Chapter 519: Long Time No See, Alaric
After leaving Francis's hospital room, Sophia ran into Odette again.
More precisely, maybeOdette was deliberately waiting for her.
Because she was now standing at the door of Sophia's office, seemingly lost in thought.
Perhaps hearing footsteps, Odette slowly turned around and smiled at Sophia: "Sophia, you're back?"
"Did you need something?"
"I just took on a patient and wanted to invite you to take a look together. You won't refuse, will you?"
Odette's lips curved into a smile, gentle yet alluring, impossible to look away from.
She and Sophia had different styles of charm, but each had her own beauty.
At this moment, standing together, they formed a stunning sight.
Many passing doctors and patients turned to look.
Sophia smiled and opened the office door: "Come in."
Actually, she couldn't quite figure Odette out, nor did she understand why she would actively seek her out.
Although most doctors in the hospital were away, there were still several doctors more professional and experienced than her.
But Odette had specifically chosen her.
If she said there was no ulterior motive, Sophia wouldn't believe it.
Odette didn't stand on ceremony and walked right in.
She handed the X-ray film in her hand to Sophia and sat down across from her.
"Ms. Brown is younger than I expected, and more capable too."
Sophia paused while taking the X-ray film and asked curiously: "Did you know me before?"
"No, but the whole Harmony Hospital has been talking about you. I also watched your wedding livestream the day before yesterday."
Sophia lowered her eyes, her lips curving slightly, saying nothing.
She focused on looking at the X-ray film in her hand, then quickly stated the patient's symptoms and the solution.
A flash of surprise crossed Odette's eyes. Although many doctors and nurses in the hospital had been saying that Sophia was very capable, she had never been able to imagine just how capable.
But now she had a basic understanding of Sophia's medical skills.
The patient she had taken on was in serious condition. She had studied the X-ray film for over twenty minutes before finally confirming the diagnosis.
But Sophia had only looked once.
Just once.
If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she would never have believed it.
No wonder Francis praised Sophia so highly.
Sophia put down the X-ray film and looked up at Odette: "I've answered your question, so can you answer mine now?"
Odette: "Ask away."
"Why did you come to me? If it's the same answer as before, you don't need to say it."
Odette laughed. She was liking this Sophia more and more.
"Don't misunderstand. I just wanted to see what the rare medical genius Francis talked about was like."
Sophia's eyes curved with a smile, her dimples faintly visible on her cheeks: "So now you've seen? How different am I from what you imagined?"
Sophia knew that Odette wasn't telling the truth, but she couldn't quite figure out what Odette was thinking.
Odette stood up, said nothing more, and left Sophia's office directly.
Sophia found it strange, but quickly put the matter aside and focused on her work.
Although Francis's surgery was successful, his follow-up care still required a complete treatment plan.
And then there was the cost. Harmony Hospital's fees were beyond what ordinary people could afford.
Francis had basically no savings, but if Sophia directly paid his fees, he would definitely be unhappy.
Francis had a stubborn temper and cared a lot about his pride.
He could help others himself, but getting him to accept help from others was harder than climbing to heaven.
Sophia propped her elbow on the desk, her other hand gently twirling a pen.
After about ten minutes, she wrote down a treatment plan in her notebook.
This treatment plan was efficient and cheap. Francis would find it hard to refuse her help.
That's what she'd do!
On the other side, Odette returned to her own office. She sat at her desk, staring blankly.
After a long while, she finally moved slowly, took out her phone from her pocket, opened the photo album, and played a video.
A video of a wedding livestream. The atmosphere at the wedding was romantic and beautiful, it made one feel happy.
A burst of noisy cheering came from the phone, the atmosphere lively.
At this moment, the camera focused on the bride and groom, then flashed past the audience.
Odette slowly pressed pause. Her fingertip gently landed on an extraordinarily handsome face, nostalgia and greed flashing in her eyes.
Eight years.
Long time no see.
Alaric.
