Chapter 371 Family Banquet
The smile at the corner of Sophia's lips deepened as she waved her hand at her quite generously, "I'll let it go this time. I hope there won't be a next time."
The smile on her face deeply irritated Celestia's nerves, making her even more unable to hold back.
"Sophia, you bitch! What gives you the right to show off in front of me? This is the White Manor - what are you, an outsider, so proud of?"
Celestia rushed forward and raised her arm to swing at Sophia.
However, that slap never landed. Instead, it was caught by a slender, pale hand.
Sophia stood before her, eyes slightly narrowed with a dangerous cold gleam in them.
"Celestia, have you forgotten the warning I gave you before?"
Celestia felt her whole body go cold under Sophia's stare. A chill crept up her spine, making her shiver hard.
She panicked and stepped back, instinctively wanting to escape, but her hand was held by Sophia.
For every step she retreated, Sophia advanced one step.
"What do you want to do?"
Celestia was truly panicking now.
She struggled hard, but found she couldn't break free no matter what.
"Have I been too tolerant of you? Is that why you think I'm easy to bully?" Sophia sneered.
Before, she couldn't be bothered with Celestia. No matter how much Celestia provoked her, she treated her like air.
She didn't expect that instead of calming down, Celestia would become even worse.
Celestia nervously swallowed, almost crying in anxiety.
"Sophia, I'm warning you - this is the White Manor. If you dare do anything to me, Grandpa won't let you off!"
"Won't let who off?"
At that moment, a deep voice carrying authority suddenly came from not far away.
Just that short sentence made Celestia's body freeze instantly. She looked toward the living room entrance in disbelief.
When she saw the person's face clearly, her pupils contracted. "Benjamin?"
Finnley walked over with steady steps and stopped in front of Sophia. "Sophia, did she bully you? Are you hurt?"
Finnley's deep eyes looked at Sophia with endless concern in them.
He never gave Celestia a single glance, as if he didn't consider her worth his attention at all.
Celestia looked at her wrist still being held, feeling even more wronged. Tears uncontrollably welled up and fell down her cheeks.
"Dad, Mom, save me!"
Is there no justice left?
Anyone could see she was the one being bullied!
Was Benjamin blind?
Watching this farce, a vein at Lachlan's temple throbbed hard. "Benjamin, it's my fault for not managing Celestia properly. I'm truly sorry."
"Dad, whose side are you on?" Celestia's face darkened in dissatisfaction as she glared viciously at Sophia.
Why was it that even though she was the young lady of the White family, everyone in the family liked Sophia?
Why?
She refused to accept it!
Sophia glanced at Lachlan indifferently and flung Celestia's hand away.
"Lachlan, I thought after moving out of the White Manor, she would learn her lesson and restrain herself a bit. Unfortunately..."
If Celestia didn't come looking for trouble, she wouldn't do anything to her.
But if Celestia dared to provoke her, she wouldn't be afraid either.
"It's my fault. I'll definitely manage Celestia better from now on. Sophia, please forgive her this time."
Lachlan was known for his good temper and was very indulgent with Celestia.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have raised Celestia to have such a spoiled and willful personality.
Sophia slowly shook her head inwardly, but still gave Lachlan face. "I hope there won't be a next time."
Today was a family dinner, and Sophia didn't want to make a big deal out of it. She turned and left with Finnley.
Finnley had been watching everything from the side and had basically figured out what happened.
Sophia wanted to let it go, but he didn't think the same way.
He still remembered when he first came to the White Manor a month ago, he saw Celestia humiliating Sophia in every way.
She even cursed that Sophia had caused his death.
Sophia's reaction was very calm then, which showed such things had happened more than once.
Thinking about how much difficulty Sophia had endured when he wasn't there, Finnley's heart couldn't stop aching.
He paused slightly, released Sophia's hand, and walked back to Celestia.
Seeing Finnley leave, Celestia had breathed a huge sigh of relief. She had always been afraid of him.
After two years, the aura around him had become even stronger and colder.
When Finnley appeared just now, she didn't even dare to breathe.
Finally when he left, Celestia glared viciously at Sophia's back, cursing her a thousand times in her heart.
Before Celestia could wipe the vicious expression off her face, she saw Finnley walking back.
Finnley was tall with a straight back, his long legs slowly striding toward her direction.
Finnley's steady footsteps echoed in the spacious living room, each step seeming to land on her heart.
Celestia instinctively held her breath, watching him in disbelief.
"Benjamin?"
"I told you before not to provoke Sophia again. Can you just ignore my words?"
"Let me explain..." Celestia said in panic.
"If you keep making trouble, get out."
Lachlan's face darkened as his sharp eyes stared directly at Finnley.
Arabella hurriedly said to Finnley, "Benjamin, although Celestia is immature, she already knows she was wrong. Please forgive her."
"It better be that way." Finnley glanced at Celestia indifferently and turned to leave without looking back.
"Benjamin..."
Arabella wanted to say more, but was stopped by Lachlan.
"He's angry right now, don't provoke him. And Celestia, what did I tell you before? Have you forgotten everything?"
Celestia's lips parted slightly, wanting to defend herself, but found she couldn't say anything.
Her throat felt blocked.
Whenever she thought about how Sophia was adored at the White Manor while she was forced to move out, her heart felt suffocated.
Preston, Benjamin, Alaric, and Cillian all revolved around Sophia.
And her?
She had nothing left.
Celestia felt resentful in her heart, but didn't think about how much Preston used to love her, and how disappointed he became later.
Preston, who was resting upstairs, heard Finn mention what happened downstairs and couldn't help but sigh deeply.
"This Celestia - she used to be a bit spoiled, but rarely unreasonable... I didn't expect her to become like this."
Celestia was his only granddaughter. He had doted on her extremely since childhood, wanting to give her all the good things in the world.
It was precisely because of this that Celestia developed a simple-minded, even foolish personality.
Before, she was used by Magnolia and did many things targeting Sophia.
Later, when Magnolia was driven away, she blamed everything on Sophia.
No matter what Sophia did, in her eyes it was wrong.
"Mr. White, Ms. White was manipulated before. If you guide her properly, you can definitely correct her." Finn consoled.
Preston waved his hand. "Correct her? As long as Arabella is around, I don't think that's possible."
Don't think he didn't know - behind many of the troubles Celestia caused, Arabella was involved.
