Chapter 63 Reversal, I'll Wait for You
Scarlett couldn't believe it. "I don't have clothes or shoes on!"
She'd been carried out in her pajamas, and now he was going to dump her on the side of the road.
Daniel sneered coldly, "You can choose to apologize."
He was waiting for her to beg.
However, the next second, Scarlett, who had been glaring at him and refusing to get out, suddenly turned around, yanked the car door open, and jumped out.
She even slammed the door so hard it shook.
Daniel's face turned dark as iron, his hands on his knees clenched into fists.
Otto got in the car, and Daniel said coldly, "Drive!"
Otto, an old employee of the Wilson family, tried to reason with him: "Mr. Wilson, it's pitch dark out there, Mrs. Wilson is dressed so lightly, she doesn't even have her phone, and the weather's turning bad..."
Daniel cut him off coldly, "She's the one who wanted to get out."
Otto wondered if Daniel meant for him to go persuade Scarlett to come back.
Just then, outside, Scarlett had already turned around and was walking away in the opposite direction without looking back. The temperature in the car dropped even further.
Scarlett hugged her shoulders, but it couldn't block the cold wind.
The autumn night was chilly, and the weather had turned. The nightgown she wore was very thin, only reaching her knees.
Her bare feet stepped on the road surface, cold and hard.
But she didn't want to go back and beg Daniel. She had her pride too, she wouldn't just let him push her around.
Behind her came the sound of the car leaving and something being thrown out.
Scarlett turned back. The car had kicked up a ground full of fallen leaves and was already far away, while a blanket lay on the ground.
Probably thought her stuff was dirty and would mess up his car.
Scarlett paused, turned back, shook out the blanket and wrapped it around herself.
She started walking back again. Rain drops fell through the gaps in the tree leaves overhead, and Scarlett quickened her pace.
She calculated that the car hadn't driven far - walking for half an hour should get her home.
Luckily the weather was bad today and there weren't many people on the road, otherwise with her disheveled hair, wrapped in a blanket, walking barefoot on the street, she'd definitely be taken for a crazy person.
A car came up from behind and honked.
Scarlett's nose tingled with emotion, and she walked even faster.
Someone got out of the car, walked up quickly, and grabbed her.
"Scarlett."
"Didn't you leave? You jerk..."
Scarlett turned around, tears falling uncontrollably, like a ruffled kitten that would break down with just one pat.
But her expression quickly froze, because the person in front of her wasn't Daniel - it was Ramon.
"What happened? Never mind, don't explain now, get in the car first."
Ramon looked down at her feet and said.
In the car.
Ramon turned on the heat and handed Scarlett a towel, saying gently, "Dry yourself off."
Scarlett's hair was wet. She took it and wiped herself, "What are you doing here, Ramon?"
"I have another place at Grove Apartments, I live here too."
Scarlett was stunned, "Were you just getting off work, Ramon?"
"Yeah, two car accident patients were brought in when I was about to leave. I did two surgeries so I got held up till now."
Scarlett nodded, looking down without saying anything for a moment.
In the past, her contact with Ramon was mostly about James, and mostly at the hospital.
But recently, Ramon's actions made Scarlett feel something different.
Ramon knew Juno, casually had two apartments at Grove Apartments - his background was definitely not simple.
Grove Apartments wasn't close to the hospital, so why did he live here? Scarlett couldn't help but think more about it.
"Oh right, I printed out the rental contract." Ramon opened the driver's side glove box and took out a contract to hand over.
Scarlett didn't take it, smiling as she said.
"Ramon, Sarah and I talked it over, and we still think this place is a bit far from Sarah's school. We're looking at houses, planning to move out in the next couple days. Thanks for taking us in, Ramon."
They were both smart people. Ramon understood - this was Scarlett's polite refusal.
His hand holding the contract paused, then he withdrew it after a moment, smiling warmly and gently as always.
"Okay, if you can't find something suitable, no rush to move out."
"Okay, thank you Ramon." Scarlett thanked him again.
The car had already stopped. Scarlett opened the door to get out, but Ramon hadn't unlocked it.
Scarlett looked at him. Ramon bent down and took out a pair of shoes from under the driver's seat and handed them to her.
"I just put these in a few days ago, haven't worn them yet."
They were surgical shoes. Scarlett instinctively curled her dirty toes.
Ramon added, "No need to return them, just leave them at the rental."
Scarlett couldn't refuse again, especially since the ground outside was already wet from the rain.
"Ramon, you should head back." She took them, put them on, got out of the car and ran into the building.
Scarlett knocked on the door. Sarah looked completely surprised.
"How did you end up like this? Where's Daniel?"
Sarah quickly pulled her inside and poured her hot water.
Scarlett drank it and sneezed. Sarah pushed her into the bathroom.
After Scarlett came out from a hot shower and sat on the sofa, she briefly explained what had just happened, including refusing Ramon.
"Sarah, I'm sorry, we have to look for a place again."
"What are you talking about? But Ramon's a good guy. Daniel's getting more and more out of line - you really won't consider it?"
Scarlett shook her head, "It's not right."
Never mind that she was pregnant now and had no plans to remarry.
Even without the baby, the wounds in her heart needed a long time to heal. If she couldn't respond to his feelings, why waste Ramon's time?
"Alright then. You have that interview with Ms. Mae coming up soon, practice your dancing well, don't worry about finding a place."
Scarlett felt warm inside and leaned over to hug her. Sarah cried out.
"Are you hurt? Did Daniel's people do this?"
Scarlett went to pull up Sarah's clothes. Sarah dodged, "It's nothing, just twisted it."
Scarlett forcibly held her down and saw a large bruise on Sarah's back near her shoulder blade.
Scarlett silently went to get the medicine kit and rubbed ointment on Sarah.
Scarlett's presence was kind of scary. Sarah didn't dare speak, sitting quietly while Scarlett worked.
When Scarlett pulled her clothes back down, Sarah smiled and shrugged her shoulders.
"That really feels better."
Scarlett glared at her. Sarah linked arms with her and acted cute.
"Really, it doesn't hurt. I threw the first punch, and besides, I'm always getting bumps and bruises on set. When don't I have some bruise on me? This really isn't anything."
Looking at Sarah's smiling face, Scarlett's nose tingled.
"It's different."
"Okay, okay, let's talk about something happy. You don't know - that bitch Alice totally crashed and burned. Bruce's fans are all really fierce. Alice's Ins got completely taken over by Bruce's fans' comments.
They're saying her post was totally passive-aggressive. With her few fans, she's no match at all. Now everyone online is chasing her for screenshots of her charity donations."
Sarah showed Scarlett on her phone.
Indeed, Alice was losing followers like crazy, while Scarlett had gained from the disaster - her follower count had reached six million.
[My idol has great taste! Following Shadowlight, the songs are good, the dancing is amazing!]
[Been following Shadowlight for over a year, Bruce for nine months. I feel like both my idols have abandoned me now, who gets it?]
[This is such a dream collaboration!]
The hottest comment was a call-out, with a long thread below it.
[When is Shadowlight going to follow Bruce back!]
Scarlett's eyes curved with a smile. She clicked to follow back, and Sarah eagerly grabbed the phone and clicked into Alice's Ins.
The comments on Alice's Ins were really hostile, just like Scarlett's Ins had been earlier that evening.
"That damn Alice has lost fifty or sixty thousand followers. She must be freaking out right now! Serves her right!"
[If you're so great, show us how much you've donated, how much charity work you've done.]
[Why are you hiding now? Don't tell me you haven't donated a single cent all year, haven't made any contribution to society at all? Disgusting]
It really had completely turned around. Scarlett glanced at it briefly then urged Sarah to go to sleep.
"Stop scrolling, have you been online all day? You've got dark circles under your eyes!"
"Really? It's all that damn Alice's fault!" Sarah yelled as she ran into the bedroom.
Scarlett smiled and shook her head, went back to her room, and made a phone call.
After hanging up, Scarlett went on Facebook, removed Daniel from her blacklist, and sent him a message.
[Tomorrow at 9 AM, the coffee shop downstairs from the Star Group building. I'll be waiting for you.]
