Chapter 757

Chapter 757

"Hey, take it easy, man. Don't push it. Maggie already turned Raymond down, right? We'll see if it's really over with time. Some things just can't be forgotten that easily."

Daryl shot Patrick a frustrated look.

"Patrick, what do you know? Even though that whole thing was a misunderstanding and there's no real bad blood between Raymond and Margaret, Raymond still kicked her out of the Seymour family. That's a fact. They had Liberty together, and he didn't step up. That's also a fact."

"Margaret went through hell in Rainbowland because of Raymond. If she ever got back with him, I'd never be okay with it."

Margaret felt a headache coming on. Her mind was already a mess, and Daryl's words only made it worst.

"Don't worry, I'm not getting back with Raymond. If you guys don't have anything work-related to talk about, I'm gonna go pack my stuff."

With that, Margaret turned and left, leaving Daryl and Patrick in the living room.

Patrick looked anxious.

"See, I told you we shouldn't bring this up so soon. Raymond and Margaret are done, and she's back in Rainbowland. I can take my time with her."

"I've got all the patience in the world. As long as she's around, I don't care if we end up together or not."

Margaret's decision to return to Rainbowland and turn down Raymond's proposal made Patrick happy. She had previously rejected his confession, which left him disappointed, but now he felt he had another shot.

Daryl sighed, feeling helpless.

"You don't get it. Margaret's really vulnerable and confused right now. If you step in and help her, she might develop a special fondness for you, which could bring you two closer."

Patrick sighed in frustration.

"Master, I've helped Maggie a lot before, but she only feels grateful towards me, not the kind of love couples have."

Margaret's return to Rainbowland with Liberty meant she had no intention of going back to Crystaland, giving Patrick plenty of time to pursue her.

He hadn't expected Daryl to be so anxious. Seeing Margaret return, Daryl had immediately followed her to Rainbowland and gone to her house shortly after getting off the plane.

Patrick understood Margaret well. He knew that the more pressure was put on her, the more she would resist.

After Daryl and Patrick left, Liberty woke up. When Margaret finished tidying up and went to Liberty's bedroom, she found Liberty crying softly under the covers.

Hearing Liberty's sobs made Margaret feel even worse. Her mood was already low, and now she wondered if she had made the wrong decision.

Margaret wanted to comfort Liberty, but she knew that as long as she wasn't with Raymond, Liberty would be sad. No amount of consolation could fill the void in Liberty's heart.

Margaret quietly closed the bedroom door and went to the living room. From the moment she got off the plane, she had felt a constant pressure. Hearing Liberty's crying, she couldn't hold back her own tears.

When she heard Liberty's footsteps, she quickly wiped her tears away and put on a composed face.

"Liberty, you're awake. Are you hungry?"

Liberty felt miserable inside, but seeing Margaret's red eyes, she guessed her mother had been crying too. She tried to appear cheerful.

"Yeah, Mom. I'm a bit hungry. If you're tired, we can go out to eat. If not, you can cook for me."

Margaret smiled faintly.

"Alright, I'll cook for you."

Margaret went to the kitchen and soon prepared lunch. Though they ate, neither had much of an appetite. They forced themselves to eat more, not wanting to burden each other.

The next morning, Margaret went to work, leaving Liberty alone at home. Daryl came by the house.

Seeing Liberty sitting there, expressionless and silent, made Daryl feel uncomfortable. He had watched Liberty grow up. She had always been bright and lively.

Liberty's face had never shown sadness before, but now she was sitting there, lost in thought. Daryl felt a pang of sorrow.

He had intended to ask Liberty to persuade Margaret to accept Patrick, but seeing Liberty's swollen eyes, he realized how cruel that would be for her.

"Liberty, what are you up to?"

Liberty turned to him, trying to hide her sadness, and smiled.

"Not much, Daryl. I'm bored. I can't start school until next week since Mom is handling my transfer from Crystaland."

Daryl sighed. He knew Liberty was more mature than most kids.

"Liberty, you don't want your parents to be apart, do you?"

Liberty sighed deeply and nodded.

"Yeah, Daryl. I finally found my dad and have only spent half a year with him. I really miss him! But I don't understand why Mom can't be with him. The misunderstanding from back then is cleared up. Why can't she accept him?"
