets, restaurants, and hotels.
Matthew went straight into a small shop nearby, bought a shawl inside, and wrapped it around Sophie, covering up her sexy appearance.
Sophie actually knew this too and quickly wrapped herself up.
Someone from the island came to pick them up. They quickly got in the car, finally escaping many stares.
At the hotel, Sophie had no interest in admiring how nice the hotel decor was. She just wanted to quickly take a shower and change clothes.
Matthew opened the door, and Sophie went straight to the bathroom.
Taking off her wet clothes, she finally felt comfortable.
She soaked in the bath, washing away nearly two days of exhaustion.
So tired, and the water temperature was just right.
With her eyes closed, she even forgot where she was.
A sudden knocking sound made her eyes snap open. The water had gone cold.
She didn't know how long she'd been soaking.
Before she could respond, the door was pushed open.
Sophie stared at Matthew at the doorway, his face full of urgency. She panicked and covered her chest. "What are you doing?"
"If you're fine, why didn't you answer me?" Matthew was practically shouting.
He'd called out several times from outside with no response. He thought she'd drowned. He was so scared his heart was still racing.
Sophie's heart trembled at his shouting, and she got worked up too. "Why are you calling me for no reason? Why should I answer you?"
"Do you know how long I've been calling you?" Matthew took a deep breath, calming down. "If you hadn't kept not responding, would I have rushed in?"
Sophie really hadn't heard him calling her.
Maybe she'd fallen asleep.
But she didn't want to admit fault in front of him, so she said, "Still, you shouldn't have come in."
Matthew frowned, then turned and walked out.
As the bathroom door closed, Sophie finally breathed a sigh of relief.
The water temperature only had a little warmth left. She must have soaked for at least half an hour.
Getting up, drying off, she suddenly realized a problem.
She'd rushed in and forgotten to bring clothes.
Most importantly, she hadn't packed her own luggage and hadn't brought any clothes at all.
Thinking of Matthew's suitcase, she didn't know if he'd packed anything for her.
Sophie wrapped herself in a bath towel and walked out of the bathroom, only to see Matthew crouching by the suitcase, holding her underwear and panties in his hands.
