Chapter 216 The Official Seal Was Stolen
Chapter 216 The Official Seal Was Stolen
4 PM.
Ethan closed his laptop, took a phone call, grabbed his coat and left.
Augustus leaned back on the sofa and let out a long breath.
That pest was finally gone.
He stood up and walked over to Diana's easel.
"Diana, what do you want for dinner? There's a new Japanese place across the street. I heard their sea urchin is really good. Want me to make a reservation?"
Diana didn't even look up, continuing to work on her canvas.
"No need. I have to finish this sketch today."
Augustus didn't mind. He pulled over a chair and sat down.
"Then I'll keep you company. We can grab a late-night snack after you're done."
Just as he finished speaking, the glass door of the studio was pushed open.
Augustus turned his head, and the smile on his face instantly froze.
Ethan walked in with one hand in his pocket, the other holding a small figure.
Olivia, wearing her little backpack, walked in.
"Mommy!"
The little girl broke free from Ethan's hand and rushed toward Diana, throwing herself into her arms.
Diana put down her brush, wiped her hands with a tissue, then bent down and pinched her daughter's cheeks.
"Why are you back so early today?"
Ethan strolled over leisurely, stopping on the other side of the easel, his lips curving into a very obvious smile.
"Kindergarten let out early today. I picked her up."
He deliberately emphasized the words "I picked her up," his gaze casually sweeping over Augustus.
Augustus clenched his jaw tightly.
No wonder this jerk suddenly disappeared this afternoon—he ran off to the kindergarten to show off!
"Liv." Augustus crouched down, looking at Olivia with a smile. "Did anyone bully you at kindergarten today?"
Olivia shook her head, her expression very well-behaved.
"No. The teacher even said I was smart today."
Ethan immediately chimed in, his tone full of pride.
"Of course. Look whose daughter she is. My kid—how could she not be smart?"
Diana was getting a headache.
Whenever these two were together, the tension in the air was unbearable.
Just as she was about to kick them out, her phone on the table suddenly vibrated.
The screen showed "Miles."
This was the professional manager Sebastian had found for her in River City, specifically to manage Parker Media Group—the company her father had left behind.
Diana pressed the answer button and held the phone to her ear.
"Miles, what's wrong?"
The background noise on the other end was very chaotic, and Miles's voice sounded urgent.
"Miss Parker, we have a problem! The company seal of Parker Media Group has been stolen!"
Diana shot to her feet, knocking over the chair behind her.
"What did you say?" She raised her voice. "Isn't the seal usually locked in the safe? Who stole it?"
"Someone cracked the safe's password." Miles was searching for something on his end. "I've already pulled the surveillance footage. I'll send it to your phone right away."
The call ended.
A few seconds later, a video file popped up in the chat.
Diana clicked on the video.
The footage was from the surveillance camera in the general manager's office at Parker Media Group.
At 2 AM, a woman wearing a baseball cap and mask slipped into the office, skillfully entered the password to open the safe, and took out a red seal box.
As the woman turned to leave, her cap accidentally brushed against the door frame and fell to the ground. She instinctively bent down to pick it up.
The surveillance camera clearly captured her face.
Blair.
Diana's fingers clenched tightly.
Parker Media Group was her father's life's work. If the seal fell into Blair's hands, the consequences would be disastrous.
She could use the seal to sign any transfer agreement or debt contract.
Ethan sensed something was wrong and strode over.
"What happened?"
Diana shoved her phone screen in front of him, her voice ice-cold.
"Look at what your dear Blair has done!"
Ethan's eyes fell on the screen, and the moment he saw that face, his expression changed dramatically.
Blair had stolen Parker Media Group's seal.
Just yesterday, he had solemnly promised Olivia that he would personally make Blair apologize.
Today, Blair directly stole Diana's property.
This was like a hard slap across his face.
"I'm going back to River City right now." Diana grabbed her coat from the chair and turned to leave.
Ethan grabbed her arm.
"I'll go back with you." His tone was urgent. "Let me handle this. I promise I'll get the seal back intact."
Diana shook him off forcefully. "Ethan, this is Parker family business. I don't need you interfering. Your dear sister—I'll deal with her myself."
Augustus seized the opportunity to step in.
"Diana, let me go back with you. I know River City like the back of my hand, and feel free to use my family's connections however you need."
Ethan turned to glare at him.
"Augustus, stop making things worse!"
"Who's making things worse?" Augustus didn't back down. "A stolen seal is serious business. Every minute we delay adds more risk. I'll have someone arrange a private jet right now. We can take off in two hours at the earliest."
Ethan scoffed and pulled out his phone.
"Arrange a jet? By the time you do that, it'll be too late. My private jet is parked at Rosewood City International Airport. We can leave right now."
He turned to look at Diana.
"Diana, my flight route is the fastest. Your father's company can't wait."
That statement hit Diana's weak spot.
It really couldn't wait.
Olivia stood nearby, her dark eyes moving between the three adults, then suddenly raised her little hand.
"Mommy! I want to go too!"
Diana stopped in her tracks, her brow furrowing.
"Liv, don't make a fuss. Mommy has serious business to handle. It's dangerous."
"I'm not scared!" The little girl ran to Diana's side and hugged her leg. "I want to protect Mommy!"
"What would you do there?" Augustus crouched down to coax her. "River City isn't fun. Isn't it better to stay in Rosewood City?"
Olivia pouted.
"I want to go. You're all going anyway, so what's one more person?" She turned to look at Ethan. "Hey, does your plane have room for me?"
Ethan immediately nodded.
"It has room. Even ten more of you would fit."
Diana looked at these two adults and one child, feeling nothing but a headache.
Time was tight. She didn't have time to waste arguing here.
"Fine." Diana gritted her teeth. "Then let's all go."
She took out her phone and called the manor, briefly explained the situation to Grandma, then grabbed the car keys from the table and headed out.
"Ethan, have your crew prepare for takeoff. Meet at the airport in half an hour."
Forty minutes later.
Rosewood City International Airport tarmac.
A plane sat quietly on the runway.
The boarding stairs were lowered. Diana, holding Olivia's hand, walked in front.
Augustus followed closely behind, carrying Diana's bag.
Ethan walked at the back, his face so dark it could drip water.
He had just asked Derek to track down Blair's whereabouts. That woman actually dared to take Diana's seal—this time, he absolutely wouldn't let her get away!
