Chapter 471 Owed Too Much
Hayden wanted to call out to stop her, but realized she had no intention of paying attention to him at all.
Watching Olivia's retreating figure, Hayden felt a sharp pain in his chest.
His heart felt like something was missing, as if something important had quietly slipped away.
But before he could think more about it, he was taken away by the police.
Looking at the prison gates slowly closing, Hayden's tears fell once again.
What exactly had he missed all these years?
The woman he loved most had betrayed him, and the daughter he cherished most had also betrayed him.
Yet the woman he had discarded like trash was actually the person who treated him best in this world.
Olivia was such a good person, and he had completely missed his chance with her.
Hayden slowly crouched down, holding his head and crying bitterly.
......
Sophia had thought that after Hayden left, he would never come back again.
Who knew he would return that afternoon?
This time, he had lost his arrogant attitude and seemed very dejected instead.
"Sophia, please, I'm begging you to save your mother..."
Sophia looked at him in disbelief, as if she had heard the biggest joke ever.
"What did you just say? You want me to save who?"
Hayden: "Your biological mother, Olivia."
Sophia laughed out loud, "Why would I save her, and what gives you the right to ask me?"
Hayden was stumped by her question. He opened his mouth but couldn't say a word.
Right, what position was he in to ask Sophia for anything?
Ever since signing the severance papers, he had lost that right.
He couldn't help but smile bitterly, but still pressed on: "I know Olivia, and I wronged you before, but she is still your biological mother."
"So what?" Sophia's expression remained unchanged, her eyes calm.
Just because she's the biological mother, should she be forgiven?
Then what about all the suffering she had endured?
Hayden's eyes were red, his hands clenched tightly into fists.
The next second, he knelt in front of Sophia.
"We know we were wrong now. I won't ask you for money anymore. I'm just begging you to save her."
If it weren't for him, Olivia would still be the beloved princess of the Smith family.
He had ruined Olivia's life, and Sophia's life too.
It's just that Olivia wasn't as lucky as Sophia.
She never met a man willing to risk his life for her, and her family had abandoned her, too.
The only thing Hayden could do now was beg Sophia to spare Olivia.
Sophia was startled by Hayden's sudden action, then couldn't help but mock him.
"Didn't you hate Olivia? How did you change your mind so quickly?"
Hayden choked up as he answered: "I just went to see her in prison. She's gotten thinner and doesn't seem to be doing well in there."
Sophia raised an eyebrow, "You care about her?"
"I wouldn't say I care, it's just that I owe her too much and want to do what I can to make up for it."
Before today, Hayden had thought he had completely lost his conscience.
He thought he would never feel any compassion again, after all, his own life was already hard enough.
But when he saw Olivia, his heart felt like it had been stabbed through with a sharp knife.
Blood dripping everywhere.
"I already told you, I've cut ties with you all. Whether you live or die has nothing to do with me."
Olivia's current situation was her own doing.
Actually, Olivia was just a woman blinded by love.
If only she could have resisted Hayden's sweet talk, she wouldn't have this tragedy now.
"I won't get involved in this matter. Sorry."
Call her cold-hearted, call her heartless - she wouldn't save Olivia.
Not caring about family ties didn't mean she would let people walk all over her.
She remembered every single thing the Brown family had done to her, every word they had said.
She would probably never forget in this lifetime how much her biological parents despised her.
Hayden wanted to say more, but was interrupted by Sophia.
"Security, show him out."
The bodyguards who had been standing in the yard immediately came in, "Mr. Brown, please."
Hayden slowly stood up and left Maple Grove Villas dejectedly.
Before leaving, he turned around to take one last deep look at Sophia, then stumbled away.
At this moment, a servant who had watched the whole thing walked over, "Mrs. White, you really don't plan to help?"
Sophia glanced at her, "Why should I help?"
The servant answered in confusion: "Isn't Mrs. Brown your biological mother? Can you really just stand by and do nothing?"
"Would you be willing to help someone who wished you were dead?"
The servant was stumped by the question. She had never thought about these issues before.
She only knew that Olivia was Sophia's biological mother. What kind of person watches their biological mother suffer without caring?
She was also a mother herself, with a four or five-year-old child.
So she unconsciously put herself in Olivia's shoes.
If something happened to her, she would hope her child would help her, not just stand by and watch.
But she had overlooked one thing.
She wasn't Olivia, and her child wasn't Sophia.
She had heard that the Brown family had done many things wrong to Sophia and had even cut ties with her.
If Sophia hadn't been lucky enough to meet Benjamin, her fate would probably have been terrible.
Forget it, these were the masters' affairs. She just needed to do her own job.
"Mrs. White, I'm really sorry. I spoke out of turn."
Sophia looked at her coolly, "Don't do to others what you wouldn't want done to yourself. Before helping someone, you need to figure out if that person is worth it."
If they weren't worth her help, there was no need to waste time. That was her principle.
The servant quickly nodded: "I'll remember that."
Sophia said nothing more and went upstairs, planning to rest for a bit.
After getting pregnant, she had become very sleepy and couldn't seem to stay alert.
But when she lay in bed, she couldn't fall asleep at all.
Her heart felt vaguely uneasy, as if something was about to happen.
Could it be that GeneCipher Society was about to make a move?
But M and Wilford were both watching GeneCipher Society's people and hadn't noticed any unusual activity.
Whatever...
She sat up in the bed, planning to go out and find Benjamin.
Over an hour ago, Benjamin had received a call from Alaric, asking him to come over.
They had been meeting frequently lately, and occasionally Sophia would go along too.
But after she got pregnant, Benjamin had been extra careful, worried she might get hurt outside, so he wouldn't let her come along anymore.
But she was naturally restless and was really bored staying at home all the time.
She wanted to go out for some fresh air, and she wanted to see Benjamin.
Before leaving, Sophia called Benjamin to ask for his exact location.
As soon as Benjamin heard she wanted to come out, he immediately tensed up.
"Sophia, just stay at home. I'll be back right away."
"But I'm about to go moldy staying at home." Sophia pouted, complaining softly.
