Chapter 102
"Hello, I need to report a crime!" Emily's hands were shaking badly, and so was her voice, but her tone was firm.
She quickly explained her mother's current situation.
"Sir, I'm absolutely sure my mother was taken by my father. I have video evidence - he sent it to me himself. I also know where the Johnson Villa is. I'll send you the location right away."
Emily communicated with the police as fast as she could, grabbed her coat, and headed downstairs to catch a cab.
But as soon as she opened the door, she saw three children standing outside with worried looks on their faces.
When they saw Emily come out, the gloom on their faces disappeared.
"Mommy, you're finally out."
Oscar, usually quiet, now showed a bright smile and was clearly relieved.
"Mommy, why did you lock yourself in your room for so long? We were so worried."
"Good thing you came out, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to sleep tonight."
"Yeah, Mommy." Nina nodded beside her, hugging Emily's waist. "Mommy, what happened? Why are you in such a rush? Tell me, okay? I can comfort you."
Although Aiden didn't say anything, his expression gave away his thoughts - he was just as worried as Oscar and Nina.
Emily looked at them. "Good children, can you wait at home for me?"
Emily crouched down and said quickly, "I need to handle something very important right now. It's about Grandma. I don't have time to stay with you."
"But I'll come back as soon as I can. Stay home and be good, okay?" Emily felt so guilty.
Last time when Rodolfo had his accident and she rushed to the hospital, she had to leave the three children at home temporarily. She was very worried then and specially asked a neighbor to help watch them.
But today, having just moved here, with no neighbors or anyone she knew around, she had no choice but to take the risk and leave the children at home.
Oscar and Nina exchanged glances. The two children had many questions, but seeing Emily in such a hurry, they couldn't bring themselves to ask.
Oscar nodded hard. "Mommy, go do what you need to do. I'll take good care of Nina."
"And me, and me!" Aiden quickly raised his hand. "I'll take good care of Oscar and Nina. I won't let them run out the door. Aunt Emily, make sure you come back soon after you're done, okay?"
"Thank you, sweetheart." Emily said this to Aiden, her eyes full of gratitude.
Although the children were all about the same age, Emily could feel that Aiden was the most mature one.
In front of Oscar and Nina, he was always the big brother. He knew this himself and always quietly took on the responsibility of looking after his younger siblings.
Emily still had many concerns, but the current situation didn't allow her to think too much about it.
The police were already heading to the Johnson Villa. She had to get there as soon as possible.
Emily gave a few more instructions and was about to leave when the doorbell rang.
Could it be William coming back?
Emily's heart lifted, and she hurried to open the door.
However, the person outside wasn't William, but Rodolfo.
"Mr. McCoy?" Emily blurted out in surprise, completely taken aback.
"Mr. McCoy, how did you get here?"
She was in such a rush that she hadn't bothered to check through the peephole to see who it was.
Strange? How did Rodolfo find this place? She had clearly moved to a new home.
"Emily, I finally found you." Rodolfo breathed a sigh of relief and nodded slightly.
"I went to your old place to find you. A neighbor said you'd moved, so I tracked you down here."
"I figured that even if you went out to work this late, you should be back by now. Sure enough, you're really home."
Emily then remembered that before leaving, she had indeed given her new address to her former neighbor.
Although she hadn't lived there long, they got along quite well, and there might be occasions to stay in touch in the future, so she had given out her address.
"Mr. McCoy, I'm sorry." Emily said quickly. "I have something very important to deal with right now and can't stay with you."
"But your timing is perfect. Could you please help me look after the children?" Emily's eyes were full of pleading.
Time was too tight. She simply didn't have time to explain what had happened, but with Rodolfo helping her watch the children, she could at least feel more at ease.
Even if she didn't come back all night, she wouldn't have to worry about something happening to the three children at home.
Only then did Rodolfo notice how anxious Emily's eyes were. Without time to think much, he quickly nodded. "Go take care of your business. I've got things here."
"Thank you, Mr. McCoy." Emily let out a huge sigh of relief. She couldn't spare time for anything else and rushed out the door.
Rodolfo watched Emily's hurried figure and sighed quietly to himself.
It seemed that no matter when he saw Emily, she was always in such a rush, with endless problems to solve every day.
This time he didn't even know what was wrong - she couldn't spare a single word to talk to him. He'd ask her properly when she got back.
Rodolfo entered the house and looked around.
He had watched the variety show a few days ago. Emily's performance was outstanding, so naturally he knew she had made quite a bit of money.
Seeing that Emily was no longer short of money, living in such a big house, with the children all by her side, each one safe and sound, Rodolfo was genuinely happy for Emily from the bottom of his heart.
"Mr. McCoy, you're here." Aiden was the first to greet him.
Although he was worried about Emily, he also understood hospitality. When guests came to visit his grandfather at the Brown Mansion, the servants always welcomed them warmly and quickly offered them seats.
Now it was his turn, so he followed their example and brought over a chair.
Rodolfo responded and sat down with a smile. "Do you know what your mommy went to take care of?"
Seeing Oscar and Nina come over, he asked gently.
The two children shook their heads in unison.
Rodolfo frowned slightly.
Strange? What could Emily be dealing with that was so urgent? She couldn't even stay with the children.
Whatever, he'd help her look after them for a while. Emily should be back soon.
He had nothing else to do tonight anyway. He had originally wanted to come find Emily for a good chat.
Before, she was afraid of getting him involved and cut off contact completely, but Rodolfo was very worried, afraid something would go wrong on Emily's end.
In the past when she ran into trouble, she had him to help. Now she could only rely on herself for everything. Of course he'd be worried.
But it looked like Emily was doing pretty well. The children were all dressed cleanly and in good health.
This gave him great comfort.
When Emily arrived at the Johnson Villa by taxi, several police officers were chatting downstairs.
The Johnson Villa was brightly lit, with lights on in almost every room. Strangely, there were no security guards at the entrance.
