Chapter 197: Eating a Late-Night Snack

Chapter 197: Eating a Late-Night Snack

Half an hour later, Olivia and the others still showed up at the police station.

No matter what, Justin was Charlotte's boyfriend, and when Charlotte was in trouble and suffering, he really should be by her side to comfort her.

Justin rushed forward anxiously, "Charlotte!"

Before Justin could get close, Rowan had his bodyguard stop him. "Mr. Harper, wasn't I clear enough?"

"You can't protect Charlotte. You're not qualified to be with her."

After being kidnapped, Charlotte was feeling very down and scared. She clung to Rowan, trembling with fear.

Justin took a step back.

Rowan left with Charlotte.

Olivia wanted to ask the police about the situation, but everyone was busy, and no one paid attention to her.

She almost got bumped into.

Cameron caught Olivia in time and pulled her to a less crowded area. "I just asked around. Mrs. York got a call from the kidnappers, paid the money, so Charlotte was safely released."

Hearing this, Olivia felt something was off.

It seemed like things wrapped up way too quickly.

At least this kidnapper kept their word and followed through.

But as long as Charlotte came back safely, that was enough.

Since Justin was also involved, he needed to give a statement. After all, the kidnapper hadn't been caught yet, and the police had to catch the criminal.

While waiting, Cameron went out for a bit.

Olivia glanced over but didn't ask too many questions. After all, Cameron could go wherever he wanted - it wasn't her business.

Jared stayed behind to comfort Olivia and tell her not to worry.

"I think Mrs. York just said those things because she was upset for the moment. Besides, you can't blame Justin for what happened. If Justin had been with Ms. York, this wouldn't have happened."

Olivia naturally knew the incident couldn't be blamed on Justin.

But she also knew clearly that this was just an excuse Rowan was using to force Justin and Charlotte to break up. After all, Rowan never liked Justin in the first place.

"Have some."

Cameron had returned at some point and handed Olivia a warm sandwich with a big piece of steak that looked mouth-watering.

Olivia instinctively took it.

But remembering what she had said before, she blushed with embarrassment. "I..."

"Eat it while it's hot, and here's some juice too."

Cameron guided Olivia to sit at a nearby table and chairs. "Just eat here properly."

Olivia didn't make excuses. She took a bite of the sandwich - the beef was perfectly seasoned, and the bread was soft and fresh, the taste was wonderful.

She couldn't help but take a sip of juice. The sweet flavor spread in her mouth, easing her anxious mood a bit.

Watching Olivia eat with such obvious enjoyment, Cameron couldn't help but smile.

Nearby, Jared's eyes flickered.

When Justin came out after giving his statement, Olivia had eaten her fill. Her stomach was full, and she felt good.

Though Justin felt down, he still suggested Olivia go eat a late-night snack. He lowered his voice, "Olivia, don't hold back. You've got a little baby in your belly now."

Afraid Cameron would hear, Olivia secretly pinched Justin.

"I already ate. Let's go back!"

"What? When did you eat? Why does your breath smell like beef?" Justin followed behind Olivia. "Olivia, what did you eat? I want some too."

Olivia quietly covered her mouth and sniffed - there really was a beef smell.

Her cheeks flushed red as she glared at Justin unhappily. "I don't know, stop asking."

Cameron walked over and gave Justin a bag with another sandwich. "It's this. Eat up, still warm."

"Thanks, brother-in-law!" Justin blurted out in his excitement.

Olivia's figure paused, but she didn't stop and continued walking outside, as if she hadn't heard anything.

Jared's expression changed slightly. "Eat it in the car."

Justin suddenly realized what he'd said and felt his face flush with embarrassment. "Sorry, I just..."

"It's fine, get in the car." Cameron was in a good mood. No matter what, Justin still thought of him as brother-in-law, and having Justin on his side increased his chances of success.

Cameron drove Olivia and Justin home.

Looking for an excuse to stay longer, Cameron claimed he had work matters to discuss with Justin. He looked at Olivia, "As for you, go rest early."

Olivia had been running around for so long and was already tired.

But she still glared at Cameron. Who did he think he was, giving her orders like that?

She said goodbye to Jared and went into her room.

After a quick wash, Olivia was about to sleep when she suddenly remembered Sophie. She sent Sophie a message, but where had Sophie gone?

She hadn't come to find them, and she wasn't home either.

Olivia was a bit worried and called Sophie.

After a while, the phone was answered.

"Sophie, where are you?"

"I'm at a friend's place right now, dealing with something." Sophie quickly changed the subject. "By the way, how's Justin's situation? Was Ms. York found?"

"Everything's fine now." Olivia frowned. "How are things on your end? Is it tricky?"

"Not really, I'll be back soon. I'll tell you about it then."

"Okay, come back early then."

Olivia thought about Sophie mentioning starting a business with a friend.

Could there be some conflict with this friend?

Thinking about these things, Olivia drifted off to sleep.

Outside in the living room, Cameron took a sip of water and glanced at Jared. "It's already so late, do you have something else?"

Jared stood up, knowing there was no point in staying any longer.

"I'll head out then. You should go home and rest early, too."

Cameron didn't respond. He was already planning to stay overnight since there was a guest room that he could use. "What are you standing there for? Go close the door."

Justin grimaced inwardly, thinking Cameron was really being petty with Jared.

Of course, he could understand.

No one would have a good temper when facing a romantic rival.

After seeing Jared off, Cameron told Justin not to be so formal. "This isn't the Hayes Group, and it's not work hours. Come sit."

Justin complained internally.

If it's not the Hayes Group and not work hours, why are you talking to me about work?

He smiled on the surface while cursing inside. "Right, you're absolutely right. So are you talking about the new project? Please rest assured, I'm fully confident..."

"Never mind, go rest." Cameron cut off Justin's words. "Alright, I should go rest too."

Cameron specifically asked, "Justin, about me staying overnight in the guest room - you know how to explain it to Olivia tomorrow, right?"

Justin was confused, not understanding what Cameron meant.

But Cameron assumed Justin knew how to explain. He patted Justin's shoulder. "As for you and Charlotte, don't worry. I'm sure there'll be a turning point soon."
