Chapter 179

Chapter 179

But from that moment on, Eleanor's condition became uncontrollable.

In the end, they had no choice but to send her to a psychiatric hospital abroad.

Even though she lived overseas for a number of years, a full third of that time was spent in a psychiatric facility.

Until the doctor said that Eleanor's condition was under control, and the best approach was to let her return to her birthplace, to have more contact with familiar people and environments from before. Only this way could they ensure she wouldn't relapse.

So they brought Eleanor straight back home without delay, and the very first thing they did after returning was to send her to find William.

They had thought that seeing William would be extremely beneficial for her condition.

No one expected that William already had a child, and the child was even old enough to go to school.

In other words, when they went abroad back then, William was already with another woman.

No wonder Eleanor had suddenly suffered a breakdown. Such a crushing blow would be difficult for anyone to endure.

Arthur let out a long sigh, pulled out a cigarette and lit it, taking a couple of puffs, his face full of worry.

The next morning, William deployed his private jet.

On the plane, besides William, Emily, Amelia and the crew, there were also doctors.

Emily sat next to Amelia, gently holding her cool hand, her eyes filled with hope.

According to the plan, in just a few more hours, they would arrive in Switzerland.

There, a world-class top team was waiting to treat Amelia.

By then, everything would gradually get better, right?

William stayed by Emily's side, reaching out to gently hold her hand.

"Don't be afraid. The medical team in Switzerland is already waiting. Amelia will definitely get better."

William spoke in a low, resonant voice, his tone helping to quietly ease the tension in Emily's heart.

Emily looked up at him, her eyes showing some dependence.

She nodded slightly, "I trust you, and I trust the doctors there. I'm not afraid."

The two exchanged a smile and rested quietly.

But this peace didn't last long.

Outside the originally clear cabin, thick dark clouds suddenly gathered, and the sky instantly darkened.

The very next second, severe turbulence hit without any warning, and the whole aircraft shuddered violently, as though seized by an enormous hand.

"Bang—"

The overhead luggage compartment popped open from the shaking, and suitcases and personal items fell down, crashing onto the floor with piercing sounds.

The cabin lights kept flickering on and off, and the once tidy space descended into utter chaos.

An urgent voice came through the intercom, with barely concealed tension.

"Mr. Brown, everyone please note, the plane has suddenly encountered strong convective clouds and is experiencing severe turbulence. Please fasten your seatbelts and do not move around."

The announcement was repeated a second time, and a slightly anxious mood began to spread throughout the cabin.

Even though this was the most advanced private jet, it still couldn't withstand the power of nature.

Emily was jolted forward sharply, her heart instantly tightening.

She instinctively clutched William's hand beside her, while using her other hand to try to calm Amelia.

But the violent turbulence made it impossible for her to maintain balance.

To make matters worse, the sudden turbulence and the growing commotion became the final breaking point for Amelia.

Amelia, already mentally fragile, became terrified and frantic amid the turbulence and noise.

As if seeing the most frightening scene of her life, her previously calm face completely twisted, and she suddenly let out a sharp, piercing scream that cut through the chaos in the cabin.

"Ah!"

Amelia writhed about madly, desperately struggling to free herself from the seatbelt, her arms thrashing wildly.

Her hair came undone, tumbling around her face. Her eyes were wide with fright, and her cries never ceased, tangled with a jumble of garbled words.

"Let me go! Brian, you liar! Give me back my company! Give me back everything!"

She had sunk into agonizing recollections, perceiving everything around her as sources of past pain.

Seeing this, Emily's heart leapt to her throat.

Despite the plane's violent shaking, she quickly grabbed Amelia's hand with force.

"Mom, calm down, it's me, Emily. Don't be afraid."

But Amelia had already lost all reason at this point, and her strength was surprisingly powerful.

Seeing the hands restraining her, she became even more agitated. Her other free hand swung viciously at Emily, her eyes fierce, without any hesitation.

The blow came swiftly and with force. Emily had no chance to evade and could only stand by helplessly as Amelia's hand headed for her.

At this critical moment, William, almost by pure instinct, quickly reached out and blocked Emily's arm.

"Emily, don't move." He reminded her in a low voice, and Emily froze.

Amelia's slap still made contact with William's arm, leaving an immediate, vivid red mark.

Before he could recover, the plane shook violently again.

William quickly turned sideways, using his back to shield Emily.

Amelia's arms flailed chaotically, hitting William's shoulder hard.

And in shielding Emily, he lost his footing, striking his forehead hard against the unyielding armrest.

A dull thud made everyone's hearts skip a beat.

In an instant, bright red blood began to flow from William's forehead, trickling down his chiseled features and falling onto his white shirt, where it spread into crimson plum-blossom shapes.

Emily, in his arms, clearly felt his body stiffen momentarily.

When her nose caught the faint smell of blood, she completely froze, her pupils contracting sharply.

"William!"

She cried out, her voice filled with panic and heartache.

Tears instantly welled up in her eyes, blurring her vision.

But William behaved as though he were completely unaffected by the pain, not even a furrow in his brow, still holding Emily protectively in his embrace.

"Don't be afraid, I'm fine."

He forced himself to endure, fighting off the dizziness to comfort Emily.

"But your head..."

Emily covered her mouth, her heart full of worry.

She was worried about both Amelia and William.

Neither of them was in good shape right now!

"It's all right, we have a doctor with us. As soon as the plane gets through this rough patch, the doctor can take a look at my wound."

William came up with a solution, which finally stabilized Emily's nerves.

"Okay."

She nodded gently, then worriedly instructed.

"Stop talking for now, watch your breathing. If you feel any discomfort, tell me right away."

William said nothing more, just tightened his arms around Emily, as if to show he had heard.

While keeping Emily safe, William also had to remain vigilant about Amelia.

If Amelia kept having episodes like this, her mind would collapse sooner or later.
