Chapter 69 69
Nathan might have tried convincing himself earlier that he is doing it for Brooke's sake. He wanted to make sure whoever this Liam guy is, will be good enough for her and that he will take care of her. Now it all sounds crazy to him. But still, his curiosity got the best of him.
"follow that taxi. Be discreet about it." Nathan pointed at the taxi Brooke got in.
"Yes, Mr Leo." His hotel driver answered and began to follow the taxi from a safe distance.
'What am I doing?' Nathan asked himself. His eyes glued on the taxi that is further away from them.
Nathan recalled when Brooke did the same to him back then. Although, not exactly the same. Then, they were married and she thought he was cheating on her.
Brooke for him now, Brooke was totally honest with him. But he wanted to see for himself. The things love makes you do. To some level, he now can relate with what Brooke did before.
Minutes into their rides, the taxi stopped at the front of a school. Nathan's driver also parked a few meters on the other side of the road. He has a clear view of what was happening at the other side.
After Brooke got out of the taxi, she walked to another car, where a man stepped out and took the parked lunch from her. Nathan easily detects the man to be a driver. The way he acted around Brooke showed that. Even though he couldn't hear their conversation from where he was.
Relief washed over Nathan. He is sure the man is not Liam. Next, he saw Brooke walk into the school building. After a few minutes, she walked out with someone. A young boy by her side with her hand wrapped around him.
His heart beat faster. 'Who is this boy and why is he with Brooke?' Nathan thought.
Before he could analyze anything further, a car pulled over, blocking his view from the boy. A man stepped out of the car and quickly rushed to them. He gave Brooke a hug.
Now Nathan was foaming in anger. He knew exactly who the man hugging Brooke was. It's his supposed best friend, Ryan Ronald. He could see the familiarity in the way they spoke.
At that moment, things began to add up to Nathan. He now understood the reason why Ryan couldn't find Brooke. With all the connections he had, he claimed never to come across Doctor Turner.
That was all because he knew exactly where she was all this while. Nathan felt betrayed. His heart felt like it was about to burst out of his chest. How could Ryan do this to him?
Nathan didn't take another second longer in the vehicle. He screamed his friend's name "Ryan!" and stormed out of the car, heading towards them.
They were arguing about something but Nathan was in rage and couldn't understand what it was. He looked eyes with Ryan and Brooke noticed the daggers Nathan was throwing at his friends.
She raised her hand, trying to step forward to stand between the two men.
"We should tell him, Bee." Ryan said, looking at Brooke in the eyes, in a way telling her to go with his suggestion.
"No. Not what you were suggesting." Brooke tried to reason with Ryan.
Ryan then turned to Nathan and began. "I am sorry, Nathan. But Brooke and I are together. We have been for a while now and we have a son, Liam. I am sorry you had to find out this way -"
Ryan was forced to shut his mouth when Nathan gave him a punch. Before Ryan would regain his stance, Nathan gave him another one. And another.
"How could you? How could you, Ryan? You knew I was looking for her. I became miserable because of her. You knew where she was and you lied to me." Nathan spoke in anger between punches.
"I thought you were my friend. How could you do this to me? How dare you touch her? She is mine! She is mine!"
"Nathan, please stop. Stop it." Brooke finally spoke. She tried to get between the two but it was clear that Nathan couldn't even hear her.
"You knew I was miserable. You knew I regretted what I did. Yet, you touched her. You touched Brooke." Nathan continued. He is obviously angry.
Ryan fell to the floor. He could defend himself to some level, but he didn't. He knew this was something he brought upon himself. He knew someday he had to pay for what he did. But he did not expect it to be this soon.
Nathan immediately pulled him up by the collar. He was about to give him another blow when Brooke spoke with a firm voice, making Nathan pause.
"Nathan, STOP IT ALREADY. Stop it please, I beg of you." Brooke pleaded.
Hearing Brooke mention his name for the first time since their reunion made Nathan put his fist down. But still held Ryan by the neck. He turned his attention to Brooke. His eyes were as dark as ever.
"Calm down, Nathan." Brooke said, raising her hand up. "Just please, listen to me." She added and pointed at Ryan. "I don't know what got into Ryan and why he said what he said but that is not true. He just made that up."
Brooke then pointed at Liam, who stood watching the scene in horror. "Look at my son. Just look at him. He is the Liam you heard me talking with at the hospital." Brooke said.
She noticed how Nathan was still not completely comprehending what she was saying. Because he began to fist his hand into a ball again and pulled Ryan tighter by the collar. His eyes were still a shade darker than normal. It is something she has never seen.
But what Brooke said next made Nathan grow weak in the knees. He rapidly released Ryan and turned in Brooke's direction.
"Just let Ryan go. Liam is not his son, Nathan. Liam is yours. HE IS YOUR SON."
