Chapter 38: Confirming the Crime

Chapter 38 Confirming the Crime

One of the men was dressed casually, with black-framed glasses perched on his nose.

His eyes, hidden behind the lenses, were fixed on her with a creepy intensity.

Unlike Benjamin's straightforward yet intimidating gaze, this look was filled with malice.

Sophia paused, searching her memory, but she couldn't recall ever meeting this man.

She pressed her lips together and was about to leave.

Suddenly, a mocking voice came from behind, "Mrs. White, aren't you gonna come in and take a look? Or are you too scared?"

Sophia turned around to see the man with the black-framed glasses staring at her, arms crossed, a provocative expression on his face.

After a moment's thought, Sophia stepped inside. "Hey."

There were only about a dozen people in the department, yet no one greeted Sophia.

They all stared at her with complicated expressions.

Sophia lowered her eyes and smiled indifferently.

"Mrs. White, does Mr. White know you're bullying the employees?" A woman around Lily's age swiveled in her chair, crossing her legs as she faced Sophia.

Her chin was slightly raised, clearly ready to stand up for Lily.

Sophia looked at Lily, who gave her a taunting smirk before lowering her eyes again, resuming her pitiful, wronged demeanor.

Sophia's lips curved slightly, her eyes filled with coldness.

She placed her hands on the desk in front of her, looking coldly at the people before her, her red lips parting, "Do you think Mr. White knows you're bullying his wife?"

Seeing the stunned expressions on their faces, Sophia let out a cold laugh, shedding her usual innocent demeanor for an icy one.

Her clear eyes were now filled with piercing coldness.

The group was momentarily stunned, then they thought of Benjamin's cold, handsome face and felt a chill run down their spines.

The man in casual clothes spoke up, "Who are you threatening? If Mr. White knew you were so malicious, he wouldn't keep you around. You should apologize for bullying Lily!"

Others chimed in, "Yeah, apologize! Even if you're Mr. White's wife, you can't bully us regular employees!"

"Exactly, how could Mr. White like someone like you?"

"It's not Mr. White's fault. I almost fell for her looks too. She might be pretty, but who knew she was so vicious behind the scenes!"

Everyone spoke up, angrily accusing Sophia.

Sophia quietly scanned the room, finally fixing her gaze on Lily.

She stepped forward slowly, her fingertips lightly touching Lily.

On the top of her head, her neck, her back...

Finally, she bent down, whispering softly into Lily's ear, "If I really wanted to bully you, do you think you'd still be sitting here so comfortably? If you want to be bullied so badly, I'll oblige."

Lily felt the cold touch like a soft, boneless snake crawling over her.

Her body stiffened, a flash of fear in her eyes, "W-what are you going to do?"

"Bullying you. If I don't fulfill the accusation, how can I live up to your effort in acting?" Sophia's lips curved into an innocent smile, "Starting now, every three minutes, you'll feel intense pain. First your head, then your neck, and finally your whole body."

Lily's spine stiffened, a chill running through her as Sophia's words echoed in her mind.

She began to tremble violently, almost crying in front of everyone.

She shook her head, her voice trembling, "N-no! You're trying to scare me, right? What do you want?"

Sophia blinked her innocent, clear eyes, smiling sweetly, "I just want you to tell the truth. You know in your heart whether I've bullied you or not, don't you?"

She glanced at her wristwatch, "You have two minutes. Take your time, I can wait."

The man next to Lily noticed the cold sweat on her forehead and became furious.

He stood up, shouting at Sophia, "What did you do to Lily? How can you be so cruel?"

Sophia took a bag of chips from her bag, eating them as if she hadn't heard him.

Her nonchalant reaction infuriated the man.

He stood up, walking towards Sophia, ready to grab her shoulder.

Just as he was about to touch her, a flash of silver caught his eye.

The next moment, something stabbed his palm, causing his face to contort in pain.

He opened his mouth, but found he couldn't speak.

Sophia leaned back in her chair, leisurely eating her chips.

"You're too noisy." She glanced at the stunned crowd, her eyes narrowing slightly, "Are you all that free? Do you need me to assign you some work?"

Everyone had witnessed the man suddenly losing his voice.

Hearing Sophia's words, a fear crept into their hearts.

They quickly dispersed, returning to their workstations.

Two minutes later, a cry of pain rang out.

They turned to see Lily clutching her head, writhing in agony.

Her beautifully made-up face was twisted in pain.

Lily felt like her head was about to explode.

Her brain felt like it was being gnawed at by thousands of ants, the pain rendering her speechless, leaving only screams and whimpers.

Suddenly, Sophia's words echoed in Lily's mind.

Tears streamed down her face, regret filling her heart.

She never imagined that Sophia was not as simple as she appeared.

She was a devil.

What had Sophia done?

Just a few touches, and she was in this much pain.

The man next to her noticed Lily's distress and quickly approached.

He opened his mouth, but still couldn't speak.

He glared at Sophia, who was slowly unwrapping a piece of candy, his face twisted in anger.

It must be this woman!

He angrily advanced but then hesitated, pulling his hand back.

At that moment, Lily's cries grew louder.

Her voice was pitiful and heart-wrenching.

Lily was well-liked in the department, and many people struggled not to look at her.

After witnessing the man lose his voice near Sophia, everyone was now afraid of her.

Seeing no one willing to help her, Lily cried even harder.

Finally, unable to bear it any longer, she rushed to Sophia, pleading desperately, "Mrs. White, it was my fault."

"You never bullied me; I made it all up. Please, let me go!"

Listening to Lily's pleas, Sophia remained indifferent.

Now, Lily truly looked like she had been bullied.
