Chapter 14
Sophia couldn't be bothered to look at her anymore. She snorted coldly and turned her head away. "Don't ruin her face, or we won't be able to explain it to Mr. Wilson."
If it weren't for the fact that Emily was supposed to be sent to Daniel Wilson's bed tonight, Sophia wouldn't have let go of the chance to torture her so easily.
A cold towel was roughly pressed against the handprint still burning on her cheek.
Emily was dragged by two servants and shoved into the car. After a bumpy ride, she was taken to a scenic hotel on the outskirts of the city.
Her hands were tied behind her back, and her mouth was covered with tape.
The door slammed shut, and the click of the lock sounded like a heavy blow. Emily stumbled backward and finally fell onto the bed.
Those people hadn't taken her phone.
And this was her only chance.
But just as Emily was secretly searching for her phone, the sound of water from the bathroom suddenly stopped.
A man walked out wrapped in a bathrobe, tall and straight, with a trace of gentleness in his eyes, but the dark circles under them clearly showed signs of excessive indulgence.
Daniel's hair was still dripping with water as he walked straight up to Emily and grabbed her chin. "You really are a beauty. No wonder I was willing to sleep with you back then."
His frivolous words carried some urgency, though there seemed to be something forced about them.
"Don't be afraid. Since I slept with you back then and you gave birth to two children for me, I definitely won't treat you badly. As long as you keep me company tonight, I'll accept those two little bastards." Daniel said with a confident smile curling at the corner of his lips.
Emily looked at the man in front of her, her eyes instantly filling with coldness.
Before Daniel could get any closer, she lifted her foot and kicked him precisely in the belly.
Daniel groaned in pain, bending over and curling up on the ground. The gentleness he had deliberately shown couldn't be maintained anymore, leaving only a twisted expression.
"Bitch!" He clutched himself and staggered to his feet, coming toward Emily with a vicious expression.
As the distance between them grew shorter, Emily's heart filled with panic.
She forced herself to stay calm, her hands constantly feeling behind her. Using the edge of the bedside table, she finally found a chance to escape.
The rope on her hands was instantly pulled loose. Without a moment's hesitation, Emily grabbed the coat scattered on the sofa, wrapped it tightly around herself, and rushed toward the door.
Her fingers fumbled for the door handle, only to find it had already been locked from the outside.
Behind her came Daniel's furious cursing. Emily steeled herself, grabbed the lamp nearby, and smashed it hard against the lock. With a crash, the lock broke.
Emily pulled open the door and rushed out. The hallway was empty, with emergency lights casting a green glow on her pale face.
Emily didn't dare look back. She could only run desperately toward the stairwell. Even when her shoes fell off, she didn't bother to pick them up. Her bare feet stepped on the cold stairs as she just wanted to escape this filthy place as quickly as possible.
Behind her, Daniel didn't stop chasing, but he had just been kicked in the groin by Emily, and the pain made it difficult for him to speed up.
He could only watch helplessly as Emily ran out of the hotel, her figure swallowed by the night wind and disappearing into the darkness.
"Bitch!" Daniel cursed and pulled out his phone to call Sophia.
"Is this the gift you sent me? The Wilson family will never cooperate with the Johnson family." With one sentence, he decided that everything Sophia had done tonight was a waste of effort.
Although Daniel wasn't favored at home, if he was mistreated, it meant the Wilson family was mistreated. The Wilson family would never let this go easily, and as for cooperation with the Johnson family, that was out of the question.
On the other end of the phone, Sophia's hand holding the phone trembled continuously, her face deathly pale.
She had wanted to get rid of Emily, the big trouble, while also getting on the Wilson family's good side, but instead, she had outsmarted herself.
Although she didn't know what Emily had done in front of Daniel, it certainly wasn't anything good.
"Go catch her and bring her back!"
The phone line went dead with a busy tone. Sophia gripped her phone tightly, veins bulging on the back of her hand.
"Ms. Johnson, we don't know where she ran to now." Seeing her furious state, the bodyguard could only speak up reluctantly.
"Then go look for her at the cottage. If that doesn't work, grab those two bastards." She answered through gritted teeth, her eyes full of undisguised hatred.
Emily had ruined everything as soon as she came back. What a bitch.
The bodyguard received the order and immediately drove to the cottage.
But the cottage at this moment was completely different from during the day, surrounded by a circle of people.
"Who are you?" Sophia got out of the car and looked at the circle of bodyguards around the cottage, her expression ugly.
She knew Emily would definitely come back, which was why she was intercepting here. If that didn't work, she could grab those two little bastards as leverage.
She had thought it through, but the circle of bodyguards outside the cottage was clearly not easy to deal with.
Facing her cold inquiry, the bodyguards just looked at each other and remained silent.
Sophia was in a terrible mood right now. She didn't care whether these people were trouble or not. She waved her hand, signaling her own bodyguards to move forward.
Her plan today absolutely could not have any mistakes.
If she didn't tie up Emily and bring her to Daniel to apologize, once she got home, even Brian wouldn't let her off.
The bodyguards received her order and had to suppress their fear and move forward.
The people on the other side were clearly not simple either. Both sides began fighting, with muffled grunts rising and falling.
But Sophia's people were already at a disadvantage.
"Useless, all useless!" Seeing this path wouldn't work, Sophia didn't hesitate. She turned around, got in the car, and told the driver to leave quickly.
The bodyguards she left behind felt betrayed but didn't dare say a word.
"If you dare come here to cause trouble again, don't blame us for being rude." The head bodyguard guarding the cottage spoke, his voice as if dipped in ice, making people shiver.
"Okay." The other side's bodyguards nodded, suppressing their dissatisfaction with Sophia, and left dejectedly, supporting each other.
"Mr. Brown, they won't come back to cause trouble for now."
After making sure the people had completely left, the head bodyguard turned and entered the cottage, quietly reporting to William, who was sitting in a wheelchair.
William nodded slightly, his expression cold.
"Have you found out where she is?"
The person he was referring to was naturally Emily.
The head bodyguard shook his head, his brow furrowed.
"Our people are still investigating."
William nodded without saying more, but felt slightly relieved inside.
If Sophia brought people looking for her, that meant Emily should have already escaped on her own.
As for where she had run to now, William's people were still investigating.
Heavy footsteps sounded from not far outside the cottage, accompanied by a clear whistle.
