Chapter 95 95
The heavy downpour forced Brooke to wake up. She got up and went to check on Liam, who sometimes wakes up because of a heavy rain.
She quietly entered the room and Liam had his back to her, as he was laying sideways. Because of how he wasn't moving, she knew he was sleeping. She then sighted her phone on the side table. It was kept sideways with the support of the side lamp there.
She pulled up his blanket and kissed him on the forehead before reaching for her phone. That was when she realized that the camera was still on. She gasped at the sight she saw.
It is the sleeping face of Nathan. That made her understand that the father watched his son fall asleep and probably did the same afterwards.
Guilt washed over immediately. She felt she had deprived her son of his father's love and care for the eight years of his life. It was clear that her son was longing for his father's affection. She recalled Liam's request from earlier.
'Why can't we go and be with him in Silverbrook?'
She shook her head and looked at Nathan's sleeping face again. From the back, she understood he was in their bedroom at the villa. She was able to see their wedding photo still hanging in the room.
It would have been surprising to her. But now that she knew some of the things that happened while she was gone, she was no longer too surprised to see that.
For a few minutes, she kept studying the video. Both Nathan's face and the background of her old marital home. A warning of her battery was about to die from her phone made her realize she has been staring for some time.
She was about to end the call when her eyes were met with a turquoise one. She gasped in shock as she didn't expect Nathan to wake up.
"Bee, I really miss you and our son" I want to have you both by my side. The distance is killing me. I really hope you will consider moving back to Silverbrook real soon. Because I don't know how long I will be able to endure this." Nathan said in a husky and sleepy voice.
"Please dad, calm down. I promise you, I am not doing this for me. I am doing it for Liam. Brooke it is, I already feel guilty enough for keeping Liam away from his father for many years." Brooke tried to reason with her father.
Brooke has kept from her parents that Nathan had found her. She was waiting for them to come back from their trip before she had a talk with them.
Unfortunately for her, Lima was too excited to keep it to himself. And immediately they walked into the Turners residence, he spilled.
Moments later after their return, her parents asked to have a talk with her in their home study.
"Sweetheart, I thought you said he didn't want to have a child with you. Why are you entertaining him now?" Samantha asked in a worried tone.
"With everything he has done to you in the past?" Jack reminded her
"I know all that. But I am not doing this for me. I promise." Brooke said. "Besides, Nathan seems to have.... Changed in a lot of ways. He said he regretted the divorce and from what I have seen, he accepts Liam. All he shows towards him is love and care." She tried to defend.
"Really! Regret the divorce?" Samantha chuckled in disbelief.
"Seriously, after everything he made you go through. My beautiful daughter brought herself down so that he would see and accept her. But he didn't see all that until after the divorce?" Jack added. He doesn't want to be pleased at all from hearing about Nathan. Neither did Samantha.
"Bee, my dear. I don't want to see you in the same situation you were back then. You are my happiness and only when you are happy will we be happy too." Jack spoke and Samantha nodded in agreement.
"Love yourself first, don't let Nathan decide for you again." Samantha added her own two scents.
Brooke sighed. "Mum, dad. I know. I am not doing this for me but for Nathan. I am not a child anymore and I know what I am doing. Remember I am a doctor now. One of the best in my field." She reminded them. "Besides I didn't say I was going back to Nathan. It's all about Liam getting to know his father as it is supposed to be."
"Maybe for now that is how you feel. But what about as time goes on? What if what you have buried for all these years surfaces? Then what?" Jack sought.
"Dad, it is not what you are thinking now. But even if it ever comes to that, I think I can make a decision now for myself." Brooke replied.
"So..... You mean -" Samantha began but Brooke was quick to interrupt her.
"I don't mean anything like being with him. I just want his son to get to know him. It is obvious that Liam loves his father and Nathan has shown nothing but the same affection." She explained.
Turning to her father, Brooke added. "How would you feel if you were ever denied my love? Or if I was denied to get to know one of you as my parents?"
Brooke's last statement got to her parents as they fell silent.
"She is right honey. It was wrong of us to keep Liam from the Leos. We might not know how Nathan would react to the news then. But we cannot deny knowing that Marise and Robert would have accepted Liam with open arms." Samantha spoke in a soft voice.
The three continued with their conversation for almost another hour. Brooke convinced them that she only had one thing in mind and that was it.
"I heard what you have to say but I want to see it for myself." Jack spoke. "I want to know how ready and serious he is to be a father to Liam." He narrowed his eyes on Brooke.
"I want to test him in my own way."
