Chapter 142
Now, asking her to bring the kids back to the Brown family was even more unbearable for Emily.
Emily wasn't clear about the current situation of the Brown family. Would Raymond and William's parents accept her?
Although they already had children together, the gap in their social status stood between them like a vast chasm that couldn't be bridged with just a simple "we like each other."
If the Brown family wasn't willing, what would she do then?
Moving in proudly with the kids, only to be kicked out in disgrace - just thinking about Oscar made her feel suffocated.
But she didn't plan to tell him these things. Even if she told William, it wouldn't help.
Since he could suggest she go back home with him, it meant he hadn't considered these issues at all.
However, William's response surprised Emily greatly. "Are you worried about not being able to fit into my family?"
William easily saw through Emily's thoughts and explained seriously, "Since I brought up taking you back to the Brown family, I've naturally thought about what I'll need to deal with."
"You're the person I care about, so of course you'll be with me from now on."
He lowered his head slightly, a faint smile appearing at the corner of his mouth. "To be honest, my grandfather started pushing me to get married years ago. He couldn't wait for me to get married and have kids."
"When I brought Aiden home, the first thing Grandpa asked was where Aiden's birth mother was."
"When he found out I didn't bring you home, Grandpa was furious. He thought I had wronged you, and he scolded me several times over it."
Emily's brow twitched slightly. "Is that really true?"
"Of course. Why would I lie to you?"
William raised an eyebrow slightly. "Everything I'm telling you now is from my heart. We've spent so much time together - when have I ever lied to you?"
That's true. William wasn't someone who habitually lied. Since he said so, it must be true.
"Be with me."
William repeated, his eyes very serious. "You need to give Oscar and Nina a home. I'm their biological father."
"I really like you. It's only natural for you to be with me. Or are you planning to find them a stepfather?"
"Of course, that's not what I mean."
Emily frowned tightly, her mind in chaos. "Let me think about it properly."
She stood up. "You're bringing all this up too suddenly. I need to think it through."
"What else are you worried about?"
William frowned slightly. "If you have other concerns, just tell me. I'll help you overcome them."
"It's not about that."
Emily's expression was rather helpless.
Why couldn't she make him understand? There were still many concerns.
But even if she told William, he couldn't help her solve them. It would be better not to say anything and avoid putting William in a difficult position.
Seeing that William wanted to continue discussing this, Emily suddenly stood up. "Let's not talk about this now. Let's eat first."
She laughed. "You ran out of the hospital, so you definitely haven't eaten yet. Let's eat first, then we can talk about other things later."
"My mom and the kids are still waiting. After we eat, I'll take you back to the hospital."
"No need to go back to the hospital."
William smiled. "I've already been discharged."
"You've been discharged?"
Emily was very surprised and looked at William's abdomen. "You're bleeding!"
Emily cried out in alarm and quickly reached for William's shirt, looking disapproving. "Your wound hasn't even healed properly yet. Why did you rush out of the hospital?"
"Look, the wound is bleeding again, isn't it?"
But William held Emily's hand. "It's fine. The doctor said the wound has already started healing nicely. Even if it bleeds a little, it's not a big deal. It'll heal on its own in a couple of days."
He held Emily's hand, his gaze intense. "Are you worried about me? I love that you're worried about me."
"Who's worried about you?"
Emily gave him a look. "I'm just afraid that if you're hospitalized again, I'll have to take care of you. I have so many things to do every day - I can't make my whole world revolve around you."
"Besides, I still have to go to work. I can't just not earn money, right?"
William chuckled. "So you're saying I'm holding you back."
"I didn't say that."
Emily's expression darkened. "Alright, alright, let's eat first. The food is getting cold."
She first unbuttoned William's shirt and, after confirming the wound was indeed okay, finally felt relieved. She called everyone into the house to eat together.
When Amelia came out with the two kids, she immediately sensed something was off about the atmosphere.
Emily's face was flushed, and although William looked normal, if you looked carefully, there was a faint smile playing in his eyes.
Something's not right. Speaking from experience, Amelia could tell at a glance that the atmosphere between them was off - quite intimate, actually.
Although she'd had a failed marriage, Brian had been good to her before that. They'd had a happy period together, and when they were in their honeymoon phase, they'd been just like this.
And now she saw it on Emily's face too. Didn't that mean there was progress between them?
At this thought, Amelia was delighted.
After dinner, Amelia immediately found an excuse to go back to her room, leaving the two of them alone.
But Emily didn't say much to William. They'd already said pretty much everything they needed to say.
William left. Although he really wanted to stay with Emily, develop their relationship, and work on convincing her to go home with him.
But right now, he still had other things to do. Even though his wound hadn't fully healed, he had to finish dealing with the organization's matters ahead of time. Only then would he have the time and space to be with Emily.
When the time came, as long as Emily was willing, he would immediately take Emily and the kids home.
After William left, the living room returned to quiet.
Oscar and Nina were watching TV on the side, laughing away.
Emily walked over. "Oscar, Nina, come back to the room with me. I need to talk to you."
"Mommy, what's wrong?"
Oscar looked at Emily curiously. "Is it about Mr. Brown?"
Emily nodded and took the two kids back to the room.
She had to respect the two children's thoughts on this matter.
After the door closed, Emily sat in front of Oscar and Nina. After hesitating for a long time, she still couldn't bring herself to speak.
She didn't know what these two kids' attitude was toward their biological father. The two kids had indeed gotten along well with William before.
But now that their relationship had changed, everything needed to be reconsidered.
The two kids looked at Emily expectantly. After struggling for a while, Emily said softly, "What do you think of Mr. Brown?"
"Mr. Brown is great!"
Nina was the first to answer. "I really like Mr. Brown. He's very good to us, too. Mr. Brown is a genuinely good guy."
Although Oscar didn't speak, he nodded along.
Truth be told, William was indeed very good, not like those other bad men who approached Emily.
