Chapter 73 Heath

Chapter 74 Is This What You Call Uninjured?

"Just leave it on the table," Benjamin said without turning around, his voice cold and detached.

The servant's hand shook as she held the cup, almost spilling the coffee. She quickly placed it down and hurried out of the study, letting out a heavy sigh of relief once she was safely downstairs. She felt like she had narrowly escaped a disaster. Benjamin was truly terrifying.

In the study, Benjamin stood still for a long time, his mind racing with the information he had gathered.

Since Sophia had been brought back to the Brown Family, she had been constantly ignored, ridiculed, and even framed by Isabella.

No one in the entire Brown Family treated her with any sincerity.

Benjamin let out a cold laugh, his eyes flashing with a chilling light. He would never give the Brown Family another chance to harm Sophia.

The next evening, Benjamin went to meet Heath.

Despite his young age, Heath was already the CEO of a publicly traded company and quite capable.

But neither the Brown Group nor the Novalume Group had ever been on Benjamin's radar.

It was said that Heath had once cherished Sophia, his sister, deeply.

But after Sophia's sudden disappearance, he had found a new emotional outlet.

Benjamin walked into the private room, his eyes filled with mockery as he looked at Heath. To be able to shift his feelings to another person so quickly, Heath was clearly unfit to be Sophia's brother. Some people were irreplaceable, but the Brown Family didn't understand that.

"Mr. White," Heath greeted, looking up to see Benjamin standing at the door.

He quickly got up and walked over, extending his hand with a smile.

Benjamin, the future head of the White Family, was known for his mysterious and low-key demeanor.

Heath hadn't expected much, but Benjamin had actually accepted his invitation.

However, the next second, Heath's hand froze in mid-air, and his smile faded.

Benjamin stood at the doorway, glancing coldly at Heath's outstretched hand without any intention of shaking it.

The large private room was suddenly filled with an awkward silence. Heath's expression darkened slightly. He discreetly withdrew his hand and stepped aside with a polite gesture.

"Mr. White, why don't you come in?" Heath said, trying to maintain his composure.

Benjamin lazily lifted his eyelids and then walked into the room. Seeing Benjamin's indifferent gaze, Heath quietly let out a breath.

"Mr. White, I'm not sure if the food here suits your taste. Would you like to order for yourself?" Heath asked, handing over the menu as they sat at the dining table.

But Benjamin only glanced at it coldly. His deep eyes gave nothing away.

"No need for dinner. Mr. Brown, just get to the point. I have another meeting to attend," Benjamin said, his tone icy, leaving Heath no room for dignity.

Heath's face stiffened. Suppressing his embarrassment, he forced a smile.

"It's not a big deal, really. I heard that my sister's fans had a small conflict with Sophia. It caused quite a stir online, so..."

Benjamin set down his wine glass and looked at Heath with disdain.

"A small conflict? You call throwing hot water on someone a small conflict?" he said, his voice dripping with contempt.

Heath's face turned grim as he was abruptly interrupted.

Facing Benjamin's questioning, Heath felt a cold sweat forming on his forehead.

He took a deep breath, trying to mask his fear, and said calmly, "Mr. White, it was just kids messing around. Besides, Sophia wasn't hurt, was she?"

"What? Isabella is your sister, but isn't Sophia too?" Benjamin crossed his legs and leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable.

Meeting Benjamin's cold gaze, Heath's heart sank.

He frowned and explained, "Mr. White, I'm just stating the facts. Sophia wasn't hurt, so there's no need to escalate this to the police. It wouldn't be good for the White Family's reputation."

"Are you threatening me?" Benjamin's lips curled into a cold smile, his aura turning dark and menacing. His eyes narrowed slightly, and the powerful presence he exuded made Heath's heart race with fear.

"Mr. Brown, are you blind? Is this what you call not being hurt?" Benjamin scoffed, handing his phone to Heath.

Heath looked down at the screen, his pupils contracting in shock. "This... this can't be..."

Heath's eyes widened, his lips pressed into a tight line. How could this be? Isabella had said Sophia wasn't hurt.

On the phone screen, Sophia's delicate face was pale, her lips devoid of color. Her tender arm was covered in a large, red burn, with several blisters forming. Sophia's eyes were downcast, as if enduring the pain.

Heath's expression grew increasingly complex. He remembered being burned as a child when a servant accidentally spilled soup on his hand.

It was just a small burn, but he couldn't stop crying.

Yet Sophia's arm had a large, severe burn.

The red mark stretched from her elbow to her wrist, looking quite serious.

But Sophia didn't cry or show any signs of tears in her eyes.

If it were Isabella, she would have cried and acted spoiled even if just a drop of hot water touched her.

Heath's heart ached, his expression growing more complicated.

"Is this what Mr. Brown calls not being hurt?" Benjamin's deep, cold voice suddenly broke the silence.

Heath snapped back to reality, meeting Benjamin's sharp, icy gaze.

He opened his mouth, wanting to defend Isabella. But in the end, he couldn't say a word.

"If Sophia hadn't dodged quickly, that burn would be on her face. Mr. Brown, you should know how important a face is to a girl, right?"

Heath pressed his lips together, remaining silent.

Of course, he knew. Isabella, a popular star, valued her face more than her life.

She even went for beauty treatments every few days. If Sophia's face had been scarred... The thought alone made Heath's heart clench painfully.

Benjamin observed Heath's changing expression, a cold smile forming in his heart. "Mr. Brown, do you still want to brush this matter under the rug? Is the Brown Family always this self-righteous? Isabella is your precious sister, but Sophia is the one I cherish. So what gives you the right to expect Sophia to endure this?"

Benjamin's fingers tapped rhythmically on the table, each sound like a hammer striking Heath's heart.
