Chapter 20 20
"I swear, the lady asked for it rough. We didn't rape her or assaulted her in anyway she claimed, except for what she asked for. She even paid us for that. We thought it was strange at first. But when she offered a huge sum of money, we agreed to do it." One of the teenage boys, who was arrested spoke.
"She directed us on where to hit. She told us to avoid hitting her stomach because it hurts like shit. Her nose as well because she paid for an expensive nose job recently." He added.
Nathan stood in the other room of a one way glass to the interrogation room, listening to the confessions. They have been at it for almost two hours. But then, the story amongst the teenage boys remained the same. At that moment, Nathan felt bad for blaming Ryan for part of what happened the other night.
"You can ask the others we were together with that night. She came to us and demanded exactly what she got." The boy continued.
"You can also check with the hotel she took us to. It is all her doing." The boy continued to insist.
He was threatened to speak the truth. His story did not change. He was also offered a lesser sentence than what his friends would be facing if he cooperates. Still, his story remained the same. It was the same process with the others.
The next thing to be done is to go to the hotel that the boys mentioned to confirm their story. With the hope the hotel has a working surveillance.
Nathan could not believe it was all real. Even though it is not confirmed that what the teenage boys were saying was true yet, it seems that way.
The same Keren Williams he has been with for a few years now seems to be so cunning.
He recalled how they were always running into each other back in college. She would say it is a coincidence. Later went ahead saying it is fate. They were destined to be together.
Even though he didn't believe in such things, he went along with it.
She then always tried to play the victim and everything happening to her was his fault.
"Nathan, I left behind my whole life in my city to be with you. Only for your father to make my life a living hell in Silverbrook. I couldn't get a job anywhere. Not even as a waitress or cleaner."
"Nathan, why did you bring me here? Everyone is looking at me as a mistress. Brooke thinks wrong of me. She feels I am the one getting between you two. I should have stayed back in my town, all these wouldn't have happened to me. This is all your fault."
"Nathan, I have no one in Silverbrook, except you. I have no friends or family. You are all I got. Why are you treating me like that?"
"Nathan, I feel safe only when you are close. What happened to me has traumatized me. Had it been you didn't leave me all by myself in a town I am not familiar with, this wouldn't have happened. This is all your fault."
"Nathan, can I stay with you in your villa?"
All these playing innocent by Keren kept replaying in Nathan's head. The worst was, he kept falling for each and every one of her games. But the question is why was she doing all that? What is the goal she is trying to achieve?
Moments later, The police together with Nathan arrived at the hotel. It was not a very luxurious place but they were lucky to have working surveillance cameras.
The Police and Nathan went through the footage for an hour. They finally found the footage when Keren and the teenage boys walked into the hotel. Keren was the one who paid for the room herself.
They went on to another footage where they got off the elevator on the second floor of the building. Although, they didn't see where they got into the room.
Moving forward in the recordings. In the early hours of morning, the boys were seen walking to the elevator. While Keren only left like an hour after the boys. She came out of the room limping and with bruises all over her.
When she got to the front desk on the ground floor, the receptionist there offered to call the police. Due to the situation Keren was in. But she insisted he did not. He called the police anyway but she quickly left before the police arrived.
Nathan was shivering in anger. He doesn't have time to think much about the situation as he immediately called his friend, Matt. When he answered the call, Nathan began to speak. "I need your help. I want your father to help me pursue a legal case against Keren."
"Against her?" Matt asked in a confused tone. "You meant to say against those who assaulted her, right. Have they been caught?" He asked further.
"No. Case against Keren." Nathan repeated. "She has done a lot of things. She needs to be punished for the few that I have evidence. Like wasting the police time and preventing the course of justice."
"What. I don't get it. What happened?" Matt asked.
Nathan explained everything in detail to Matt. So that he can give his father the accurate details of the situation.
Matt's father is the presiding executor in Silverbrook. He is the best option of getting Keren behind bars soonest.
"That is definitely messed up. Why are the ones that always seem to be quiet are the same ones that are most dangerous?" Matt questioned. "Well... The good thing here is Ryan will be relieved. He doesn't have to feel guilty anymore for not taking Keren home that night."
"I will speak to my father about this immediately. For now, just make sure she doesn't know what is going on, so that she doesn't flee from the town." Matt suggested.
"She knows I am onto her. But don't worry about that. I have it all under control." Nathan assured Matt. Because of that, Nathan requested for more guards at the hospital. Since now he has found out how cunning she could be just to get things her way.
"You are not escaping this, Keren. You will be punished for your crime just the way you deserve it." Nathan said out loud.
He laid a formal complaint against Keren. Although, even after that, an arrest warrant would not be issued until after twenty four hours.
However, Nathan received a disturbing phone call from the bodyguard at the hospital.
