Chapter 116 Unfortunately, You Are Not Worthy
"Follow her."
In the car, when Daniel opened his eyes a moment later, his expression revealed nothing.
He gave the order, and the driver quickly started the car, keeping a distant tail behind Scarlett.
They hadn't followed far when Scarlett successfully hailed a taxi.
"Mr. Wilson, should we keep following?" the driver asked cautiously.
In broad daylight, she wouldn't be in any danger.
Daniel had the driver follow only because he worried that Scarlett was hiding her emotions and might suddenly break down.
But clearly, she didn't.
Daniel's gaze swept over the taxi's license plate as he instructed, "No need. Let's go to the western suburbs."
When Daniel arrived at the western suburbs, Tom had already thrown Natalia and the other two into an abandoned warehouse and worked them over for quite a while.
The three of them had long lost their arrogant, scheming demeanor from the hospital.
Natalia and the others were tied to stools, drenched in gasoline, their faces full of terror, trembling nonstop, looking utterly pathetic.
Daniel's head bodyguard Ray sat with his legs crossed on a chair not far from the three, playing with a box of matches.
Suddenly, Ray struck one and flicked it with his fingertip, sending the burning match flying toward them.
The next second, they would be set ablaze by the match, except it always fell just short.
Several matchsticks had already fallen around each of them, and their hearts had long exceeded their limits.
"Please, we mean what we say, we really won't dare again, let us go."
Susan's pleading voice was hoarse.
She truly regretted it now. If she had known that threatening Scarlett would fail and result in this kind of retaliation from Daniel's people, she definitely wouldn't have dared cause trouble at the hospital.
"Yes, yes, we really won't dare again! Natalia! Natalia, say something!"
Marc was also shouting. A matchstick had just flown past his hair.
He had lost control, and a puddle of unknown origin had formed beneath him.
Natalia couldn't stand the smell of gasoline, and there was a pile of vomit beside her.
Her complexion was the worst at the moment, weak and listless, her face covered in tears.
Perhaps she felt that Tom, standing aside wearing glasses and looking refined, who hadn't lifted a finger, was easier to reason with than Ray, who looked fierce and murderous with countless lives on his hands.
Natalia moved toward Tom with her hands and feet, chair and all, crying and begging.
"Mr. Green, I'm Scarlett's mother after all. Let me go, and from now on, whatever Mr. Wilson says goes! I really can't take it anymore, I'm dying."
She turned her head and started vomiting again.
Tom took a step back, his face full of sympathy, and said.
"Ms. Ruth, you really mustn't jump around. If you touch a spark and your body suddenly bursts into flames, you can't blame us."
Natalia froze in fear, nearly collapsing.
The warehouse door was pushed open at that moment.
Bright sunlight flooded in, and Daniel's tall figure approached. The three looked over urgently.
They felt both hopeful and afraid.
When they saw it was actually Daniel, all three showed hope, came alive, and began crying and pleading loudly.
"Mr. Wilson, I'm Scarlett's biological mother. Even if I was wrong, given that I gave birth to and raised Scarlett, surely the crime doesn't deserve death."
"Mr. Wilson, it's all a misunderstanding. We're family, and what deep hatred exists between family members? Please let us go."
But they overlooked one thing—both Ray and Tom were Daniel's subordinates.
The one who had cheerfully lured them from the hospital and reduced them to this state was, ultimately, Daniel himself.
Daniel's handsome face was calm as he walked up to the three, his eyes not even landing on them.
He was cold all over, but the bright bloody bite mark on his chin broke through his cold demeanor.
Ray and Tom could hardly believe their eyes. They widened their eyes, then both suppressed their laughter.
They used all their restraint to turn their heads and look away nonchalantly.
While they were still internally mocking the fact that Scarlett had bitten Daniel's face.
The three of them obviously couldn't care about the small injury on Daniel's face. They continued begging fearfully, as if facing an abyss.
"Fire."
Daniel said in a low voice. Only then did Ray belatedly hand over the matchbox.
Daniel lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and exhaled light smoke.
The three inexplicably quieted down, only watching Daniel nervously, fearfully, yet expectantly.
At this moment, he was the devil Satan who controlled their fate.
He took another drag and tossed the matchbox into the distance.
Tears of joy immediately fell from the three of them, all feeling they had escaped death.
Daniel looked up. "You really know you were wrong and won't dare again?"
Natalia immediately nodded. "Won't dare, won't dare again. I'll make sure Scarlett studies abroad properly. As her mother, I hope she'll be successful too."
Daniel nodded. Just as stiff smiles appeared on their faces, Daniel chuckled lightly and said.
"But this promise sounds so familiar. If I remember correctly, you said the same thing two years ago. Forgot?"
Natalia froze, her face trembling with terror.
Of course she hadn't forgotten. At that time, Scarlett had gotten her marriage certificate with Daniel and officially became the wife of the Wilson family heir.
Natalia felt she had become a relative of the Wilson family and should claim wedding gifts from them. She brought Marc to find the Wilson family.
Blair, wanting to keep the peace, gave Natalia an apartment to send her away. But having tasted sweetness, how could Natalia let it go?
Natalia went to The Wilson Mansion again and again, until Daniel returned from a business trip and personally invited her over to warn her.
At that time, Natalia also promised not to pester and bother Scarlett again. She behaved for quite a while, but later Natalia discovered that Daniel wasn't often in the country, and his relationship with Scarlett wasn't very good either.
Over time, Natalia started extorting again.
"I, I... I really won't dare this time, Mr. Wilson, please give me one more chance."
Daniel's slender fingers flicked the ash, saying lightly, "There's only one person worth giving more chances to, and unfortunately, you're not worthy."
With that, he flicked the red ember.
Suddenly, screams and flames erupted.

Meanwhile, after leaving Daniel, Scarlett rushed back to the hospital.
She hadn't properly handled the hospital situation yet, and Sarah should still be there.
But before Scarlett reached the hospital, she received another call from the police station, asking her to come by, saying Sarah was there too.
Scarlett thought something had happened to Sarah again and rushed to the station.
When she reached the investigation room, she saw Sarah standing there perfectly fine, actually competing with two young male officers, with several police officers gathered around watching—the scene was quite lively.
"Scarlett, you're here." Seeing Scarlett, Sarah waved at her with a smile.
All the officers present looked over. Scarlett smiled awkwardly, stepped forward to pull Sarah aside, and asked urgently.
"What's going on here?"
Sarah winked at Scarlett with a proud little expression and said.
"It's still about the trouble at the hospital. I called the police. Natalia and the others were instigated by someone. The mastermind behind this needs to be investigated by the officers to get justice for us. They called you here to understand the situation and make a statement."
Scarlett of course knew this matter wasn't simple, but she hadn't expected Sarah to call the police after she left.
The officer in charge of the case motioned for Scarlett to come over. Sarah pulled Scarlett close and whispered quickly in her ear.
"That bitch Alice and her agent have both been arrested, caught red-handed. Just cooperate with the questioning."
Scarlett was very confused.
Alice and Laura were arrested?
What was going on? Scarlett didn't think the police worked this fast.
