Chapter 15 Chapter 15
"I am sorry, sir. I couldn't stop her. But the problem now is, she is in the missus' bedroom. She has removed all the missus clothes from the closet and replaced them with hers." Mrs Scooter reported on the phone.
"What!" Nathan asked in a very angry tone. He sat up from his lying position. "What is she thinking? How dare she?" He said before ending the call.
He immediately left the office building and drove home. He opened the main door to the villa forcefully. That startled Keren, Mrs Scooter and other two maids that were present.
"Nathan. You are home. I am so glad you are back." Keren said with excitement as she walked to him. There were still visible bruises on her face but most of them had faded. She has a small bandaid on one of the cuts on her face.
Nathan did not look her way. His attention went to the clothes scattered all over the living room. There were two large boxes also on the table and one on the floor.
"Oh, I thought I might help with clearing out Brooke's clothes from the closet. You must have been busy with work stuff and you couldn't do it earlier." She explained, pointing at the clothes.
She then resumed her steps towards him with a sly smile plastered on her face. "I love it here. The villa is amazing, spacious and has a garden of its own. It will be a great place for me to heal -"
"What the hell are you doing here?" Nathan interrupted her. He also put up his hand to indicate to Keren not to come too close to him. "Did I tell you that you can leave here? This is mine and Brooke's home."
"But- I didn't- Nathan, we had the conversation yesterday at the hospital, remember?" Keren tried to defend.
"We really didn't have the conversation. I purposely avoided the conversation. That is my hint of rejecting your request in a polite manner. Why couldn't you take the hint?" Nathan said in an annoyed tone.
"I just thought you were ok with it. I mean, you are divorced now. You know I was assaulted and I still need physical and emotional healing. Having you close will help me with emotional healing." Keren explained with teary eyes.
"I would never let such a thing happen. You can't leave here, Keren. You have to leave." Nathan said.
"I need you, Nathan. You know I was assaulted because you left me all by myself at the club the other day. If not for that, I wouldn't have come here and begged to stay close to you."
"I just feel like, if I go back to my apartment, it could happen again. I am in this situation because you left me all by myself in a place I knew no one." Keren explained in a sad tone.
In that aspect, she was right. It was him who left her there after inviting her to the place. But that doesn't mean he had to make such a grave sacrifice for that. He wanted to remain single for the time being and focus on the family business that is now in his care.
"You don't have to be alone. I will hire a guard for you and a house help, so that you don't feel alone. I will also find you the best therapist you can find to help you with the emotional aspect. But staying in mine and Brooke's home is out of the question." Nathan south.
"Did you really replace your clothes in the closet and get rid of Brooke's?" He squinted his eyes at her. When he didn't get a response, he took heavy steps towards the master bedroom.
"Nathan. Nathan. I can explain." Keren rushed behind him, calling after him.
He did not stop nor answer her. He kept walking till he got to the room and opened the closet. She really did replace them all with hers.
'This is not acceptable.' Nathan thought. "How could you, Keren?" He asked.
"I - I thought it would be more convenient to have my clothes in there. I can sleep on the couch if you want me to. We don't have to share the bed." Keren suggested.
"This is where Brooke's clothes belong. This is her home. My father bought this as a wedding gift. I will never let another woman come into Brooke's home or try to replace her. Never." Nathan said.
Moments later, Keren wiped the tears that fell from her eyes before entering the car. Nathan asked his driver to return her to her apartment.
When she settled in the car, she turned to look at Nathan with pleading eyes. Probably hoping he would change his mind and allow her to stay. But Nathan did not budge. He stood there with his hands crossed on his chest and his expression hard to define.
Nathan could not help but think Keren is trying to blackmail him into coming closer to him. But using the incident that happened to her as bait. She kept reminding him it was his fault that she was assaulted. He didn't take her to be a bad person but at the same time, he seems to have no reason for her actions.
"Help Rose put Brooke's clothes back where they belong." Nathan instructed the other two maids.
"Yes sir." They answered in unionism and went to work.
"Mr Leo, there is something else you need to know." Mrs Scooter began. She looked very uneasy.
"What is it, Rose?" Nathan asked with keen interest.
"The missus called the house phone earlier." She reported.
Nathan knew Mrs Scooter was talking about Brooke. He gave her all his attention. "What did she say?"
"She was talking about a certain wristwatch but I couldn't get all the details."
"Why not?" Nathan was confused.
"Emm.... It was Miss Williams. She snatched the phone from me so I couldn't hear the rest of the details." Mrs Scooter said. Concern was still writing all over her face.
"What!" Nathan said.
"I believe she also made the missus believe she is leaving here now." Mrs Scooter added.
"What the heck!" Nathan exclaimed. He couldn't help but wonder how that made Brooke feel. It seems Mrs Scooter has more to say. But Nathan doesn't have that patience.
He picked up his key and left the house at full speed. His next stop is Turner's mansion.
