Chapter 485 Reporting Safety
Hearing Conrad's words, Benjamin's breath caught. "What did you say?"
Conrad explained, "Here's what happened. I just received an order for about a dozen dishes..."
Just as he was about to go through the whole thing in detail, Benjamin impatiently cut him off.
"Get to the point."
Conrad said helplessly, "All these dishes are Mrs. White's favorites."
Actually, Harvest & Hearth had been pretty busy lately, so normally he wouldn't have noticed these details.
But today he took a walk through the kitchen.
The chef was preparing a dessert that Sophia often ordered.
And it was Sophia's signature dessert.
The chef had learned to make this dessert specifically for Sophia, so he took an extra look.
At first, he didn't think much of it, assuming Sophia just wanted dessert again.
But then he glanced at the order and found that the address wasn't the White Manor.
The customer's phone number was unfamiliar, too.
Conrad immediately sensed something was wrong, which is why he made this call.
Benjamin instantly understood - this was Sophia giving him a hint.
It was also her way of letting him know she was safe.
He felt a wave of relief, and at the same time, made up his mind to find Sophia no matter what.
"Send me the order information, right now," he commanded coldly.
After hanging up, he quickly received a text message.
It contained an address.
A location near the airport.
Benjamin immediately started the engine and headed toward the address.
While driving, he called Chase.
He told Chase to send people to watch the area.
If anything suspicious happened, report to him immediately.
After about twenty minutes, he finally arrived at the address Conrad had sent.
It was a coffee shop near the airport.
From the outside, the coffee shop looked completely normal.
Afraid of alerting them, Benjamin didn't rush in.
He parked his car by the roadside and looked inside through the window.
It was morning, and there weren't many coffee drinkers.
Only a few scattered people were in the coffee shop.
Benjamin guessed this wasn't the real place he was looking for.
Lachlan's people were always careful - they wouldn't write down the actual delivery address.
This was probably just some random place they picked.
Since they wrote this address, their people must be nearby.
After waiting about ten minutes, he finally saw suspicious people.
A black car came toward him and stopped in front.
Then two men in black suits got out of the car.
Their aura was cold, clearly different from ordinary people.
More like well-trained bodyguards or assassins.
Benjamin leaned back in his seat, eyes fixed on their figures.
His slender fingers tapped lightly on the steering wheel, waiting for the right moment.
Soon, Chase arrived with his men.
He opened the car door and got into Benjamin's car, asking, "Mr. White, I heard there's news about Mrs. White?"
"Not yet. Send someone to check out the coffee shop ahead, but don't blow our cover," Benjamin instructed in a flat tone.
Chase nodded immediately, "Okay."
"Also, send a few people to wait at the intersection ahead. Follow them closely as soon as they leave."
"Yes."
Chase got out immediately after receiving the orders, without any delay.
Meanwhile, at GeneCipher Society headquarters.
Sophia returned to that cramped room, anxiously waiting for the food to arrive.
She carefully prepared a formula for all the children.
Some children were so weak from hunger that they didn't even have the strength to eat.
Sophia had no choice but to coax each child one by one.
They were very well-behaved, perhaps not even having the strength to cry, only able to whimper.
The children's whimpering broke Sophia's heart.
Emilio also helped take care of the children. He was even more skilled at this than Sophia.
Though Emilio was still a child himself, he bravely held up the sky for these children.
He looked down and asked Sophia, "Can we really get out?"
Sophia was caught off guard by his question.
She nodded firmly, "Yes, definitely. Someone will come rescue us very soon."
She believed Benjamin would never give up looking for her.
As long as they held on, everything would be okay.
A glimmer of light gradually appeared in Emilio's eyes, "Really?"
"Really," Sophia answered with a smile.
Emilio smiled too. His world had originally been pitch black, with no end in sight.
But now, for some reason, he believed Sophia's words.
After feeding the children their formula, Ivan and the others walked in again. "Sophia, when are you going to start the research?"
"What's the rush? You brought me here, and I haven't even had a meal."
Sophia couldn't help but snap back without holding back.
Ivan and the others were left speechless by her words.
Jake, standing behind Ivan, had a hot temper and couldn't take it anymore.
"Why are you being so nice to her? Can't you see she doesn't care about you at all? If you ask me, she won't help us unless we use some force."
Ivan scolded sharply, "Don't talk nonsense. She's someone Lachlan brought here."
Jake was unwilling to back down, "So what if Lachlan brought her? If he really cared about her life, how could she have been brought to a place like this?"
The other professors nodded in agreement.
Several of them were older men with traditional male chauvinist views.
They looked down on women to begin with.
And to them, someone of Sophia's age was just a junior.
How could a junior boss around their elders?
Sophia's hand paused while feeding the children, a cold glint flashing in her eyes.
"What? You want to hurt me?"
Jake snorted coldly, "If you know what's good for you, you'll follow our arrangements."
Sophia: "And if I don't?"
Sophia looked gentle on the surface, but had a stubborn streak in her bones.
She was always receptive to gentle approaches, but resistant to forceful attitudes.
If others were forceful with her, she could be even more forceful back.
In her mind, these professors had already hit rock bottom.
Under the guise of contributing to human medical progress, they had harmed countless children's lives.
These people deserved to die ten thousand times over.
Sophia had no intention of participating in their research.
Much less would she go along with them and experiment on innocent children.
Jake felt insulted, his face instantly turning vicious.
He walked toward Sophia, clenching his fists hard.
His eyes were full of malice.
He swung his hand mercilessly at Sophia, wanting to teach her a lesson.
No one had time to react. Ivan gasped.
But it was too late to stop Jake now.
They instinctively held their breath.
The children also shrank back, fear showing in their eyes.
However, the expected sound of a slap never came.
Instead, they heard a scream of pain.
