Chapter 217 Injured
Chapter 217 Injured
The plane landed in River City in the afternoon.
The group headed straight to Parker Media Group.
In the general manager's office, Miles was pacing anxiously.
When he saw Diana push the door open, he rushed forward immediately, his forehead covered in beads of sweat.
"Ms. Parker, you're finally back! The company seal is missing. If someone uses it to sign a transfer agreement or loan shark contract, the company is finished!" Miles was frantic, his face full of fear.
Diana walked to her desk and pulled out the chair to sit down.
There wasn't a trace of panic on her face.
"Don't panic." Diana poured herself a glass of water. "Keep this under wraps. Tell everyone internally that the seal was taken to the bank for business. No matter who asks, everyone sticks to the same story. Absolutely no spreading this around."
Miles froze, speaking urgently: "But..."
"No buts. Leave the rest to me."
With that, Diana picked up the car keys from the desk, turned and headed out.
Just as she left the company entrance, Ethan caught up in a few strides and grabbed her wrist.
"Where are you going?"
Diana forcefully shook off his hand.
"Grace's place. Blair did this, she's definitely going to run. Grace absolutely knows where she is."
"I'm coming with you." Ethan's tone was firm as he directly opened the passenger door and got in.
Augustus walked over from behind, holding Olivia's hand.
Hearing Ethan's words, Augustus's hand hanging at his side clenched tightly, his fingertips turning white.
Ethan rolled down the window and turned to speak to Olivia.
"Liv, how about daddy has someone take you to great-grandpa's house for a bit? Great-grandpa will be so happy to see you, and there are lots of toys there."
Olivia hid behind Augustus's legs, shaking her head repeatedly, her face full of resistance.
"No! I don't want to go to a stranger's house. I'm staying with Uncle Augustus."
Augustus smoothly picked up Olivia, raising his chin provocatively.
"I'll take Liv back to the hotel."
Ethan's brows furrowed tightly.
Handing his daughter over to his rival - he was a hundred percent unwilling.
But right now they were going to confront Blair, and if things got ugly, they really couldn't have the child there.
"Watch her carefully. If she loses a single hair, I'm coming after you." Ethan threw out these words and rolled up the window.
Half an hour later, the car stopped below an apartment building.
This was one of Grace's properties. Over the years, she'd sold off most of the properties under her name.
Diana went up to the third floor and stood in front of the security door.
From inside came the faint sounds of rummaging through boxes and cabinets, accompanied by hurried footsteps.
Diana was about to knock when Ethan stepped forward and raised his long leg, kicking hard at the door lock.
Bang.
The security door shook violently, gave way, and slammed heavily against the wall.
Two piercing screams came from inside.
The living room was in complete chaos.
Grace and Blair were frantically stuffing clothes and bundles of cash into two large suitcases.
Right in the center of the coffee table sat that red seal box.
Seeing who was standing at the door, Blair dropped the clothes in her hands.
"You... weren't you in Rosewood City? How did you get back so fast!" Blair's voice trembled as she instinctively backed away, knocking over the chair behind her.
Grace was even more frightened, her face turning pale, stammering: "Diana..."
Diana didn't even give Grace a proper look.
She walked straight to the coffee table, picked up the red box, opened it to check, gave a cold laugh, and stuffed the box into her coat pocket.
"Stealing my dad's life's work to run away?" Diana closed in on Blair, her tone growing colder. "You think you're worthy?"
Blair had nowhere left to retreat, her back hitting the wall.
She suddenly raised her voice, shrill and piercing, screaming like a madwoman.
"Why!" Blair pointed at Diana's nose. "Why didn't that car accident kill you! You bitch, how is your luck so good!"
Ethan's expression darkened instantly. He strode over, grabbed Blair by the collar, and lifted her entire body up.
"Try cursing one more time." Ethan's voice was cold and hard, veins bulging on the back of his hand.
Blair was forced to tilt her head back, tears streaming down her face. She instantly put on an extremely wronged expression, trying to grab Ethan's arm.
"Ethan, how can you treat me like this? Have you forgotten how I saved you back then? I was pregnant with your child! For this bitch, you don't even care about our child anymore?"
Ethan disgustedly shook off his hand, letting Blair fall to the ground.
He took out a wet wipe and methodically wiped his fingers.
"At this point, you still want to trick me with this disgusting talk?" Ethan threw the wipe in Blair's face. "I never touched you. That bastard in your belly - whose is it really?"
The color drained completely from Blair's face, pale as paper.
Her lips trembled violently, unable to get out a single word for a long time.
How could he know?
That night was arranged so perfectly!
Grace stood to the side, scared and wiping away tears, not daring to breathe heavily.
Just then, a piercing siren sound came from downstairs, growing closer.
The police car stopped below.
Blair suddenly looked up, her voice distorted, filled with deep despair.
"You called the police?"
Ethan stood in place, not giving her any extra reaction.
Blair completely broke down.
She knew she was finished.
Stealing the company seal, and Ethan had called the police - she'd spend the rest of her life in prison.
And all of this was because of Diana!
If Diana had died in that car accident, she would already be the glamorous Mrs. Grant by now!
Blair suddenly sprang up from the ground, grabbed a fruit knife from the fruit bowl on the coffee table, and lunged at Diana like a madwoman.
"Diana, go to hell!"
The two were too close. Diana had no time to dodge and could only instinctively raise her arm to block.
The next second, a tall figure suddenly blocked in front of her.
Ethan yanked Diana into his arms, turned around, and used his back to shield her.
"Thud."
The sound of the blade piercing through fabric and into flesh was especially clear in the quiet living room.
Ethan let out a muffled grunt, his body suddenly tensing, his brows knitting tightly together.
Diana was pressed in his arms, her nose instantly filled with a strong smell of blood.
Ethan's tall body suddenly stiffened, his full weight instantly pressing down.
Diana was held tightly in his arms, her mind buzzing, her brain completely blank.
She stiffly reached out her hand, touching Ethan's back.
Her hand met warm, sticky liquid.
Diana opened her palm to see it covered in fresh blood.
"Ethan..." Her voice shook uncontrollably, her whole body trembling violently.
Ethan's brows were tightly knitted, fine beads of cold sweat appearing on his forehead, his originally sharp jawline tensed.
He forced himself to hold up his body, not letting himself collapse completely and crush her.
"Don't be afraid." He pulled at his bloodless lips, his voice extremely low, as if already weakened to the extreme. "I'm fine..."
