Chapter 530: You Now Look Like a Man Abandoned by His Wife
Chase turned on the engine and glanced in the rearview mirror, noticing something odd about the atmosphere between Benjamin and Sophia.
He wanted to ask where they wanted to go, but he wasn't sure if he should speak up.
Benjamin leaned against the back seat, lazily tapping his fingers, lost in thought.
Sophia kept her head down, looking at her phone, her fingers constantly tapping on the screen as if she was chatting with someone.
Finally, Benjamin couldn't hold back anymore and glanced at her several times.
However, Sophia was completely unaware of his gaze, still focused intently on her phone screen.
A complicated feeling rose in Benjamin's heart. Was the phone really that interesting?
What was the point of putting work aside to come here if he couldn't even get her attention?
The more he thought about it, the more upset he became. Benjamin was almost driven crazy by the scenarios playing out in his head.
If he hadn't known in advance that Sophia left with Sawyer, he would have suspected she had another man on the side.
Sophia had no idea what was going through Benjamin's mind. She had added Herschel Trevino from the prison on Messenger.
After learning she and her were family, Herschel immediately told her everything that had happened to Olivia in prison.
It turned out that after Isabella's actions were exposed, Zander was furious and embarrassed. He used all his connections to have Isabella and Olivia locked up in the same prison.
He knew very well that Isabella had played the entire Brown family for fools, and Olivia would never let her off easily.
Due to Olivia's personality, she definitely wouldn't go easy on Isabella.
He got his wish and Isabella was assigned to Olivia's prison, and they even slept in the same room at night.
According to Herschel's description, when Isabella first entered prison and saw Olivia, she looked thrilled and kept complaining to Olivia about all the wrongs she had suffered outside.
Olivia couldn't be bothered with her, but Isabella wouldn't let it go.
Later, Isabella dropped the act and completely fell out with Olivia. She said something to Olivia that triggered a fight between them.
While fighting, Olivia kept cursing.
Isabella was physically weak and had a heart condition, so naturally, she was no match for Olivia and got beaten badly.
After that, Isabella didn't dare provoke Olivia for a good while. As for Olivia, she also didn't start any more trouble either.
They lived peacefully for a while, with nothing more than minor disputes.
Sophia quickly typed on her phone screen, asking him, "Did Isabella start the fight today too?"
"No, this time Olivia was the one who provoked it."
Sophia was surprised and found it strange. According to Herschel, Olivia had been well behaved since she got to prison, eager to get her sentence reduced.
Although Olivia and Isabella had conflicts, Olivia had never made the first move.
What happened this time?
Herschel complained,"I also find it strange. Normally, Olivia isn't someone who would start a fight. She and Isabella had an argument during dinner, but they quickly made up, and no one paid attention to it. Who would have thought..."
Who would have thought Olivia would go after Isabella on her own, and Olivia ended up seriously injured?
He was also curious. Considering Isabella's physical condition, she shouldn't have been able to hurt Olivia in such vital areas.
How could this have happened?
Sophia fell into thought and asked, "Where's Isabella? Is she badly hurt?"
"Isabella isn't seriously hurt. She only suffered some minor injuries. This incident has already alarmed the higher-ups, and it won't just be swept under the rug."
Herschel partly gave Sophia all this information as a favor for the White family, and also because he knew Sophia was connected to both Isabella and Olivia.
Sophia was thinking through the whole situation when a shadow suddenly fell over her.
She looked up and met Benjamin's deep, resentful eyes.
"Who are you chatting with? You seem pretty into it."
He didn't even notice the jealousy in his own tone.
Sophia didn't overthink it and honestly told Benjamin about what happened at the prison. Afterwards, she could feel the temperature slowly warming up.
She put away her phone and rolled her eyes speechlessly. "Who did you think I was chatting with?"
Benjamin's thick lashes fluttered slightly as he answered without changing expression, "I don't know, I wasn't really thinking about it. Not interested."
"...Really?"
Meeting Sophia's smiling eyes, Benjamin sighed helplessly. "No, not really."
He actually really cared about who Sophia was chatting with.
She was making him feel abnormal as of late. On one hand, he didn't want to interfere with Sophia's social circle, but on the other hand, he wanted her to focus all her attention on him.
At least when they were alone together, her attention had to be on him.
Otherwise, he felt uncomfortable all over, as if a destructive urge was about to burst out from within.
Fortunately, he was a master at concealing his feelings and was strong enough to control and manage his emotions.
Sophia reached out and cupped his face, examining him carefully.
Her palms were soft, smooth, and warm. Benjamin's spine stiffened and his throat bobbled as he wondered what she intended to do.
Benjamin's heart raced uncontrollably as he stared into Sophia's bright eyes.
He slowly lowered his head, about to kiss Sophia's lips.
But before Benjamin could touch Sophia, she pulled her hand back and commented seriously, "Mr. White, you look like a man who's been abandoned by his wife."
