Chapter 435 You and I Join Forces
Chapter 435 You and I Join Forces
The Donovan scandal was huge, and its impact was terrifying.
After all, he was a big shot in the field, and no one had ever dared to challenge him. Now, suddenly, overnight, his authority had crumbled, and it felt like a complete collapse of faith.
Dylan was under immense pressure, too. As the vice president, he bore a lot of responsibility and had to keep the Fragrance Association afloat, which was driving him to the brink.
Just as he was about to pack up and head back to Burkwood to sort things out and figure out the best way to respond and counterattack, Ruby showed up again.
"What are you doing here again? I thought I made myself very clear last time."
Dylan knew exactly what Ruby was after, but had no interest in getting involved. He genuinely had no interest in her.
"Yeah, I thought you would have come to your senses over the past couple of days," Ruby said with a sly smile.
"Is that so?" Dylan raised an eyebrow and continued to pack up the documents and files on his desk.
"What's the point of packing up those papers? They're just a pile of trash. You see, Evelyn is not easy to deal with. I knew it the first time I crossed paths with her. She may seem quiet and fragile, but she's tough at her core, and her scheming is no less than mine. She dared to plot against Donovan; there's nothing she wouldn't dare."
Although Dylan didn't particularly like Ruby, her words did resonate with him.
He hadn't expected Evelyn to be so troublesome. He thought that with the association's power and tactics, a little pressure would make her surrender. But unexpectedly, she almost brought the entire association down.
The association had been a mess lately, and everyone felt a bit on edge. No one wanted to be caught with any dirt, and nobody knew who was digging up and leaking those hidden secrets.
"If you want to deal with her, you need to team up with me," Ruby urged again.
"You?" Dylan glanced at her and scoffed. "Forgive me for being blunt, but the Redwood Group is barely holding on, right? The police are still investigating you, and the quality control bureau is looking into this matter. Do you think a few photos and videos can shift all the blame onto Evelyn and absolve the Redwood Group of responsibility?"
"Even if the Redwood Group has some responsibility, it's just a small part, at most, poor hiring and inadequate supervision. When the time comes, a senior manager from the Redwood Group can take the fall. What's the problem? The Redwood Group is big and strong; it can still stand tall. Mr. Anderson, your Anderson family in Burkwood is also big and strong. Surely you understand this, right?"
Dylan understood, of course, he did! But he also knew Ruby's true intentions.
"If it were really that easy, you wouldn't need to come to me," he smiled slightly. "And as far as I know, the Redwood Group isn't even under your control. Neither your uncle nor your father has any intention of making you the successor. The reason you've been coming to me repeatedly, even throwing yourself at me, isn't because you like me. It's because you see the power behind me."
"You want to use the Anderson family's influence to bolster your position and force your uncle to hand over control of the company to you. Am I right?"
Yes! Absolutely right!
Ruby didn't hold back. She smiled and said, "You're right! But Mr. Anderson, don't you need a capable partner to help you out? The Anderson family has a lot of descendants. Compared to the Redwood family, in my generation, besides me, is there a better choice? But the Anderson family is different. Not to mention your generation, the next generation has already grown up. Are you sure your elders would be willing to hand over the family business to a rebellious descendant like you?"
Her words were harsh but true.
The complexity of the Anderson family was beyond the imagination of outsiders. With many descendants and several generations living together, the competition for wealth and the family business was fierce, with everyone using their own tactics.
Although Dylan didn't have a strong desire for the family business, he wouldn't just hand over what was rightfully his to someone else.
He had climbed to his current position in the Fragrance Association, defying his family's opposition, to carve out a different path.
Perfumery might not be highly regarded by the Anderson family, but he believed that with proper development, it could be a thriving and dynamic industry. It hadn't fully developed domestically yet, and there was plenty of room for growth.
Now, as the vice president of the association, if he could endure for another two years and become the president, he would be a leader in the field, a top figure. With many disciples, he could easily venture into business or other areas.
Moreover, being in the association allowed him to connect with influential political figures, which was beneficial for both himself and the Anderson family.
The Anderson family didn't understand. They thought Dylan was aimless, obsessed with women and frivolous pursuits.
What a joke! They had no idea about his ambitions.
"So, if I were to cooperate with you, what would you bring to the table?" Dylan asked. It was all about the benefits she could gain from him, but what about her?
Ruby was delighted to hear this, sensing hope. "It's obvious! If we're together, with the Anderson family's influence, the Redwood Group would be mine. Similarly, if I controlled the Redwood Group, it would be your strongest support as my husband! With our combined forces, what couldn't we achieve?"
Dylan frowned and pondered, no longer rejecting her outright.
To be honest, the temptation was indeed significant.
"Moreover, if the Redwood Group is in my hands, I have confidence in making it even bigger. Not only can we clear the current stain, but we can also use this opportunity to kick Evelyn out of the industry. If you don't want to see her, we can make her disappear. If you still want to use her, she will come to you when she's desperate. Either way, I won't obstruct you and will respect your decision. Hmm?"
Ruby gently placed her hand on Dylan's chest, her voice becoming more seductive as she gazed at him with alluring eyes.
Her words seemed to have a magical power, making it hard for him to refuse.
Dylan hesitated for a moment, then took her hand. This time, he didn't push her away but pulled her into his arms.
Caught off guard, Ruby fell into his embrace, pressing tightly against him. She looked up, a blush appearing on her face, and closed her eyes slightly.
Dylan hesitated briefly, then lowered his head and kissed her beautiful yet dangerous red lips.
