Chapter 62 Daniel Went Crazy in the Middle of the Night
"Don't move, I'll go check."
Sarah held Scarlett down and jumped out of bed.
Scarlett didn't argue with her. She also got out of bed, grabbed a glass ornament from the nightstand, and followed.
Sarah opened the door and frowned. "Mr. Wilson?"
Daniel stood outside, dressed all in black, covered in frost.
His handsome face was cold and stern. His gaze swept lightly over Sarah, and the words she'd been ready to yell at him died in her throat.
Daniel ignored Sarah, stepped inside, and headed straight for Scarlett, who was standing at the bedroom door.
Scarlett stood there stunned. "How did you know I was staying here? And weren't you...!"
Before she could finish, Daniel scooped her up and carried her into the bedroom, then kicked the door shut behind him.
Sarah snapped out of it and rushed forward to push the door.
It was locked. Sarah anxiously pounded on it.
"Mr. Wilson, what are you doing? What are you going to do to Scarlett? Don't do anything crazy—open the door!"
Inside the bedroom, Daniel tossed Scarlett onto the bed, opened the closet, grabbed a piece of clothing, and threw it at her.
"Put this on. You're coming with me!"
Scarlett scrambled up in a daze, her hair all over her face. She was too angry to listen.
She pushed her messy hair aside and frowned.
"What are you freaking out about in the middle of the night? I'm not wearing it, and I'm not going with you! If you won't divorce me, we'll separate. After two years of separation, we can get divorced anyway!"
She stuck her chin out stubbornly, her face cold.
Daniel seemed surrounded by a cold mist. He stepped forward and grabbed Scarlett's chin.
"Separate? That's a nice thought! Without my permission, you're not going anywhere!"
He let go of her and stood up. "Not changing? Fine."
Scarlett sensed danger. She crossed her arms over her chest and backed away. "What are you trying to...!"
Before she could finish, a blanket covered her head.
Before she could react, Daniel grabbed her legs, flipped her onto the bed, and rolled her around a couple of times until the blanket wrapped her up like a cocoon.
Scarlett's vision spun, and suddenly she was hoisted onto his shoulder, blanket and all.
"Daniel! Put me down! I'm not going back! Are you crazy?!"
Scarlett kicked and struggled, but the blanket was wrapped too tightly. She had no room to move, and Daniel even smacked her hard on the butt.
Even through the blanket, she could feel it hurt.
"Scarlett! Daniel, if you don't open this door, I'm kicking it down!"
Sarah was frantic. She backed up two steps, ready to kick the door, when it suddenly opened.
Sarah almost couldn't stop herself. She steadied herself against the wall, but Daniel was already striding toward the door with Scarlett over his shoulder.
Sarah hurried after them, but then Ray Lowe, dressed in black, slipped through the door and blocked Sarah's path.
"Move! What is Daniel trying to do in the middle of the night?!" Sarah raised her fist, ready to fight.
Ray's features were hard and cold, with a scar on his forehead. He looked at Sarah with emotionless eyes, like a killing machine without feelings.
Ray spoke. "You can't beat me."
The contempt in his eyes was crystal clear.
Sarah was furious, but she really couldn't beat Ray.
Ray was Daniel's top bodyguard, with a mysterious background and ruthless methods.
Sarah had faced off with him once. Her practiced fighting skills were useless—Ray had taken her down in just a couple of moves.
But she was worried about Scarlett, so she charged forward with her fist raised. "I won't know if I can beat you unless I try!"
Ray dodged her punch and in the blink of an eye had her arm twisted behind her back, pressing her face-first into the sofa.
"Miss Johnson, Mr. Wilson means Mrs. Wilson no harm. He just heard about some things and wants to have a good talk with Mrs. Wilson."
"That's his idea of a good talk? Anyone who didn't know better would think that damn Daniel was breaking down doors to settle a score!" Sarah cried out, feeling like her arm was about to dislocate.
"Miss Johnson, if it weren't for Mrs. Wilson's sake, that mouth of yours would've gotten you kicked out of Shadow City several times over."
Downstairs, Scarlett had already been loaded into the back seat.
As the car pulled away, Scarlett poked her head out of the blanket, her face flushed red from being smothered.
Her eyes were also red as she glared at Daniel beside her.
"Let me out of the car! Sarah will worry! And don't let your people hurt her. If Sarah gets hurt, I'll never forgive you!"
Even though her vision had been blocked, she'd sensed that Daniel had left someone behind.
"Whether she gets hurt or not depends on your attitude," Daniel said coldly, not even looking up at Scarlett.
Daniel was looking down at something on his phone.
It was Jake's background check, just sent over.
Scarlett looked back at the car behind them. Sarah still hadn't come out, clearly being held back.
Sarah had a hot temper. If she really got into a fight with Daniel's people, who knew if she'd get hurt.
Scarlett took a breath, deflating like a balloon. "Fine, I'll be good and go back with you."
Only then did Daniel look up at her, his deep eyes fixed on her reddened eyes.
He felt irritated, his voice laced with mockery. "You're really difficult to deal with."
He still made a call, instructing: "Be polite to Miss Johnson."
After he hung up, Scarlett wrapped herself in the blanket and huddled by the car door, saying nothing more.
After a long while, Daniel broke the silence first.
"Don't you have anything to say to me?"
Scarlett felt uneasy. Under the blanket, she clenched her hands.
He was so angry and still asking like this—had he found out about her pregnancy?
Her hand instinctively moved to her belly as she turned to look at him, her face full of confusion.
"Say what? That I saw your passionate confession to Alice? That I know my place and want to wish you two well?"
Scarlett tried to change the subject, and she clearly succeeded.
Daniel frowned slightly. "What passionate confession?"
Scarlett thought he was being fake. A cold, mocking smile curved her lips. "Just now at the amusement park. I'm not blind!"
Thinking of that scene, Scarlett still couldn't stay calm. She turned her head away again to look out the window.
She thought it wasn't because she still loved Daniel deeply—any wife who saw her husband publicly confess to his mistress wouldn't be able to stay calm.
With a startled cry, Scarlett was pulled by Daniel and fell into his arms.
Daniel looked down at her, his brow slightly furrowed.
"Make yourself clear! How do I not know that I just made a passionate confession to Alice at the amusement park?"
Seeing that he refused to admit it, Scarlett laughed coldly.
"'Love Alice'—don't tell me you don't know what that means! That grand drone confession—there's probably already video of it spreading online."
But Daniel's frown only deepened. His thin lips pressed together.
"Scarlett, are you illiterate? The most important part—the subject—is missing, and you're already rushing to blame me?"
Scarlett laughed coldly. "If it wasn't you, who else could it be? Unless Alice arranged it for herself..."
She spoke mockingly, but halfway through, her voice weakened.
Arranging that kind of show for herself—other people wouldn't be that good at stirring up trouble, but Alice definitely might.
Without a subject, even if Daniel questioned it, Alice could say she wanted to give herself a gift, to encourage herself or something.
Could it really not have been Daniel?
"I call you dumb and you feel wronged, but 'stupid' really does match your extremely low IQ." Daniel mocked.
Scarlett protested. "What do you mean 'extremely low IQ'?"
Daniel laughed coldly. "All you do is wrongly accuse me and make trouble for no reason."
Scarlett fell silent.
She bit her lip. "You haven't cleared yourself of suspicion yet! You were also at the amusement park, and you left me to go protect her. That huge drone show was so bright it was blinding! How could you not have seen it?"
Because Daniel had been at the scene at the time, under those circumstances, no one would believe him.
Seeing her refusing to admit fault or reflect, Daniel laughed coldly.
"Stop the car!"
The car stopped almost immediately, and the driver got out.
Scarlett wrapped the blanket tighter around herself and quickly sat up from Daniel's arms, watching him warily.
"What are you trying to do?"
Seeing her looking like she wanted to escape dozens of feet away from him, Daniel couldn't suppress his anger.
His face was dark as water. "I'm giving you a chance to come clean and apologize. Three minutes. Think carefully about what you should tell me. If you keep being unreasonable, get out!"
Such a big thing had happened, and Scarlett had hidden it from him.
Afterward, she'd even moved into Ramon's house. Did she think Daniel was dead?
Every day, besides opposing him, what else could she do?
Scarlett was pinned by Daniel's arrow-like gaze, her heart feeling like it was being squeezed repeatedly.
Even if the drone show was a misunderstanding, wasn't it Daniel who treasured and cared about Alice so much?
What right did he have to drag her out in the middle of the night and mock her over and over?
Her face was cold. "I have nothing to say."
Daniel's pupils contracted sharply, his voice cold and harsh.
"Get out!"
