Chapter 528: A Belated Apology
Sophia thought she would never see Olivia again in this lifetime, but fate brought them together once more.
This time, it was Sophia who took the initiative to see Olivia.
Olivia never expected that she would see Sophia again in her lifetime, either.
Her life could be considered quite a story. The first half of her life was carefree - she grew up surrounded by everyone's care and love, innocent and simple-minded.
The second half of her life began the moment she met Hayden.
That was also when her life's tragedy started.
Ever since she was locked up in prison, she thought about it every day - how did she end up like this?
She should have had a bright and beautiful life, living the kind of life everyone envied. Before meeting Hayden, she vaguely remembered she even had a fiancé.
That fiancé was chosen for her by Maddox. They were well-matched in status, and he was pretty good-looking too - basically the best choice for her to marry.
But back then, she didn't like being controlled or told what to do. She was at her most rebellious, always wanting to go against Maddox's decisions.
That's when Hayden appeared.
And then... she was deceived by Hayden for nearly thirty years.
Although during those thirty years, on the surface her life seemed pretty good with several children, it was all just an illusion.
Hayden had been keeping a mistress on the side all along and even had an illegitimate daughter.
Her most beloved daughter was cruelly thrown by Hayden to an illegal organization to be used as a test subject, just so he could pave the way for his daughter with his mistress.
Her three sons were all successful, but in the past two years, none of them had come to see her.
They resented her - resented that she had been blind, deceived by Hayden, fooled by Isabella.
Her life had really been a complete failure.
She lay weak and powerless on the hospital bed, countless scenes from the past flashing through her mind.
Everything she had experienced played like movie scenes, frame by frame, circling and echoing in her head.
Her whole body hurt as if her organs were about to shatter. She had no strength at all, her vision kept going dark, and she felt dizzy.
Just then, she heard footsteps approaching, getting closer.
She struggled to open her eyes. In her blurry vision, a delicate and beautiful face appeared before her.
Her eyes widened slightly, almost thinking she was hallucinating.
Sophia?
Was that Sophia?
She tried hard to open her mouth, wanting to say something, but found she didn't even have the strength to speak.
She lay flat on the bed, trying to lift her hand to grab onto something, but couldn't lift it at all. Only her fingertips moved slightly.
Sawyer immediately came in, frowning with worry: "Mom, are you okay?"
The doctor standing nearby explained, "Olivia got into a fight with Isabella this morning. We still haven't figured out why they fought. Olivia took a heavy blow to the head, and she has many wounds on her body."
Sophia examined Olivia's body and found she was very weak. She lifted the blanket and saw that her abdomen seemed to be wrapped in gauze.
Her eyes focused: "What happened here?"
The doctor sighed: "Isabella found a sharp object somewhere and accidentally stabbed Olivia's body during the fight."
Normally, there shouldn't be any such weapons in the prison, but no matter how much the police questioned Isabella, she refused to say where the sharp object came from.
The prison immediately sent over a doctor, but Olivia had lost too much blood, and the situation was critical.
They had already called an expert who was on the way.
Sawyer gripped Olivia's hand tightly and turned to look at Sophia: "Sophia, how is Mom doing?"
Sophia thought for a moment and said slowly, "Just a little bit more, and the sharp object would have injured her spleen. Her condition is indeed tricky. I need professional surgical equipment and a room."
Right now, Olivia wasn't in good condition to be moved, but the prison didn't have a professional operating room, let alone the necessary equipment.
"Contact the nearest hospital. The patient needs surgery immediately."
"Sophia..." Ever since Sophia appeared, Olivia's eyes hadn't left her.
Hearing her voice, Olivia thought she was hallucinating and instinctively wanted to call out to her.
Sophia looked down at her.
Olivia's face was now haggard and pale, completely colorless. Her brows were tightly furrowed, as if she were enduring great pain.
But even so, it didn't diminish the beauty of Olivia's face at all.
Instead, it added a sense of fragility that made people feel sorry for her.
With her looks and family background, what kind of man could she not find?
What a shame - no matter how beautiful Olivia was, she had been blind.
If Olivia hadn't met Hayden, maybe she would be doing better now. After all, this was already the worst situation possible, wasn't it?
But there are no "ifs" in this world.
Sophia shook her head, pushing away those messy thoughts, and said to her, "You're badly injured. I need to operate on you. Don't be nervous."
After speaking, she took out a painkiller from her bag and fed it to Olivia.
Olivia clearly felt the pain in her body lessen considerably.
Her eyes reddened slightly, her lips trembled, and she slowly said: "Sophia, I'm sorry."
