Chapter 46
Veron groaned as her eyes fluttered open. The blue worried ones of Jeremy met hers.
"Alpha Griffin?" she called out.
Jeremy sighed as a smile of relief appeared on his face. Verona looked around and noticed she was in his arms as the group surrounded them.
"You gave us a scare there, you know that?" Jeremy laughed as he placed her back on her feet. June walked towards her and gave her a tight hug.
"Don't ever make us worried like that again!" June said as they pulled apart.
"You can say that again. " Gabi laughed, an arm around his wife. Mandy had now moved towards Jeremy who slipped around her. Gerard stood beside his brother, a frown on his face.
"I guess the spirits decided it wasn't my time yet. They must have still thought I have a lot to do," Verona chuckled as she leaned to rest on June.
"Are you okay?" Jeremy asked.
"Yes," Verona replied. "Just a bit weary."
"We should go and get Dahlia," Gerard spoke. His frown deepened as he made to walk away.
"Don't make such hasty decision, Mr White," Verona said. "We need to strategize first."
"But Dominic has her!" Gerard nearly yelled, startling the group. "Didn't you remember how we saw her after I rescued her the first time. She looked like she was on the brink of..."
He paused and clenched his fists. Different emotions filled him as he remembered her weakened state in the dungeon the last time she was rescued.
"I know, Mr White," Verona said. "But you have to be patient. Rushing blindly towards Dominic's residence will be repeating the same mistake we made last time."
"But.." Gerard began.
"Listen to her, brother," Gabi said, placing a hand on his shoulder. "We all understand how you feel right now but she's right. We can't take this risk at the moment."
Gerard sighed and relaxed a bit.
"So what do we do now?" he asked generally "Now," Jeremy answered with a steely gaze. "We set our first plan in motion. Alliance of the packs."
Two nights later, everything was set. Jeremy had gathered the werewolves from his cousin's city and brought them to the swamp. Ronald had done the access ment and made the agreement. Blackstone pack and the reborn redwing pack were now allied. For the next few days, Jeremy, his family and the Whites were to stay in the swamp to make further plans. The battle was going to happen in the next two nights. The night of a full moon.
Jeremy sat on a bench in front of a cabin in thought. The swamp was quite save for the occasional patrol of some of the werewolves by the entrance. Alpha Ronald and Beta Ken were having a discussion in the office. June and Verona were in a building discussing with Landon, Kelly and Felicia. Gabi and Gerard had taken a stroll into the woods not far off.
Jeremy stared at the moon. Two days from now the final battle would begin. And this time there was no going to be slip ups or errors. No mistakes were going to be tolerated. Dominic's reign of terror filled with genocide and profanity had gone on for too long and he had to fall. Jeremy was even more concerned about the witch. Nuri. Dominic's weapon of defense. That woman's power was not to be underrated. Despite his now evolutionary power, he knew she was still a force to reckon with. His only prayer was Verona. Hopefully, the white garbed witch can do everything to neutralize her dark counterpart and pave a way for Dominic's downfall.
He heard footsteps and glanced to the side as Mandy walked towards him. She sat down beside him.
"Hey." She smiled at him.
"Hey,you." He returned her smile.
There was silence as the duo stared at the moon above. Each lost in their thoughts.
"You know you've come a long way." Mandy tore her gaze from the sky and faced him. He looked at her and a smile appeared on her face.
"From that shy cute boy I first met when I first got here," she continued. "To the charismatic and devilish handsome teen who now leads a pack."
She reached out and squeezed his hand.
"I'm so proud of you, babe." She smiled as he squeezed hers back. "Jeremy Griffin. The Alpha of Redwing pack. It has a nice ring to it."
"It sure does," he chuckled.
A serious look appeared on his face as he caressed her cheek.
"But an Alpha can never be happy leading his pack without his Luna by his side," he said.
Mandy's eyes went wide.
"Jeremy," she gasped. "Are you saying..."
"Mandy," he cut her off. "You always stood by me even before I was revealed to be the one. There were moments that I had this feeling we were meant to be together even when I thought you were mated to my brother. And when fate chose me and then chose you to be my mate, I couldn't have been happier. You were my pillar of support when I was emotionally down from Kyle's death and you managed to always put a smile on my face. And after that, I thought I lost you and my mom to Nuri's attack at the restaurant, I almost felt that darkness come again. But now that I've got you back. I'm never going to waste this opportunity again. And when my house atop my ancestral home is built and I continue the legacy of Alpha Lucas, I don't want to do it alone."
Mandy's eyes welled as Jeremy leaned closer to her.
"Mandy White," he said. "When we survive this battle, and we will, Will you do me the honor of becoming Mandy Griffin, the Luna of Redwing pack?"
Mandy's hand covered her lips as she fought back the tears of joy.
"Yes!" She threw her hands around him, laughing gently. She pulled away from him with her hands around his neck and her face inches from his.
"Yes, Jeremy Griffin." She smiled gently. "I'll be with you forever."
A joyful smile appeared on Jeremy's face as they both leaned towards each other. Their lips connected in a gentle kiss under the beauty of the moon.
