Chapter 403: You Are the Boss in Our Family

Chapter 405 Go Back to Take Care of the Patient

When the child was born and turned out to be healthy, Amelia grabbed onto this like a lifeline, using Cillian as a tool to keep Magnus around.

He witnessed firsthand how differently Amelia treated him compared to Cillian, so at such a young age, he became more and more quiet and withdrawn.

Back then, Amelia would tell him every day that he was a curse, that his arrival had caused her lifetime of tragedy.

Little Benjamin gradually came to believe that everything was his fault, that he shouldn't exist in this world.

It was Preston who told him that everyone who comes into this world has a reason to exist, and that his parents' broken relationship had nothing to do with him.

Only then did he gradually regain a glimmer of hope to keep living.

"Enemies? No, did something happen to you?" Preston's words pulled Benjamin's thoughts back to the present.

His brows furrowed slightly as he pressed on: "Grandpa, think about it carefully again. This is really important to me."

Preston thought for a long while, but still shook his head. "No, whether it's me, your father, or even your older brother, none of us would deliberately make enemies."

Of course, if someone came looking for trouble, they weren't afraid either.

Benjamin asked again: "What about me? Did I offend anyone before?"

Before he recovered his memory, he never noticed, but that night he clearly saw the deep resentment in those eyes.

Perhaps the person was coming after him?

But when he was kidnapped to that lab, he was only seven years old.

Even if he really had offended someone, who would hold a grudge against a seven-year-old child?

And even want to make him suffer a fate worse than death?

He couldn't figure it out.

Preston snorted coldly. "You've offended plenty of people. Don't you know that yourself?"

Facing Preston's sarcasm, Benjamin's lips twitched slightly. "Grandpa, if there's nothing else, you should rest early. That's all, I'm hanging up now."

With that, Benjamin hung up directly.

Preston stared at his phone screen, grinding his teeth in frustration.

In the hospital room, Benjamin casually tossed his phone aside and stared at the ceiling, lost in thought.

Sophia was currently in the operating room performing surgery on a patient with severe heart disease.

By the time the surgery ended, several hours had passed.

When Sophia came out of the operating room, the patient's family was waiting at the door, their faces full of impatience and anxiety.

Hearing her say the surgery was successful, the family members finally breathed a sigh of relief and hurried to thank Sophia.

The nurse standing behind Sophia couldn't help but roll her eyes quietly.

Before the surgery, they complained that Sophia was too young and practically wanted to curse her out.

Now that the surgery was successful, they wanted to act like nothing happened?

Where in the world does that kind of thing fly?

She was upset and wanted to say something, but saw Sophia slowly wave her hand, her tone cold: "Although the surgery was successful, the patient is still very weak and needs to stay in the hospital for observation for a few days. The family needs to take good care of them."

The family members responded half-heartedly, with insincere smiles on their faces.

Sophia couldn't be bothered with them. She had already given the necessary instructions, so she just left.

After taking off her white coat, Sophia went straight to Francis's office.

Seeing her arrive, Francis's face slowly broke into a smile. "Sophia's here? Please, sit down."

"I won't sit. I need to get back to take care of my patient. I came here just to let you know that for the next couple of days, unless it's really urgent, you should find someone else to handle things."

Sophia wasn't a regular hospital employee; she was more like a special consultant.

So the hospital's rules and procedures really couldn't bind her.

Francis stopped taking notes and looked at her in surprise. "Isn't your husband's injury already fine? Plus, our hospital is already using the medicine you developed, and it's doubled the effectiveness of treating external injuries."

Sophia lifted her chin, her eyes full of pride. "He needs me with him."

When people are sick, it's often when they're most vulnerable. Besides, Benjamin had been on edge lately because of Valentin.

So she wanted to spend more time by his side.

He waved his hand helplessly. "Alright, if we don't encounter any particularly difficult cases these next few days, I won't call you in again."

He didn't want to keep bothering Sophia either, but he was about to retire, and the hospital couldn't find anyone to take over temporarily.

The hospital did have several professional surgeons, but while they were more than capable of handling regular cases, they were at a loss when it came to rare or difficult ones.

Sometimes even he had no solution and could only ask Sophia for help.

Plus, his physical strength and energy weren't what they used to be lately, and he couldn't perform surgeries on patients anymore.

When patients come to the hospital for surgery, it's like putting their lives in the doctors' hands.

As doctors, they had to be responsible.

So he wouldn't push himself and insist on doing it.

Sophia understood his concerns well, so she suggested: "Instead of putting your hopes in others, why not help our hospital's doctors improve their own skills?"

Francis's furrowed brow gradually relaxed as he smiled and asked: "What? Are you willing to teach your medical skills to the hospital's doctors?"

"If they're willing to learn, I can teach them."

"Really?" Francis's eyes lit up immediately, unable to hide his excitement. "Sophia, I thank you on behalf of the hospital's doctors."

Sophia waved her hand dismissively. "Treating patients and saving lives is what doctors are supposed to do anyway."

Of course, the main reason was that she found it too troublesome.

If she had to personally treat every special case, wouldn't she be worked to death?

She wanted to live a few more years.

Francis had no idea what Sophia was thinking and asked somewhat awkwardly: "So... Sophia, when do you think we should start?"

Sophia thought for a moment, then answered: "After my husband is discharged. I don't have time during this period."

Right now, nothing was more important than Benjamin.

"I understand, I understand. Please tell Mr. White for me to take good care of his injury."

Francis gave Sophia a knowing look that said "I get it."

Sophia smiled helplessly and turned to leave his office.

When she returned to the hospital room, Sophia found Benjamin holding his phone, looking at something with great focus.

Benjamin would furrow his brows one moment, then show a disgusted expression the next.

Curious, she lightened her steps and walked toward the bed, wanting to see what he was looking at.

However, what she didn't know was that although Benjamin appeared focused, he had actually noticed her the moment she entered the room.

As she got closer, he reached out with his long arm and pulled her directly onto the hospital bed.
