Chapter 79 Scarlett and Daniel Each Find New Partners
"What do you mean they're both seeing other people?"
Tom asked, glancing at Chris's phone screen. His expression changed slightly.
Two trending topics were listed almost one after another.
#Daniel's Romantic Flower Delivery#
#Hottest Racer William Possibly Dating#
"Mr. Jackson, I won't see you out. Take care."
Tom hurriedly said goodbye to Chris and rushed toward the CEO's office.
Before entering the office, Tom had already read through the trending topics.
"Mr. Daniel Wilson, both you and Mrs. Scarlett Wilson are trending. Yesterday when you went to Miss Brown's solo concert, Mrs. Blair Wilson asked you to hold a bouquet for her. Who knew someone would photograph you holding the flowers and post it online? It's getting a lot of attention now."
"Mrs. Scarlett Wilson went to watch Mr. William Wilson's race last night and got misunderstood. Some photos that look intimate were also posted and are trending..."
Tom handed over his phone as he spoke, feeling uneasy.
Because those photos of Scarlett and William did look pretty intimate.
Although Scarlett and William were just family, the internet users didn't know that. Everyone was saying Daniel had been embarrassed.
He wondered if Daniel would blow up after seeing this.
However, Daniel seemed completely uninterested in the online rumors and simply said, "Isn't the video conference starting soon? Go prepare."
Tom was somewhat stunned as he took his phone back. "What about the trending topics?"
"Remove mine," Daniel instructed.
Tom nodded. "Got it. Then Mrs. Wilson's will definitely also..."
Tom instinctively assumed that William and Scarlett's rumor would also be removed.
But Daniel spoke coldly again, "Don't worry about the rest. And don't report anything about her to me anymore."
"What?" Tom was completely stunned.
Daniel looked up, clearly dissatisfied with his reaction.
"Didn't you understand?"
Tom quickly shook his head. "I understand."
But as Tom left the office, he looked back in disbelief.
Behind the desk, Daniel's expression was calm, as composed as always.
Yet Daniel had actually turned a blind eye to Scarlett's situation.
This was big trouble!
In the dance studio, Scarlett sat down drenched in sweat, drinking water during a break.
Sarah was stretching nearby while checking the trending topics.
"Scarlett, you really trend easily! One after another. But internet users are saying you and William look great together!
Wild and rebellious racer X cool and stunning campus beauty - these internet users are amazing, they've already dug up that you were the campus beauty in college and found your championship dance video from Rhythm of the Lotus."
Last night, Scarlett and Sarah went to watch William's race together.
Scarlett just talked to William a bit more, but someone found angles to photograph them looking supposedly intimate and posted it online.
William had just returned to the country and had quite a bit of buzz, so Scarlett got dragged into the trending topics.
She didn't really care though. She wasn't a celebrity, so the attention would die down quickly. But Sarah was enjoying watching the drama unfold.
"Good thing we went to watch the race yesterday. Otherwise, today that bitch Alice would be trending with Daniel, and we'd just have to watch and feel annoyed. Now it's one trending topic each - fair and square, how nice!
But I bet that bitch Alice and Daniel's trending topic was definitely arranged by Alice herself. Only she would pull this kind of stunt!"
Scarlett had also seen Daniel and Alice's trending topic.
In the photo, Daniel was holding a large bouquet of flowers - he must have personally gone on stage to give Alice flowers.
In two years of marriage, Scarlett had never received flowers from Daniel anyway.
The photo also captured Reid, Thora, and Blair sitting together. Internet users were all saying Alice and Daniel's wedding was approaching.
They were saying how great it was that they grew up together, how harmoniously both families got along. Some users had even listed all the auspicious wedding dates for this year, urging them to get married.
"Daniel's way too eager. He just signed the divorce papers here, and over there he's already preparing to marry that two-faced bitch! What a bastard, cheating so blatantly he's not afraid of tearing his own dick!"
Scarlett fell silent.
"Wait, I can't post comments anymore? Looks like the trending topic got removed?"
Sarah refreshed a couple times. Not only was the trending topic removed, but the whole internet was scrubbed clean - all related news, posts, and comments were deleted.
That was pretty impressive.
"Daniel's doing?" Sarah asked.
Scarlett nodded. "Probably."
To clean it up this thoroughly, only Daniel could pull it off.
Sarah clicked her tongue. "What's Daniel thinking? That two-faced Alice must be furious, right? These damn cheaters are interesting - they're already at odds before even getting married?"
Scarlett just smiled faintly. She wasn't surprised.
"Daniel never liked being high-profile to begin with. Him removing the trending topic doesn't mean he's going against Alice. We haven't officially divorced yet. Maybe he doesn't want people to discover too early that Alice is a homewrecker, doesn't want her to be labeled as the other woman. He's protecting Alice."
Scarlett's analysis was logical. She wasn't sad or upset.
Sarah didn't know whether to be happy or sad for her.
Sarah felt heartbroken for Scarlett.
Sarah waved her hand. "Let's not talk about that bad man and that bitch anymore. I'm going to look at photos of you and William to cleanse my eyes. Daniel won't remove your trending topic too, will he?"
Seeing that Scarlett and William's trending topic was still there, even climbing higher in the rankings, Sarah said.
"This trending topic is basically proof of Daniel being embarrassed!"
Scarlett's gaze fell on it, her eyes quiet for a moment.
Since Daniel had removed his trending topic with Alice, he must have already known about Scarlett and William trending.
Daniel didn't care, which clearly meant he had truly let go of this relationship and no longer saw Scarlett as his wife.
That was good.
"Scarlett? What are you thinking about? Did you hear me?"
Awakened by Sarah's voice, Scarlett realized she had zoned out without knowing it.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm saying malicious people are everywhere. Look, they're mocking you for having no fame at all, saying you're not good enough for William."
Seeing Sarah's face flushed with anger, Scarlett laughed and ruffled her hair.
"You're silly. William and I aren't in that kind of relationship. Whether I'm good enough or not is meaningless. Why are you bothering with them?"
"Still not okay! I can't stand anyone saying anything bad about you! And there's this person pretending to know a lot about dance, bringing up how world-class dance master Vivienne is arriving in Shadow City this afternoon, saying Vivienne is the kind of impressive figure that domestic dancers can barely even meet."
Sarah excitedly pulled Scarlett. "Aren't you going to the airport this afternoon to meet Ms. Mae? Quick, let's prepare some pretty clothes. This afternoon, let's show those malicious people what you're capable of!"
Vivienne was coming to the country this time with her ballet troupe for a world tour. The venue wasn't Shadow City, but the Regal City Arts Center.
She would stay in Shadow City for half a day to have a brief exchange with several domestic dancers.
Time was tight, but Vivienne was willing to interview Scarlett during her break.
Scarlett had already coordinated with Vivienne's assistant Anna to pick her up at the airport and accompany Vivienne back to the hotel.
Scarlett went to pick up the flowers she had ordered. As she was approaching the airport, William called.
"Scarlett, I just came out of three hours of simulator training and found out about the trending topic. I've had my assistant contact people to remove it. Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. But William, how come you as an athlete are acting like a celebrity?"
Just watching a race with him could cause a trending topic - Scarlett hadn't expected that.
"Can't help it. My looks are so good they always overshadow my talent. Such a headache."
Scarlett laughed softly. "Your talent is clearly overshadowed by your arrogance! Don't worry about the trending topic on my account. It doesn't matter to me whether it's removed or not."
After all, removing trending topics costs money. Scarlett didn't want William to spend extra money and effort considering her.
But William picked up on something different. "Scarlett, you and Daniel aren't really getting divorced, are you?"
Scarlett didn't hide it from him. "Yes, but keep it secret for us for now. I have something to do here. Hanging up."
Picking up Vivienne went smoothly. Vivienne was different from what Scarlett had imagined - not cold at all, but easygoing and even a bit innocent and romantic.
On the way back to the hotel, Scarlett played tour guide, introducing Vivienne to many scenic spots and local customs of Shadow City and Regal City.
Vivienne and Scarlett hit it off, and back at the hotel, Vivienne kept Scarlett by her side the whole time.
What Scarlett hadn't expected was that at the door of Vivienne's reserved hotel room, she would run into Daniel and Alice's group.
