Chapter 505

Chapter 505

"You... how dare you treat me like this? I'm your elder..." Cecilia was so angry her chest heaved wildly, almost passing out.

Verity was furious too. "You really have no manners at all. You've been married into this family for years. I thought you'd get better, but you're still such a loser. How dare you talk to my mom like that? Believe it or not, I'll kick you out right now."

"Cut it out. We're all about equal now. You don't want to take good care of him, so what right do you have to stay here and take over Simon's house? Let me make it clear: if you want to live here, behave yourselves, or get out right now."

It felt so good to finally say what was on her mind.

Elodie had wanted to snap like this years ago, but back then she was just a kept woman, living only for Simon, so she didn't dare offend Cecilia and Verity.

Now things were totally different.

Simon had no value left, so no need to hold back anymore.

She just had to keep the title of Mrs. Simon, have the baby, do a paternity test, and then go live a fancy life somewhere else.

No need to talk about who's right or wrong.

Some elders just aren't worth respecting.

Seeing Cecilia about to faint, Elodie snorted. "Enough with the act. We've known each other for years—do you think I don't know what you're like? You've pulled this since you were young. Things don't go your way, you faint. Things don't go your way, you use illness to control people. Let me tell you, the only person in the world who cared if you got sick is now useless."

In the living room, most people didn't care at all if Cecilia fainted.

The only one who did care was sitting there, unable to move.

Cecilia was totally stunned. When she snapped out of it and saw everyone's faces, she slumped onto the sofa.

Yeah, the only person who'd ever cared about her was Simon.

Now Simon was useless, and Verity was just sitting there, waiting for her to fight and grab, so Verity could sit back and take the benefits.

Elodie's words must have hit her hard. Cecilia looked defeated and said nothing more.

Saskia walked over. "No matter what, we're family. We have to live under the same roof, so let's all go rest. Mom, you're pregnant—head upstairs first."

The family butler had come over too. He'd take good care of Elodie—no one else needed to worry. The main thing was where everyone would stay.

The old butler saw it clearly. No one was looking after Simon, so he quietly took him back to his old room. Elodie got the room next door.

Cecilia ended up on the third floor she hated most. Verity stayed next to her.

Back in her room, Elodie laughed wildly. "That felt amazing. Ever since I met that jerk, Cecilia's looked down on me. All these years, she's never accepted me and kept making trouble. Now? No more putting up with her."

For Elodie, her hate for Cecilia ran deep, right into her bones.

Cecilia was just too awful. When Elodie first became Simon's mistress, she wasn't a good person, but she'd never hurt anyone. The first time Cecilia saw her, she looked at her like trash.

Even after Elodie and Simon got married for real, Cecilia still acted like she was beneath her.

To lock in her spot as the rich wife, Elodie had put up with it over and over. Now she didn't have to anymore.

Saskia thought for a moment. "Mom, I know you don't want to hold back and want payback, but let's not go too far right now. If we want to stay here comfortably, we need to get along with them."

Clearly, Verity's debt problem was solved somehow.

Better to have more friends than enemies, anyway.

Elodie rolled her eyes. "Don't worry. I know what they're capable of. Trust me."

"Okay, as long as you've got it figured out. I have stuff to do, so I'm heading out. Mom, if anything's not right here, call me."

The house felt suffocating. Even though everyone knew who they were now, Saskia didn't want to get too involved.

After sorting things out, Saskia turned and left.

Elodie watched Verity's back as she left, then went next door.

The butler was patiently caring for Simon. When he saw someone come in, he looked on guard.

"What are you? How dare you look at me like that? Don't forget, I'm the lady of the house. If I want you gone, it's easy."

Now Elodie showed her true face. No more sweet and gentle act—she looked like a nasty woman, eyes full of scorn.

The butler was used to Elodie acting this way.

He knew she meant it—he could get fired anytime. He lowered his voice. "Madam, sorry. I don't mean anything else. I just want to care for sir here. You know we grew up together. No matter what, even if everyone else abandons him, I won't."

The butler was loyal to a fault.

Staying by Simon now brought zero benefits, but he still wanted to stick around.

That kind of loyalty was touching.

Elodie didn't care one bit. "Cut it out—no more pretending. Think I don't know your type? You just want a bigger cut. Let me tell you straight: get out now. You're in the way."

"Still want to care for him? Not after his money? I've got it handled here—a maid's coming soon. It's just serving a useless man, right? Don't worry, pay enough and anyone will do it."

Useless man.

That hit hard.

The butler was so mad his eyes went red. "Madam, I know you don't care about me, but please—let me stay and care for sir. I don't need money or pay. I just want to be here with him."
