Chapter 520 Benjamin Arrives
There weren't many patients in the morning. Sophia saw several patients, all with common ailments that only required medication.
Around noon, Lowell suddenly came to see her again.
"Sophia, do you want to have lunch together? I know a restaurant with pretty good food."
Sophia smiled and declined politely, "Sorry, my husband has already made a reservation. Maybe next time."
Sophia could tell Lowell had feelings for her. It was precisely because she knew this that she was unsure how to act around him.
Before meeting Benjamin, she was a loner.
Even when she was in school, she rarely interacted much with her classmates.
There weren't many people who interested her.
Benjamin was the only person she was willing to approach on her own.
Aside from Robert and her senior, almost everyone close to her was somehow connected to Benjamin.
This didn't mean she had no social circle of her own—she just couldn't be bothered to maintain one.
And she was quite content with things as they were.
After saying goodbye to Lowell, Sophia left the hospital.
As she was about to take the elevator downstairs, she happened to run into Odette.
Sophia paused for a moment, nodded at Odette, then entered the elevator.
Only Odette and Sophia were in the elevator. Sophia had no intention of making conversation, so the whole ride was silent.
Odette kept glancing at Sophia from the corner of her eye.
She hadn't been back to Novaria in a long time. She had thought she was accomplished enough, but it turned out Sophia was even more impressive.
And most importantly, Sophia was connected to Alaric.
Yesterday, she had tried to feel out Sophia's personality, but she hadn't expected Sophia to be so guarded.
In the end, not only did she get nothing out of her, but she also made Sophia wary of her.
She stood quietly beside Sophia, her mind constantly working on how to improve their relationship.
She cleared her throat. "Sophia, want to have lunch together?"
"No thanks, my husband is picking me up for lunch."
Sophia replied with a smile.
Odette's breath caught, and her eyes flickered.
Was Benjamin here?
When did this happen?
How had she not received any news about this?
It seemed yesterday's events had rattled her so much that she'd forgotten to keep track of the White family's movements.
Odette smiled. "I see. You and Mr. White have such a good relationship. It's really enviable."
Sophia's lips curved slightly, her eyes full of warmth. "Yes, we do have a very good relationship."
In front of others, Sophia never hid her relationship with Benjamin.
Though she sometimes unconsciously showed off their affection, every word she said was true.
She and Benjamin had a great relationship. They had hardly ever had any conflicts.
Their biggest conflict was probably when Benjamin had forgotten her.
And two years ago, when he fell into the sea, Sophia had felt heartbreak for the first time.
It was precisely because they had been through ups and downs that they now cherished each other even more.
Now she was carrying their baby. In the future, their family of three would surely become happier and happier.
Odette had expected Sophia to be modest, but she hadn't expected her to agree so readily.
For a moment, Odette couldn't find a topic and didn't know what to say, so she fell silent.
Just then, the elevator doors opened.
Sophia waved at her and turned to walk out of the hospital.
Odette stepped out of the elevator afterward and saw a car parked at the hospital entrance.
Benjamin got out of the car, opened his arms, and pulled Sophia into his embrace.
His movements were casual and natural, as if he had done this a thousand times before—so practiced that every gesture had become instinctive.
She was somewhat surprised. She had never imagined that the cold and aloof Benjamin would fall for a woman.
She lowered her eyes, lost in thought.
Just then, a sharp and piercing gaze suddenly fell on her.
She instinctively looked up and met Benjamin's keen eyes.
She paused, then hurriedly turned around and quickened her pace back inside.
Sophia noticed the change in Benjamin's demeanor and turned around curiously, but saw nothing.
"What's wrong?" she asked curiously.
Benjamin withdrew his gaze and shook his head slowly. "Nothing. Get in the car."
Just now, he seemed to have encountered someone familiar, but that glance was too brief.
The person had quickly turned away, and he hadn't gotten a clear look at their face.
He stopped thinking about it and opened the passenger door, gesturing for Sophia to get in quickly.
He took Sophia to a Spanish restaurant. The food here suited Sophia's taste perfectly.
The desserts after the meal were also quite good.
Sophia ate with relish.
Benjamin just watched from the side, his eyes brimming with warmth.
He loved watching Sophia eat so carefreely—it made him forget many of his worries.
He had always had smooth sailing before and had hardly ever faced setbacks at work.
Aside from his somewhat frail health, no one dared to look down on him.
But after coming to Harmony City, he realized that the White Group's branch office here had changed completely.
Two years ago, before his accident, he had plenty of energy to manage the White Group's branch office.
Later, when Alaric took over the White Group, he focused all his attention on Silverlight City.
Some members of the White Group's Harmony City branch management had started getting ideas.
This morning, he went to a construction site and discovered that someone actually dared to cut corners on materials.
