Chapter 198

Chapter 198

"Since you won't let Emily go to the hospital, then you don't need to go either."

William's lips curved slightly, but his words sent chills through Eleanor's entire body.

Eleanor knew how badly she was hurt, so she quickly knelt down and grabbed William's pant leg, pleading.

"William, I didn't mean anything by it. It's just that I really don't know how to explain this to Grandpa. Please let me off this once. I won't stop her from going to the hospital."

Seeing her kneeling and begging, William remained unmoved.

"When you were making things difficult for Emily just now, why didn't you say this?"

At this point, he crouched down and lifted Eleanor's chin with his hand.

"Eleanor, do you really think I don't know what you're up to?"

George's plan to have Eleanor go through with an arranged marriage had reached William's ears long ago.

George was hoping that when William heard this news, he would panic and come to Eleanor to confess his feelings.

But his heart belonged only to Emily. He didn't care about Eleanor at all.

William had even secretly had someone leak this information to her, hoping she would stop pursuing him and avoid damaging their childhood friendship.

Unfortunately, she refused to see reason.

William's lips curved slightly, and he said nothing more to her.

"Get lost! If I see you again, it won't just be you who suffers—it'll be the Beaumont Group too. Even if you're overseas, I won't let it go."

After saying this, he turned and walked back into the house.

Eleanor knelt there in a daze, watching William's retreating figure, then suddenly laughed.

It was a wild, crazy laugh, filled with emotions too complex to understand.

She left the Brown Mansion in a daze, walking down the street.

After confirming no one was following her, Eleanor let out a bitter laugh. A cold glint flashed in her eyes as she pulled out her phone and called someone.

"I failed, but I don't want Emily to have it easy. As long as you can make her suffer, I'll do whatever you say."

A light laugh came from the other end. The two spoke about something unknown.

After William took Emily to get her vaccine and they returned, the three children gathered around them.

"Mommy, are you okay?"

"Mommy, are you alright?"

"Mommy."

Looking at the worried faces of the children around her, Emily gently stroked their hair.

"I'm fine, don't worry."

Just as she was talking with the children, a figure approached.

"Mom..."

The moment Emily saw Amelia appear, she froze, and tears immediately flooded out uncontrollably.

"Mom, why did you come back?"

She stepped forward and hugged Amelia's neck tightly. Amelia gently patted her back and answered with a smile.

"I'm doing a bit better, so the doctor there let me come back to rest for two days and see you all."

She spoke to Emily, but her eyes fell on William in the distance.

The reason Amelia could come back was because William had communicated with the doctors there and arranged for her return.

Though this was somewhat taxing for Amelia, he thought that some things needed Amelia present so Emily wouldn't have regrets for the rest of her life.

"It's good you're back, it's good you're back."

Emily nodded with a smile and released Amelia. The family was happy together.

Meanwhile, Sophia watched the video of Emily at today's press conference over and over, grinding her teeth in anger.

"Why? Why can you always take away everything I have?! All of this should have been mine."

She huddled in her hotel room, frantically pounding the blanket, as if venting her rage.

"I won't accept this!"

Sophia bit down hard, as if she wanted to tear Emily's face apart.

Just then, there was a knock at the door.

"Open up!"

Hearing the male voice outside, she found it somewhat familiar.

But out of caution, Sophia didn't open the door. After waiting a while, the person outside seemed to lose patience, and footsteps sounded.

The person seemed to have left.

Sophia quietly breathed a sigh of relief, but then her heart jumped.

"Beep."

With that sound, the door opened directly. The person standing outside was actually Brian.

"Dad, what are you doing here!"

Sophia cried out in surprise seeing him, but Brian, as if guilty of something, quickly closed the door and rushed over to cover her mouth.

"Shut up! Do you want others to find out?"

Hearing his cold warning, Sophia blinked at him and nodded, indicating she understood.

Only then did Brian release his hand and look Sophia up and down.

"How did you end up like this?"

"How I ended up like this—don't you know?"

Seeing Brian now, Sophia no longer had the respect she once had for him.

After going through so much, she had long understood that no one could be relied upon.

"Well, this is my fault."

Brian raised his hand to wipe his eyes, but there wasn't a trace of tears at the corners of his eyes.

Sophia saw it clearly but didn't bother to expose him.

Before, Brian had been hiding everywhere, not even answering her calls.

But now, why would he suddenly appear here and specifically seek her out?

Sophia remained secretly alert while keeping her expression neutral.

"How did you find me?"

"Of course it was..."

Before Brian could finish, the door opened again.

Two men and a woman in a dress stood outside.

"Who are you?"

Sophia quietly gripped the knife hidden under her pillow, her eyes full of vigilance.

Among them, except for Philip, the man who had approached her that day, she didn't recognize the others.

"Let me introduce myself. I'm your dad's good friend, Samuel."

Samuel was the first to step inside, looking at Sophia with a flash of disgust in his eyes.

He never liked dealing with these messy women from outside, even if this person was Brian's biological daughter.

Of course, when he took Brian in, it was only because of their past friendship.

Samuel used to work for Raymond and was highly trusted by him. Unfortunately, he was very ambitious and unwilling to serve under others, so he betrayed Raymond and struck out on his own.

His first business deal was even stolen from the Brown Group.

When he resigned, Raymond wasn't angry, but when he played dirty tricks behind the scenes, Raymond really couldn't tolerate him anymore and sent people to deal with Samuel.

But he was lucky—Brian saved him and he escaped disaster.

However, Samuel kept this grudge deep in his heart.
