Chapter 411 Bathing Him
After Alaric and Matthew left, only Benjamin and Sophia remained in the hospital room.
Benjamin buried his face in the crook of Sophia's neck, nuzzling gently.
His voice was low as he asked, "Stay tonight?"
Sophia felt a tingling sensation on her neck and pushed his face away with a giggle.
"If I stay, where am I supposed to sleep?"
There was only one sofa in the room, and Alaric had made do with it last night.
She'd heard he woke up this morning almost with a stiff neck.
Although she really wanted to stay and keep Benjamin company, she still felt a bit hesitant.
After all, a stiff neck really hurts.
And she hated pain the most.
How could Benjamin not see through her thoughts?
His long, cool fingers gently tapped her nose, somewhat amused. "What are you thinking? How could I possibly let you sleep on the sofa?"
A big guy like Alaric could make do anywhere, but his wife was precious.
Sophia looked around. "Then where would I sleep? I heard the hospital cots aren't comfortable either."
She pouted, acting a bit spoiled. "I need to get a good night's sleep."
What Sophia meant was: if you want me to stay, you figure it out yourself.
Watching her proud little attitude, Benjamin couldn't help but smile.
He nuzzled her cheek and murmured in her ear, "This bed is big enough for both of us. If you're not comfortable, I can have Chase buy a new mattress and bring it over."
Sophia laughed at that. "Who brings their own mattress to the hospital?"
Benjamin looked serious, not joking at all, just staring at her intently.
Sophia's heart softened under his burning gaze, and she nodded in agreement. "No need for a new mattress, this one's fine."
Most importantly, she could sleep with him.
She'd been having insomnia for several days now. Even with calming aromatherapy in her room, she still tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
It was afternoon now, and warm sunlight streamed through the glass window onto the hospital bed, warm and cozy.
Sophia leaned against him, surrounded by his familiar scent, and finally felt sleepy.
After a while without hearing Sophia speak, Benjamin looked down and found she'd fallen asleep on his shoulder.
He smiled helplessly, using his uninjured arm to hold her slender waist and help her lie down on the bed.
Looking at her peaceful, sweet sleeping face, Benjamin smiled and lay down beside her, soon falling asleep as well.
...
That evening, Sophia called the servants at home and had them bring her toiletries and a change of clothes.
Benjamin's hand was still wrapped in bandages, making it difficult to shower. He looked at Sophia hopefully.
Sophia's cheeks flushed red as she stammered, "Actually, your hand isn't that serious. Plus, with the special ointment I made, you'll probably be able to remove the cast soon."
"So... maybe you can hold on a bit longer?"
"How can anyone hold on about something like this?"
Benjamin's eyelid twitched. As someone with a cleanliness obsession, what he couldn't stand most was not being able to shower every day.
Yesterday Alaric didn't come back until midnight, exhausted, and went straight to sleep.
He had to get out of bed by himself, go to the bathroom to fill a basin with water, and give himself a simple wipe-down.
If this continued today, he'd probably start to disgust himself and wouldn't be able to sleep tonight.
Sophia had no choice but to help him down from the bed and take him to the bathroom.
In the bathroom, the shower area and toilet were simply separated by a blue curtain, looking rather basic.
For the convenience of disabled people, the hospital had installed handrails on the walls.
The cast couldn't get wet, so he couldn't take a proper shower. Benjamin felt uncomfortable all over.
Sophia comforted him softly, "The cast should come off in about ten days. Just hang in there, be good."
As she spoke, she stood on tiptoe and ruffled his short hair.
"Ten days?"
The cold, serious expression on Benjamin's face cracked for a moment.
He could barely stand not showering for one day, let alone ten!
Yet Sophia said with a hint of schadenfreude, "Mr. White, it's only ten days. It'll pass quickly."
Benjamin: "..."
He looked resignedly at the cast wrapped around his hand, his lips twitching.
But he was thinking about how to shower tonight.
If he couldn't get it wet, showering would be really inconvenient.
Originally he thought about wrapping it with plastic wrap, but it was already late at night.
Only he and Sophia were at the hospital. He couldn't make Sophia go out specially to buy plastic wrap for him, could he?
He weighed his options mentally and finally gritted his teeth, gave up struggling, and used his uninjured hand to unbutton his hospital gown.
Sophia was currently facing away from Benjamin.
She filled the basin with hot water, soaked and wrung out a towel, then stood up. "Okay, just give yourself a quick wipe..."
Before she could finish, she suddenly saw Benjamin's bare chest and well-defined abs.
Benjamin had his clothes half off. Seeing her suddenly turn around, he paused slightly.
He raised an eyebrow. "What? Stunned?"
Sophia snapped back to reality, her cheeks involuntarily flushing. "Don't talk nonsense! I wasn't!"
She would never admit that she'd almost drooled over Benjamin's abs just now!
However, she didn't know that all her reactions had fallen into Benjamin's eyes.
He chuckled, teasingly calling her out. "Really? I could have sworn I just saw someone drooling over me."
Sophia: "..."
She couldn't stay here anymore!
She needed to find a hole to crawl into!
Seeing Sophia cover her face, knowing she was embarrassed, Benjamin's lips curved up slightly, and his previously gloomy mood improved considerably.
He stepped forward and pulled Sophia into his arms, gently nuzzling the top of her head with his chin.
"Look all you want, it's free."
Sophia buried her face in his chest. Hearing his words, she couldn't help but look up and add, "You're mine anyway."
You're mine anyway.
Sophia's words successfully made Benjamin laugh.
He nodded, agreeing seriously. "I'm yours."
Then he continued, "So, Mrs. White, do you want to stay and help your husband shower?"
"In your dreams!"
Sophia glared at him coquettishly, feeling that tonight he was being a bit too much.
She felt like she couldn't handle it.
"But I only have one hand. It's really inconvenient. Mrs. White, do you have the heart to watch your husband shower all by himself?"
He pretended to sigh. "Forget it. If the wound accidentally gets wet and infected, I'll just have to stay in the hospital longer."
Although Benjamin said this, his expression was visibly dejected.
He looked like someone who, even when hurt, still thought of others first.
She had no idea where Benjamin learned all these lines from.
