Chapter 254

Chapter 254

I searched my mind, trying to dredge that memory from my mind.

"I only remember Grandpa calling and asking me to come to Percy Manor. After I arrived, I found that Mrs. Alicia Percy was there too. After that, we argued, and then..."

But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't recallthat stretch of memory.

My entire mind felt shrouded in white fog.

"Then what happened??" Leopold's fingers curled slightly, gripping my hand in his palm.

I tried to remember again, but suddenly my head felt as if needles were stabbing it.The pain forced me to clutch my head. "I can't remember. I can't remember..."

Perhaps my expression looked too pained, because Leopold immediately pulled me into his arms, gently soothing me, "Stop trying."

I quickly relaxed, but iinstinctively sensed that something was different this time.

I couldn't say what exactly was different..
"Mr. Percy, we've arrived at the hospital," Teddy reminded us.

Leopold and I quickly got out of the car. Alicia had already been taken tothe emergency room.

Donovan and the butler were waiting outside the door.
"Mr. Percy, listen to the doctor and take your medicine," the butler urged, holding a thermos in one hand and pills in the other.

Donovan initially shook his head, but seeing Leopold and me arrive, he took the medicine.

"Grandpa, how are you feeling now?" Leopold's eyes were full of concern.

Donovan shook his head. "I'm fine. It's your grandmother... I don't know if she'll make it."

My heart felt like something had stabbed it viciously.

Looking at Donovan's pale face, I quickly stepped forward to apologize. "Grandpa, I'm sorry."

Donovan looked at me deeply. "Cindy, what exactly happened? You two were fine when I left. How did your grandmother end up like this when I came back?"

These words made my heart ache even more.

"Grandpa," Leopold spoke up proactively. "I've already asked her, but her condition relapsed. She doesn't remember anything at all."

"What?" Donovan looked shocked and glanced at me. "You really can't remember?"

Guilt overwhelmed me. I lowered my face and shook my head again.

"How could this happen?" Donovan clearly didn't know what to say either.

"Don't worry. I've already asked Dr. Moore and Arnold to come to the hospital. We'll talk after they arrive." Leopold tried to reassure him.

Hearing this, my fingers unconsciously gripped the hem of my clothes.

Did Leopold believe me or not?

"Mr. Percy, Dr. Moore and Arnold are here." Just then, Barry hurried in from outside.

Leopold nodded, said something to Donovan, and took me out.

Our footsteps echoed through the quiet corridor.

"Leopold." As we were about to leave, I stopped and looked at him. "Do you believe me?"

Leopold's steps faltered slightly. He turned to look at me, his gaze deeper and darker than the night.

He gently touched my head. "After you finish your examination, I'll tell you."

My heart plummeted.

I felt disappointed.

But I said nothing more.

Given Christian and Arnold's special status, it wasn't appropriate for them to appear in public, so Leopold took me directly to the third floor for the examination.

Even though it was short notice, the hospital's preparations were thorough.

An hour later, my examination was complete.

But unlike before, Christian and Arnold didn't discuss the results in front of me. Instead, they called Leopold aside privately.

I was already confused and lost. Now I felt even more uneasy.

Outside the door, a figure flashed by.

I looked up sharply to see Teddy approaching Leopold with a worried expression, saying something.

Leopold immediately stopped talking and walked toward me. "I'll take you back first."

I was startled, then asked anxiously, "What happened? Why are you suddenly sending me back?"

Leopold took my hand. "I'll explain later."

Suddenly annoyed, I pulled my hand away. "Leopold, you said you wouldn't keep things from me."

Leopold's eyes darkened slightly, his thin lips pressed into a tight line.

Unease flashed through me, and a moment of clarity pierced my muddled mind. "Is there something wrong with my examination?"

Leopold's pupils contracted, the darkness in his eyes nearly solidifying.

He nodded very slightly. "Dr. Moore and Arnold said you didn't have an episode."

My breathing hitched. My chest forgot to rise and fall. "Then why can't I remember what just happened?"

Though I had no memory of Alicia being stabbed, I did remember that the new drug had caused me to lose partial memories twice before.

Leopold's voice was dark and low. "We're not certain yet. We need to give Dr. Moore and Arnold time to investigate."

I couldn't accept this result.

How could it not be an episode?

Without an episode, there was no way I could have lost my memory.

Where was the problem?

Returning to the floor with the emergency room, just as we stepped out of the elevator, I heard a furious voice.

"Where is that bitch Lucinda! She dared to do something so insane as to try to kill someone—I'll skin her alive!"

My heart clenched instantly.

That voice—it sounded like David.

"Go!" Leopold pulled me back toward the elevator hall.

An elevator had just reached this floor. We hurried over.

But inside were Amelia and Harper.

"Leopold, Cindy, you're leaving?" Seeing us, Amelia asked in confusion.

The next second, hurried footsteps approached.
"Leopold, what do you think you're doing!"

David charged over with his bodyguards, surrounding Leopold, Teddy, and me.
He roared furiously, "Lucinda is the one who hurt your grandmother, and instead of arresting her, you're sending her away?"

Leopold immediately shielded me behind him. "Uncle David, you say Lucinda is the perpetrator? Where's your evidence?"

Seeing that something was wrong.Amelia spoke up too. "Dad, Cindy couldn't possibly hurt Grandma. Isn't there some misunderstanding?"

"Shut up, you ungrateful thing!" David rebuked Amelia harshly, then turned to look at Leopold.

As if he'd prepared in advance, he continued coldly, "You want evidence? I'll give it to you."

He raised his hand in signal. Soon, several servants were brought forward.

"Repeat everything you just told me."

Seeing those servants, Leopold's expression immediately darkened.

His powerful aura blanketed the entire space.

The servants didn't dare make a sound.

David grew angrier. "Have you all gone mute? Speak! If you dare hide anything, don't blame me for being merciless."

As soon as he finished speaking, the servants who'd been cowering like quail all looked up at me.

One of them even spoke through tears.

"Mr. Leopold Percy, I can stake my life on it—Ms. Wipere was the one who hurt Mrs. Alicia Percy. I saw with my own eyes her picking up the knife and stabbing it into Mrs. Alicia Percy's chest. I even tried to stop her, and she slashed my arm in her frenzy!"

To prove she was telling the truth, he even rolled up his sleeve to reveal a wound on his arm wrapped in gauze.

It must have been bandaged recently—the gauze still bore bright red bloodstains.
