Chapter 210 Losing Everything

Elizabeth stood up, her voice sharp and clear as she questioned Emily.

"The police wouldn't arrest an innocent person. The reason you're begging me today is because all your dirty laundry's out in the open. You're scared, and you're pleading for mercy."

The truth stung.

The crowd around them fell silent, not daring to say more.

Emily's face turned pale. She hadn't expected to be exposed so quickly. Forcing a smile, she tried to defend herself.

"Elizabeth, with your power now, isn't it easy for you to frame me and throw me in jail? Does it even matter if I'm innocent?"

Alice, hearing this, was furious, regretting not having cursed her out earlier.

Elizabeth, however, remained calm, taking a step back with a smile.

"If you think I'm out to get you and frame an innocent person, then let the police come and arrest me."

Emily was speechless again.

Her words were always easily dismantled.

This time, before she could continue to argue, someone nearby couldn't hold back and started cursing.

"She's your sister. Didn't you say you took good care of her? How can you say such things about her?"

"Yeah, she must have been corrupted by that homewrecker. She was never a good person from the start, and now she's using us!"

The crowd finally realized what was happening and began to hurl insults at Emily.

"Who knows whose child she is? She probably doesn't even have the same last name as Elizabeth. No wonder she's so different from Elizabeth!"

Hearing this, Emily felt wronged and started crying.

"Say whatever you want about me, but leave my mom out of it!"

Jessa was already in a terrible situation, and Emily couldn't help her. She could only watch as Jessa faced legal judgment.

But she wouldn't allow these people to tarnish her mother's reputation!

Unable to hold back any longer, she exploded, shouting at the crowd.

"Why do you all have to humiliate me? What right do you have to push me? Do you want me to die to make you happy? Fine, I can't live like this anymore. I'll just die here today! You're all murderers!"

The power of public opinion is indeed formidable and can easily drive someone to their breaking point.

Hearing Emily's words, the crowd was almost scared to death and quickly began to apologize.

Amidst the chaotic noise, Elizabeth and Alice exchanged a knowing glance.

Emily was at it again, using her usual tricks to find a way to fight back even at her lowest point.

But today, with Elizabeth here, her plan would not succeed.

As everyone frantically apologized, Elizabeth borrowed a loudspeaker from the jewelry store staff and clearly shouted at Emily.

"Fine, if you want to die, just jump out of that window. Stop using death to threaten others. Your life means nothing to me. If you die, it would only make me happier. But would you really do it?"

Emily froze, glaring at her with hatred.

Elizabeth continued, "Don't be fooled by her. If she really wanted to die, she wouldn't have come here to beg me today."

Emily, seething with rage, tore off her coat and lunged at Elizabeth, trying to strangle her.

But she was no match for Elizabeth. Before she could get close, Elizabeth grabbed her by the neck and pushed her aside.

Emily crashed into a glass display case, clutching her shoulder in pain and screaming.

No one dared to intervene. Elizabeth was about to speak again when she noticed something shiny around Emily's collarbone.

It looked familiar. Elizabeth walked over and pulled open Emily's collar.

Under the bright lights of the jewelry store, the white pear-shaped diamond pendant around Emily's neck was unmistakable.

The extraordinary cut reflected the light, showcasing its beauty.

This was the necklace that had failed to sell for four million dollars twenty years ago. In today's world, it was priceless.

This was the Skye family heirloom! It belonged to Elizabeth's mother!

And now, it was around Emily's neck!

Furious, Elizabeth yanked it off, not caring how much it hurt Emily, and grabbed her jaw.

"Thief, this necklace has been with you all this time. Did you never think of returning it?"

Emily, enraged and ignoring the pain in her shoulder and neck, reached out to snatch it back.

"This was given to me by my mother, so it's mine. How dare you take it!"

This was the most valuable thing Emily had left. She didn't dare leave it in her hotel room and wore it around her neck to ensure it wouldn't be lost.

She had planned to sell it once she officially joined the Verdantia National Laboratory and use the money to live comfortably.

Seeing Elizabeth take it, Emily panicked. "Give it back to me!"

Elizabeth stared at her, unmoved. To ensure its safety, Alice bought a jewelry box from the store and placed the necklace inside.

Seeing this, Emily could only change her strategy in anger.

"Fine, I'll give you the necklace. Just don't press charges against me. You clear up the mess at the police station, and I'll return the necklace!"

Alice was livid. She had never seen such a shameless woman.

The necklace clearly belonged to the Skye family, and Elizabeth was merely reclaiming it from a thief. Yet Emily had the audacity to demand an exchange?

Elizabeth had no intention of responding to her. She let go of Emily in disgust and turned to leave, eager to take the necklace home.

Before leaving, she looked at Emily, who was about to chase after her, and coldly said, "You've completely angered me, Emily. Just wait."

The crowd dispersed, with no one sympathizing with Emily.

She touched her now empty neck, the pain in her shoulder reminding her that this was real, not a dream.

In this farce, Emily had gained nothing and lost her last valuable possession, leaving her with nothing.

She couldn't accept it, standing there in a daze, her mind blank.

The jewelry store staff, seeing her state, disdainfully called mall security.

A few minutes later, Emily was thrown out of the mall.
