Chapter 68 68
Brooke was speechless for a moment. After a few seconds, she managed to speak . “Excuse me.” she stood up from her seat.
"Bee, are you-" Nathan asked and also got up from his seat.
"Doctor Bee." She reminded him. "Mr Leo, how many times do I have to remind you, we no longer have any form of relationship. Call me Doctor Bee." She said before leaving.
She went to the restaurant's rest room. The information was just too much for her to take in.
'Georgina Parks. How could she forget the same girl that almost got her killed. She purposely pushed her into the road when the school bus was coming her way. Her young self memory came rushing to her.
Now, only to find out the same girl did not stop at high school attacks only. She followed her after that and made her a paranoid wife, just to get Nathan's attention.
She stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom and kept taking deep breaths. She could see herself shaking.
"Love." Brooke said. "Nathan just confessed that he loves me. So it took him to file for divorce to realize he loves me." That was the part that shocked her the most. It is the same confession that is making her shake like a leaf. He then still wears their wedding ring, after all the years that have passed. She never thought of that possibility when she first saw the ring on his finger.
'I realized I loved you, I still love you, Bee.' Nathan's words played in her head again.
The same love that made her and her parents leave their lives behind and start a new one. Especially her parents, who sacrificed it all for her. It is the same love that is now confessed to her by her ex-husband.
"Control yourself, Brooke." Brooke scolded herself, pointing at her reflection on the mirror. She is not willing to put herself in the love situation again. All it did was stop her from moving forward. Now that she has put love aside, she has achieved a lot and she really wants to keep it that way. She meditated in the bathroom to calm her emotions and remind herself all the reasons she is where she is now.
Brooke took twenty minutes in the restroom before finally stepping out. She didn't care how long Nathan had to wait. She needs to clear her head and control her emotions. They are far more important at that moment.
She fixed herself and was about to leave when her phone began to ring in her purse. She reached the door of the phone and saw it was the school calling.
With a frown and the hope that everything was fine with Liam, she answered the call.
"Doctor Bee, it is Liam. He has a fever and I think it will be best if he goes home and rests." Liam's teacher reported.
"Oh no!" Brooke exclaimed as she began to worry. "I will be there. Thank you for calling." She added before ending the call and rushing out of the restroom.
She dialed a number on her phone as she walked in a hurry. After two rings, the person on the other line answered the call.
"Doctor Bee, is everything alright? How is the patient doing?" Doctor Patel asked.
"He is fine. Doctor Patel, may I take the rest of the day off? I just received a call from Liam's school. He is ill and I have to go get him." Brooke explained, slowing her pace.
"You can have the rest of the day off. After all, you can go in very early today. My regards to Liam. I hope he feels better soon." Doctor Patel said. "Oh and Doctor Bee, just please make sure your work line is open, in case of an emergency." He advised.
"Thank you, Doctor Patel. I will do that." Brooke answered before ending the call. She finally walked into the restaurant and she sighted Nathan still sitting. Their food has arrived though.
She called her driver and asked him to meet her at the school because she can't just sit and wait for him to arrive.
Brooke walked up to Nathan. Before she could speak, her phone began to ring again. She checked the caller ID and her eyes grew wide. She could not answer the call at that moment.
"Doctor Bee, is something wrong?" Nathan asked with concern as he got up from his seat as well.
"Yeah.... Yeah. I have to go now. There is an emergency." Brooke said.
She could clearly see the disappointment on Nathan's face. Of course he would be disappointed. This is not how he would want it to end.
"I understand, you have to report to duty calls." Nathan said. "Let me drop you off at the hospital. I just hope we can have this talk another time." He added.
"Oh you don't have to do that. Besides, it's not the hospital I am going to." Brooke said.
"What is the emergency then?" He asked with a frown.
"It's... It's Liam." Brooke simply said.
Now she saw a flBee of something in Nathan's eyes that was hard to define. "At least you should eat something before you leave." He tried to stall her, hearing who the emergency was about.
"I can't. I am sorry, Mr Leo. But I can't wait." Brooke said. "But I promise, we will have this talk another time." She promised because she knows that is the reason Nathan wanted her to stay.
Nathan then asked the waiter to package the food in takeaway for Brooke so that she can eat wherever she was going.
The waiter was quick to package the food for her. "Let me take you there." Nathan offered.
"Oh no, that won't be necessary." Brooke said and took the bag from him and headed out of the restaurant.
His phone rang for the third time. Since she is away from Nathan, she answered.
"Bee, where are you? My plane just landed. I want to come to you." Ryan said on the other end of the phone.
Brooke stopped a taxi as she spoke. "I am about to leave a restaurant. I was having lunch with Nathan-"
"What! Why did you do that? Does he know about Liam already?" Ryan asked impatiently.
"No, he doesn't know. We haven't gotten to that yet. Maybe another time. But now, I am about to go to Liam's school. I received a call from his teacher. He has a fever and I have to go pick him up." Brooke explained.
"Does he know about me? I mean does he know where you are all along?" Ryan asked.
"No he doesn't either. But we need to have a talk about that as well." Brooke said.
Ryan said he will meet her at Liam's school before they end the call.
Brooke finally got into a taxi and gave him the address she needed to go to.
Meanwhile, Nathan has called his hotel ride. When he saw Brooke's taxi drive off, he decided that he needed to see what Liam looked like. He wanted to know the level of competition he is going to have. That is if Brooke would ever consider him.
'No. I just need to see him and know if he deserves her.' Nathan said to himself. Trying to convince himself.
His car arrived immediately and Brooke's taxi left. Nathan quickly got in and instructed, "Follow that taxi, discreetly."
"Yes Mrs Leo." The driver answered and tailed behind.
