Chapter 27 27
The night was cool, but right then, it felt freezing cold for both Georgina and her father.
"Good evening, Mr. Parks. It's been a while." A cold voice spoke. It sounded very unfriendly and angry.
Georgina knew it was Nathan's voice. That made her even more scared. She tried harder to hide her face. Her knees started shaking as her heart beat faster.
Evan's heart beat faster in his chest. "What- what is happening here? W-what is the meaning of all this, Nathan?" He asked in a shaky voice. It was clear he was guilty. He knew it and they all knew it.
"Were you not satisfied that your family almost ruined mine over a silly teenage fight? What do you want from us?" Evan asked again.
"Silly teenage fight!?" Nathan asked in shock. "Your daughter, Georgina, pushed Brooke in front of a moving bus. What if something had happened? Yet, you are here calling it a silly teenage fight."
"I used to think there was something wrong with your daughter. And that you needed to take her to see a psychiatrist. But now, it seems you both need to see one," Nathan said.
Nathan's words hurt Evan, but right then, they were outnumbered. "Look, Nathan. We don't want any trouble. We just want to pass and leave the city. Besides, why are you holding grudges? This all happened a long time ago and Brooke did not get hurt. Just please let it go. Let us go as well. Georgie and I don't mean any-"
"Georgie! Right." Nathan cut him off. He then turned to Georgina, who was looking down trying to hide her face.
"Georgie.... Georgie...... Georgie." Nathan called out and walked closer to her. His hands were in his pockets. His voice was anything but gentle.
He stood tall over her before he continued. "Georgie, or should I say Keren Williams?" He raised his eyebrow.
Georgina quickly looked up at Nathan's words.
"Ha! I knew she looked familiar. Even with all the plastic surgery, her eyes are still the same," Matt spoke. He remembered that night at the club when he and Ryan talked to Georgina about how she looked so familiar. But she quickly denied it then.
"What? Who? I-I have never had the name Keren Williams," Georgina said quickly.
Nathan gave her an angry look, which made her stop talking right away.
Earlier that day, Matt went to Nathan with his suspicions about the Parks family. And how something was off about them. They were still together when Nathan's private investigator came back with the news. Keren Williams is actually Georgina Parks.
Nathan told the authorities. He gave them an update on Keren's double identity.
So when they were stopped at the first checkpoint, Nathan was already told that they had found her. But he asked security to let them go. He wanted them to think that they had escaped before they reached another checkpoint.
The whole city had checkpoints everywhere. So they would definitely get to another one soon. That is where Nathan planned to ruin their escape by showing up.
"Georgina Parks, you are under arrest for lying about being raped. In the process, you prevented justice from happening." one officer said as he walked up to her with handcuffs.
"You will also be charged with fraud for lying to Mr. Leo about your real identity," another officer added.
"What! No... No... This is a mistake." Georgina tried to deny everything as she was asked to turn around and place her hands behind her back.
"Save it, Keren- or should I say Georgina. I had you investigated. There is no need to waste your energy denying something we already have proof for," Nathan spoke. "We know you changed your name and face. For whatever reason you may have."
"You all got the wrong person. My daughter is innocent. She doesn't know any girl with that name," Evan tried to protect his daughter in the only way he could at that moment.
"Mr. Parks, you are also under arrest for working together with your daughter." the other police officer said as he also walked to Evan with handcuffs.
"What nonsense! My daughter did nothing and I didn't either. You got the wrong people," Evan said again.
The father and daughter kept denying and fighting, both with words and actions. The officers had to use force to get them into the car as they kept fighting.
Finally, Evan and Georgina Parks were forced into the police car. They were taken back to the police station for questioning.
In the questioning room, pictures were spread out on the table. They were pictures of Nathan when he was younger.
Some of them were pictures of him in his final year of high school.
Some were from when he left for college.
Some pictures were from while he was in college. His early years in college, all the way to his final year in college.
Some pictures were taken at places he regularly visited for his meals and also for coffee. Even his favorite spot for studying. That was the library.
"Miss Parks, I am sure you know all these. We were able to get our hands on them with help from your landlady back in Carefree town. She was willing to help for the right amount of money." the officer questioning Georgina said, after spreading out the photos.
"You went all the way to hire a private investigator to follow Nathan around, isn't that right?"
"After that, you bribed a judge in Carefree town to change your name."
"After all that, you got a series of surgeries done. Just so you could change your face to look like Brooke Turner, isn't that right?" the officer continued to question.
A smile formed on his lips when Georgina began to agree with everything he was saying because it was true.
"I don't need to ask why you did all that. It is clear why."
Georgina looked at him with a questioning look. As if silently asking him to explain more.
"You are obviously jealous of Miss Brooke Turner," the officer said.
