chapter 143
chapter 143
Isabella's POV.
I never thought I would find myself bonding with Declan again. Not to even think about walking into a hospital with him beside me.
The hospital smelled like antiseptic, obviously it would because it was a hospital so I had no complaints about it. I could see the tension in Declan's face and the way he kept on breaking his knuckles because we were about to uncover the truth.
The truth he had silently feared for and the truth I had ignored for years.
“Are you sure that you want to do this? I want to know if you are mentally ready for this?” I asked softly as we stood outside the doctor's office.
Decline turned to look at me and I could see tiredness in his eyes.
“I have to do this because I want to know the truth. I want to know if I'm living in the truth or if I'm living in lies.” he said and my heart twisted at his words.
The only thing Sabrina had ever been able to do was tell lies. I fully believed that Ethan did not biologically belong to Declan and I wasn't saying all of this because I had come back into his life and I want to be permanently there.
But because I had arranged everything in my own perspective and I have seen through it all that we all had been deceived by her. There are no traits of Ethan that you can see in Declan. I mean why can't a son even resemble his father in some traits even if he did not have the physical looks?
I wished for everything to be the truth because I knew how this news could break Declan into pieces but then the only person that had the final say was the doctor and then no one else.
I knew that if it turned out to be a lie all along then it was definitely going to hurt him despite the fact that he pretended he was ready for the truth.
The door was pushed open and the doctor was an older man with gray hair and round glasses.
“Mr Declan Westwood.” he called out as he gestured for us to enter inside.
We stepped inside the office and he instantly closed the curtains. I knew why he did that because he knew who Declan was and this information couldn't be leaked out carelessly.
Everyone knew who Declan was as soon as he stepped into the hospital.
“Mr Westwood. I am doing all of these because I know about your high profile in this city and I'm going to run the test today. You will also get your answers today.” The doctor said,
“Thank you doctor.” Declan replied with a rough voice.
I sat there beside him as my mind pulled me into a flashback. The night Declan had come to me, he was desperate and restless and he also whispered that he needed proof to back up his claims.
We went to the penthouse where Declan had since Sabrina and Ethan to stay in. We did all of that discreetly as we sneaked into Ethan's room while the boy was fast asleep.
I watched Declan as my heart twisted painfully in my chest. His hand trembled as he leaned over the bed and his fingers brushed Ethan's hair gently. Almost like what every father would do and he took out one strand from his hair and put it inside of the transparent bag we carried along.
