Chapter 500: Getting Your Dignity Back
The next morning, Sophia woke up early. While she was eating breakfast, a figure stormed in angrily.
"I'm so mad! I'm so mad!"
"I've never seen such a shameless person!"
"Who does he think he is, bossing us around the moment he arrives!"
Gregory walked in, cursing furiously.
Sophia's fork paused slightly as she looked up at him in confusion.
"Gregory, what happened?"
Gregory had been building up anger since early morning and was desperate to find someone to vent to.
He had rushed over right after getting off the plane, hoping to find some comfort from Sophia.
But before he could speak, he noticed Benjamin's icy gaze shooting toward him.
His eyes were extremely cold, sharp as a blade, scaring Gregory into silence.
He backed down, pulled over a nearby chair, and sat down, shaking his head with a resentful look: "Nothing, you eat first."
Only then did Benjamin withdraw his gaze with satisfaction and continued feeding Sophia with his eyes lowered.
Sophia sat on his lap, obediently opening her mouth, letting him feed her while her little legs swung gently.
The anger stuck in Gregory's chest somehow suddenly dissipated.
He couldn't help but sigh - why was the gap between people so huge?
Some people got served even while eating, while others didn't even have a girlfriend.
Though he did have many female fans. Every time he participated in esports competitions, the seats below were filled with girls cheering for him and his teammates.
Thinking this way, he felt much better.
After Sophia finished eating, she finally remembered him: "Gregory, what's wrong? Why are you so angry so early in the morning?"
"Don't even get me started. One of our team members is retiring, and the coach has specially found a new member. Guess who it is?"
"Who?" Sophia's curiosity was indeed piqued.
Gregory took a deep breath and slowly uttered a name: "Flynn."
Sophia's eyes widened in surprise. No wonder she had seen Flynn in yesterday's competition livestream.
So he was an esports player now?
Actually, Flynn's age was already quite old for an esports player. He would have to retire in just a few years.
Why would he join an esports team at this time?
Gregory sighed heavily, his expression somewhat defeated: "He's pretty capable, about on par with me."
Actually, he was slightly better - just a tiny bit!
Last night, he and his teammates went to a celebration banquet, also as a farewell for the retiring teammate.
Just when everyone was crying their hearts out, Flynn appeared.
He already resented Flynn because of Sophia, so knowing Flynn was joining the team made him dislike him even more.
So he challenged Flynn.
The final result was that he lost and Flynn won.
Then all the team members fell silent, and he was equally incredulous.
He had previously seen the information Matthew investigated about Flynn, knowing that Flynn had never been involved in esports before college.
Plus, Flynn had been spoiled by the Brown family, arrogant and conceited, so Gregory had a very poor impression of Flynn.
He just didn't expect that when they formally met for the first time, he found Flynn quite different from what was written in the files.
Flynn was quiet, cold-natured, indifferent to everyone, with no smile on his face.
Even after winning against him, Flynn showed no joy, which made him even angrier.
He felt Flynn's attitude was contemptuous toward him.
He felt humiliated by Flynn.
Last night, he was so angry that he couldn't sleep all night, so he came to complain to Sophia right after getting off the plane.
Sophia fell into thought, wondering about something.
After a long while, she looked up at him: "Gregory, don't be upset. I'll get your pride back for you."
Gregory's eyes instantly lit up, and he immediately opened his phone, "Wait, I'll tell you his account name."
"No need, I have it." Sophia waved her hand and picked up her phone from the side.
She did have Flynn's game account - she had just blocked it.
She removed Flynn from her blacklist and sent a message.
She hadn't played this game in a long time. Her original first-place position had already been taken by someone else.
The game name at the very top was Flynn's account.
Sophia raised her eyebrows. She didn't expect Flynn to have improved so quickly.
Back in the day, Flynn used to call her "boss." His gaming skills were absolutely terrible then. If she hadn't found him somewhat likable, she would have stopped paying attention to him long ago.
After sending the message, someone quickly replied: "Boss, is it really you?"
Then Flynn sent a string of emojis - sad, crying, asking for a hug...
This was completely different from the cold Flynn that Gregory had described.
Sophia stared at these cute emojis on her phone, somewhat doubting Gregory's words.
Gregory noticed Sophia's gaze and immediately leaned over: "What's wrong? He's so shameless, talking to you in that tone? And sending all these emojis!"
Gregory was thoroughly disgusted. He could hardly believe his eyes.
Sophia thought for a moment and only replied with one word: "Yes."
Flynn got even more excited, almost wanting to jump up. Since Sophia blocked him two years ago, he had never contacted her again.
He guessed that Sophia had blocked him, but never figured out what he had done to upset her.
When he started learning esports, on one hand, it was to meet Gregory and build a good relationship with him to find out about Sophia's situation, and on the other hand, it was to catch up with Sophia.
He knew that with her abilities, she must be a master, and he heard her esports level was very high.
He thought at the time, what if he ran into her at an esports competition?
But later, no matter how much he searched, he couldn't find any information about her.
Who knew she would take the initiative to contact him!
He carefully asked: "Boss, did you contact me because you need something?"
Sophia replied: "Let's compete in a game."
She was as cool as ever.
Flynn almost burst into tears seeing Sophia's message. He had finally waited for this!
He excitedly replied, "Boss, my skills have improved a lot now; you'd better be careful."
Sophia's eyes curved with a smile. Although she hadn't played this game in a long time, she was very confident in her gaming skills.
Gregory kept staring at the phone screen, his whole heart tense.
The room was filled with Gregory's screams, one after another.
Benjamin frowned. He reached out to cover Sophia's ears, looking at Gregory with disgust.
