Chapter 177

Chapter 177

"Not now." The doctor cut Emily off, his tone heavy.

"Her current condition is extremely bad. The damage to her brain nerves has worsened, and she could exhibit more severe self-harm or violent behavior at any moment. She must first undergo forced sedation and systematic treatment at the hospital to get her condition under control."

Hearing the doctor's words, Emily's body went weak. Her back slammed hard against the cold wall, and her heart felt like it was being squeezed tight by an invisible hand. The pain made it almost impossible to breathe.

Emily had originally thought that if she could take Amelia abroad for treatment, there might still be some hope for improvement.

But now they couldn't go.

Amelia's current condition was extremely poor, and the risk of going abroad was too high.

She might not be able to endure the ordeal of the journey.

Emily had only wanted to bring good news to Amelia, to make her happy, but she never expected that in the end, she would be the one to push Amelia into an even deeper abyss.

Guilt and regret flooded over her like a tide.

Emily's eyes reddened, and tears silently streamed down her face.

She was completely at a loss, not knowing what to do now to get Amelia's condition under control.

Her fingers trembling, Emily hesitated for a long time before finally dialing that number she knew by heart.

The phone was answered almost instantly, and William's deep, gentle voice came through the receiver.

"Emily, what's wrong? Is there a problem with the auction?"

Hearing that familiar voice, Emily's pent-up emotions finally broke through. Her voice was choked with sobs.

"William, can you come to the hospital? My mom... her condition has gotten worse."

Just saying that one sentence took nearly all her strength.

After Emily finished speaking, she could no longer hold herself up and slowly slid down the wall to sit on the floor.

On the other end of the phone, William's expression changed drastically, and his normally calm voice took on a note of anxiety.

"Send me the hospital address. I'm coming right now."

After hanging up, William looked at the address on his phone, grabbed his coat, and rushed out.

He took shortcuts all the way, arriving at the hospital as fast as possible.

When he reached the floor where Amelia was, he spotted Emily from a distance, huddled in a corner of the hallway.

Her clothes were disheveled, there were clear finger marks on her neck, her eyes were red and swollen, and her face was streaked with tears.

William's heart tightened. He quickly walked over and carefully pulled Emily into his arms, his movements gentle.

He held Emily, his voice tinged with heartache.

"I'm here. Don't be afraid. I'm here with you."

Leaning into that familiar embrace and feeling William's heartbeat, Emily's tense nerves finally relaxed. She buried her head in his chest and cried silently.

Feeling the intensity of her sobs, William gently patted Emily's back and patiently listened as she recounted what had happened. Pain flashed in his eyes.

He felt for Emily having to bear all this alone, and he felt for the suffering Amelia had endured.

As for Brian...

A cold glint flashed in William's eyes. He would settle that score sooner or later!

"I'll go find the doctor first to understand the situation and see if there are any other options."

After comforting Emily, William went to speak with the doctor himself.

Emily stayed in the hospital room with Amelia, distracted and anxious.

After what seemed like forever, William finally pushed the door open and came in.

Seeing William enter, her eyes filled with nervousness as she asked carefully.

"What did the doctor say?"

William took her cold hand, his tone softening.

"Emily, I've already discussed it with the doctor. Tonight we'll give Amelia a gentle sedative injection to stabilize her temporarily. We'll take her back to the Brown Mansion, have dinner, and let her see Oscar, Nina, and Aiden—fulfill her small wish for now. Tomorrow morning, we'll charter a plane to take her to Switzerland. The medical team there is already on standby, and they'll do everything they can."

Emily's head shot up, her eyes filled with shock and emotion.

She hadn't expected William to have already arranged everything, even considering her most subtle wishes.

"Is that really okay? Won't it affect my mom's condition?"

Her voice trembled, her heart full of worry.

"Don't worry, the doctor will be with us the whole time. As long as the medication dosage is precise, it will only keep her calm and alert—there won't be any danger."

William raised his hand and gently wiped away the tears at the corner of her eyes. His fingers touched the finger marks on her neck, and his heart ached.

"Don't try to handle everything alone anymore. Emily, you have me behind you. You can trust me. Your problems are my problems. Remember that, okay?"

Faced with his comfort, Emily nodded hard, tears streaming down her face again.

Yes, she wasn't alone anymore.

Under William's arrangements, Amelia was given a gentle sedative. Her emotions gradually stabilized, and her eyes regained some clarity.

Though she still looked weak, at least now she could recognize Emily.

After several confirmations with the doctor, the two of them drove Amelia back to the Brown Mansion.

At the Brown Mansion, Raymond had already had the servants prepare a table full of hot food, and the three children sat obediently at the table.

When the children saw Emily and William bringing Amelia back, they immediately came forward and greeted her sweetly.

Seeing the three adorable children, Amelia's face showed a smile she hadn't worn in a long time.

She touched the children's heads, and the atmosphere at the Brown Mansion was warm.

Everyone took their seats at the dinner table. Watching Amelia care for the children and chat happily with Raymond, Emily's anxious heart finally eased a little.

Meanwhile, at the Beaumont Mansion on the other side of the city, the place was shrouded in madness and despair.

Eleanor sat on the luxurious living room sofa, her face pale as paper, her eyes hollow yet crazed.

She clutched a paternity test report tightly in her hand. The paper was crumpled from her grip, its edges soaked with tears.

The clear conclusion on the report stabbed into her heart like a knife.

Sample A, Sample B, Sample C all share a blood relationship with Sample L.

These samples belonged to Oscar, Nina, Aiden, and William respectively.

This line of paternity test results completely destroyed all her fantasies and hopes.

She had always thought Emily was just lucky, that those children were just accidents and not William's biological children.

She thought that William still had feelings for her deep down.

She had struggled abroad for so long, all for the day when she could return to William's side, marry him, and become the mistress of the Brown family.

But now, everything had turned to bubbles!

William not only had a woman he loved, he even had three children.

Those three children were all his biological offspring.

And she had nothing. She was nothing.

"Ahhh—"

Eleanor let out a piercing scream and violently threw the report in her hand onto the floor.
