Chapter 211

Chapter 211

"Nope," All of them were lacy, in bright, bold colors.

William's gaze bore down on Sophia, a flicker of panic crossing his eyes.

It seemed like he had no clue about what Sophia actually liked.

Their meals, all catered to his preferences.

Even though Sophia had added some new pieces, most of the furniture at home still reflected his taste.

From the clothes they wore to the food on the table, even the intimacy in bed.

William suddenly shot up from his seat. "I'm heading to the office."

Before the words fully left his mouth, he was already at the door, looking somewhat disheveled, almost like he was escaping.

Sophia averted her gaze, tossed the egg yolk into the trash, and turned back to the room.

Standing by the French window, she watched William's car leave the compound and speed towards the flat's back door.

Indeed, the house they currently resided in had a back door.

In this fancy neighborhood, every house boasted two entrances, with the front one for guests and the back one leading straight to the underground garage.

William usually preferred parking the car downstairs, causing the back door to fall into disuse gradually.

Sophia eyed the keypad above, her heart racing.

Having carefully observed William's password habits, she slowly extended her hand, held her breath, and punched in a few numbers. The door clicked open.

Grabbing her bag and phone, Sophia dashed downstairs.

The wind howled in her ears as she avoided the elevator, sprinting all the way to the underground garage.

Her head spinning, Sophia quickly located the car she typically drove. "Perfect."

A grin spread across Sophia's face as she reached for the car door, but a slender hand suddenly clasped her wrist.

"Not behaving, huh? Where do you think you're sneaking off to?" William's icy voice cut through the air.

A shiver ran down Sophia's spine as she nervously mumbled, "I..."

"Carefully consider how you're gonna explain yourself." William's thin lips parted, his tone almost mocking.

Sophia turned to face William's smiling eyes, a chill settling in her heart.

Their bodies pressed close together.

Sophia locked eyes with William, words teetering on the edge of her tongue, but she hesitated.

Suddenly, William narrowed his eyes, his slender fingers caressing Sophia's hair gently. "Thinking of making a run for it? Tell me, what am I supposed to do with you?"

His fingers lightly traced Sophia's cheek before resting on her lips.

"I..."

"Forget it, should I just leash you?"

"No." Sophia's response was swift.

"No?" William chuckled as if he found it amusing.

Playing with Sophia's hair casually, William's tone was cryptic. "Or should you beg me?"

"Please, don't do this?"

"Then why were you trying to bolt?"

William narrowed his eyes, moving closer until their breaths mingled.

Sophia felt incredibly awkward, her gaze darting away.

William's hand, gripping her hair, exerted a slight pressure. Sophia winced in pain, the atmosphere growing tense around them.

She looked up, meeting William's cold gaze. "Let's discuss this at home."

With people milling about, Sophia didn't want to be the talk of the town.

Besides, William had now become the family heir, with countless eyes watching them from the shadows.

It was best to steer clear of unnecessary trouble.

Head bowed, Sophia slipped out from under William's arm and took the elevator back home.

As they arrived home, William scooped up Sophia and tossed her onto the bed.

"Why would you try to bolt?" William's towering frame loomed over her, his fingers skimming lightly over Sophia's skin, his tone dripping with menace. "How 'bout I hook you up with a cage or a chain?"

William delivered the most chilling words in the softest voice.

Sophia's blood turned to ice, and her face drained of color.

Her terrified gaze bore into William, searching for a hint of threat in his eyes.

But there was none to be found.

William was dead serious about restraining her.

Realizing this, Sophia's eyes pleaded, "Please, you can't treat me like this."

"Why not?" William drawled lazily, his eyes fixed on Sophia as if she were a mere toy.

His deep, cold, and deranged eyes held no trace of love or mercy.

"I won't run again, I swear."

"It's too late, but today I'll take you somewhere nice."

William seized Sophia's hand and pulled her outside.

As she was dragged along, Sophia resisted being forced into the car.

William stepped on the gas and drove towards the outskirts.

Understanding their destination, Sophia clung to a tree, refusing to budge. "Let me go, please, I don't want to go there."

"It's too late, be a good girl." William glanced back, his voice soft and indulgent as he stroked Sophia's hair. "Be good."

Despite her fearful gaze, he plucked her from the tree one by one. Despite her resistance, she was dragged away.

"No."

Her struggles, kicks, and punches were futile as she was hauled to William's hidden lair.

It was a sprawling secret hideout.

The headquarters of the Ghost Slayer.

Upon entering, a heavy stench of blood permeated the air.

Bones of various animals and humans littered the space, each sight more nightmarish than the last.

A bone-chilling wind whistled in their ears, sending shivers down Sophia's spine and tears welling up in her eyes.

Desperate to flee, Sophia was forcefully led into a cave.

"Check this out, dig it? It's a little present for you, how 'bout that?" William's voice reverberated in the darkness.

Sophia shook her head vigorously.

Within the cave, the darkness was alive with pairs of gleaming green eyes, the hissing of snakes, and the eerie howl of the wind.

It was a snake pit, teeming with serpents.

Quaking with fear, Sophia's voice was icy, tinged with a plea. "Let's go back, I swear I won't run again, please don't leave me here, I'm begging you."

The horror was overwhelming.

Sophia couldn't fathom being surrounded by these snakes day in and day out.

William chuckled heartily, giving Sophia a penetrating look. "Fine, if you don't wanna hang here, then try to make me happy."

Making him happy, Sophia clenched her fists, stealing a glance at the snakes, attempting to steady her breathing. "What do you want me to do?"

"Obviously, I want you. You get one shot." William sauntered over to a corner, settling onto a leather sofa as if awaiting a service.

"So, you're not gonna cut me loose, huh?" Sophia's tone turned eerily calm, as if discussing the weather.

Casting a mocking glance at William, Sophia retorted, "Keep dreaming if you think I'll cater to you."

"Is that right?" William lifted his leg, his eyes full of scorn. "You can't stand me, but sorry, babe, you don't get a say."

With narrowed eyes, he advanced towards Sophia, enveloping her in his arms, causing her clothes to tear, revealing her smooth skin.

William's gaze darkened, his hand trailing down Sophia's chest to her thighs.

"No." Sophia quivered all over, her body rigid, hands pressed against her chest, eyes brimming with revulsion.
