Chapter 370 Mrs. White, You Look Beautiful When You Are Shy
About ten minutes later, Sophia was almost out of breath and reached out to push against Finnley's chest.
Finnley reluctantly released Sophia, his deep eyes filled with desire.
"Go away, I don't want to talk to you anymore."
It hurts!
Sophia pouted, her lips slightly swollen, making them look even more alluring.
Her sparkling eyes were misty, adding a touch of charm to her appearance.
Finnley buried his face in the crook of her neck, laughing softly, his chest vibrating with the sound.
His low voice was particularly magnetic.
Sophia's ears tingled, and she uncomfortably rubbed them, her face full of embarrassment. "What are you laughing at? Is it that funny?"
"I'll stop laughing."
Finnley stopped laughing, his rough fingertips gently caressing her fair cheek.
"Mrs. White, have I ever told you that you look beautiful when you're shy?"
His tone was serious. Though his lips curved in a smile, there was no sign he was joking.
Even his sweet words sounded so sincere. Sophia's already flushed cheeks turned even redder.
Finnley's gaze was too intense, as if he wanted to melt her.
Sophia didn't quite dare to meet his eyes and looked away with her head tilted up, but the smile on her lips wouldn't go down.
After calming down a bit, she said with feigned pride, "Don't I look beautiful all the time?"
"You're right, our Sophia is the most beautiful at all times." Finnley chuckled softly, going along with her words.
Meeting his serious compliment, Sophia felt her heart racing.
Her eyes sparkled brilliantly. "Of course!"
She was quite confident about her appearance.
Downstairs, Preston walked Clifton to the door before voicing his concern.
"Clifton, tell me honestly, how long will it take for Finnley to recover?"
Clifton paused slightly and spoke slowly, "Preston, I really can't guarantee this. Finnley's condition is quite special. Whether he can get better depends on himself."
Preston's expression immediately became serious, and he tightened his grip on his cane. "Is there really no other way?"
Clifton reassured him, "Actually, like I just said, there was progress today. These things can't be rushed."
He could understand Preston's worry about Finnley's health as an elder, but he wasn't a god, and medicine wasn't all-powerful.
Preston's back bent slightly as he let out a heavy sigh.
He understood the logic, but sometimes he just wanted a bit more hope.
After seeing Clifton off, Preston silently returned to his room, leaning on his cane.
The next day, after getting up, Sophia found the servants at home bustling about.
Several servants were busy in the kitchen, with Finn standing to the side directing them. Some were cleaning, some mopping, and some arranging tables and chairs.
Sophia came down the stairs rubbing her aching waist and asked, "Finn, what are you all busy with?"
"Mrs. White, you're up? Isn't there a family dinner today? Mr. Preston White said that Mr. Benjamin White has returned and his condition has improved, so it's time to resume the family dinners."
Ever since Benjamin's accident, the White family's dinners had been canceled.
Now that Benjamin was back, the dinners should resume.
Even after Benjamin and Sophia moved out, they could at least come see Preston once a month.
Though Preston wouldn't say it out loud, he really couldn't bear to part with them.
Preston had been working hard for this family, and now that he was old, he should enjoy some peace.
Magnus and Lachlan couldn't be counted on, so now he could only count on Benjamin.
Sophia nodded in understanding. She remembered the White family did have this tradition.
But after marriage, she and Benjamin had been living at the White Manor and could eat with Preston anytime, so they hadn't been that particular about it.
But Lachlan's family had been kicked out of the White Manor two years ago and could only return during the monthly family dinners.
It was already noon now, so Lachlan's family would probably arrive soon.
Just as Sophia was thinking this, footsteps came from outside the door.
Sophia instinctively looked up toward the entrance and saw Lachlan walking in with Arabella and Celestia.
Lachlan walked over with a smile, giving off a warm and pleasant feeling. "Finn, Sophia, long time no see."
"Lachlan, long time no see." Sophia smiled back.
Arabella and Celestia's eyes scanned around the villa, then they quietly breathed a sigh of relief, as if looking for Finnley.
A month ago, when the supposedly dead person suddenly returned, it had scared Arabella and Celestia badly.
They even had nightmares that night.
This time, Arabella and Celestia had wanted to pretend to be sick and not come, but Lachlan disagreed and insisted on bringing them along.
Unexpectedly, as soon as they entered, they saw that bitch Sophia. Celestia raised her chin proudly, snorted coldly, and didn't say anything.
Sophia looked at her calmly, a faint smile on her lips.
In comparison, Sophia appeared gentle and gracious, dignified and elegant, while Celestia's reaction seemed too petty.
Arabella's expression changed, and she tugged at Celestia's sleeve, signaling her to mind her manners.
But Celestia was angry and couldn't care less about her image.
Seeing the smile on Sophia's lips, she felt greatly provoked.
Anger surged in her heart.
Celestia gritted her teeth, wishing she could tear Sophia's face apart.
At this moment, Lachlan, standing to the side, suddenly spoke, "Celestia, can't you even greet people? Have I been spoiling you too much? Who are you making faces at?"
Celestia's expression changed, her face immediately fell, and she felt wronged. "Dad, I'm your real daughter. Why are you taking that bitch's side..."
"Shut up!"
Before she could finish, Lachlan cut her off sternly.
"Celestia, have you forgotten what I told you before? Apologize to Sophia."
Sophia crossed her arms and looked at Celestia leisurely, waiting for her apology.
The apology itself wasn't important. What was important was... getting to watch Celestia get scolded.
Celestia was clearly the only young lady of the White family, with a noble status, but her brain didn't seem to work very well.
She had been used by Magnolia before to target her maliciously, which was one thing, but now that Magnolia was gone, she hadn't changed.
Sophia didn't know what she had done to make Celestia hate her so much.
Being ordered by her own father to apologize to the person she hated most, Celestia felt humiliated.
She hadn't done anything wrong, so why should she apologize?
Was she wrong? Sophia simply wasn't worthy of being Benjamin's wife.
But meeting Lachlan's threatening gaze, Celestia's shoulders shrank, and she apologized reluctantly.
"I'm sorry, Sophia."
