Chapter 321 Reunion is Destiny's Arrangement
The distance from Silverlight City to Harmony City wasn't far - just a two-hour flight.
Sophia slept the entire way. When the plane landed, she kept nuzzling her face into Finnley's chest, wishing she could hide herself away completely, not wanting to move at all.
She was like a sleepy cat, acting cute in her owner's arms.
Finnley felt his heart melting.
He sighed helplessly, bent down to scoop Sophia up in his arms, and strode off the plane.
They hadn't brought any luggage, only some small gifts they'd bought at the mall earlier.
Sophia was so light, almost weightless. Benjamin held her extra carefully, afraid of accidentally waking her.
As soon as they walked out of the airport, Finnley saw two men with outstanding looks and presence walking toward them.
One man had a cool demeanor and handsome features. He wore a well-tailored dark blue custom suit that wrapped around his perfect physique, making his aura even more imposing.
The other man wore casual clothes, his movements showing a relaxed, easygoing manner.
Standing in the crowd, the two were quite eye-catching.
Finnley lowered his gaze to look at Sophia sleeping soundly in his arms. His thin lips pressed together slightly as his arms around her tightened imperceptibly.
Matthew and Joshua both froze when they saw Finnley's face.
They exchanged glances, then quickly walked over.
"Matthew, Joshua." Finnley nodded at them coolly.
Matthew raised an eyebrow almost imperceptibly but didn't respond, his eyes locked on Sophia in Finnley's arms.
Joshua looked him over curiously. "I heard you lost your memory? So how did you find your way back?"
He'd hit the key point right away.
Logically, if Finnley had really lost his memory and disappeared for two years, it would be hard for him to find his way back on his own unless he ran into someone he knew or remembered something.
But Finnley had come back by himself.
Finnley glanced at him lightly, thinking to himself that some information wasn't necessarily true.
Who said Joshua was obsessed with making movies and had no schemes? If he really had no schemes, could he have stood firm in the entertainment industry for so many years?
His thin lips parted as he responded calmly, "Maybe it was fate's arrangement, letting me meet her again."
As he said this, Finnley lowered his lashes, his deep eyes gazing steadily at Sophia, his gaze overflowing with tenderness.
Joshua paused, then laughed and patted his shoulder. "Good that you're back."
After he fell into the sea, Sophia had become like a different person - dejected, desperate, as if there was no more color in her life.
When Joshua last saw Sophia, although she acted like nothing was wrong, anyone could tell she wasn't happy.
If it weren't for that bit of conviction in her heart, believing that Benjamin would definitely come back, she probably would have followed him to death long ago.
Seeing Sophia again this time, even though she was asleep, he could see that the gloom between her brows was gone.
As someone who'd watched Sophia grow up, Joshua hoped more than anyone that she could be happy.
Matthew stayed silent the whole time, his entire body radiating bone-chilling coldness.
When they got in the car, Joshua sat in the passenger seat, feeling like the temperature in the whole car had dropped several degrees.
He looked at Matthew driving, then at Finnley sitting in the back seat, feeling both helpless and amused.
Matthew had always doted on Sophia the most. If Sophia was someone Joshua had watched grow up, then the person who raised her was definitely Matthew.
Back when Robert was always traveling the world treating patients, Matthew, as the senior disciple, was responsible for taking care of them at home.
He took a hands-off approach with him and Gregory.
But with Sophia, it was different - he braided her hair every day, bought her gifts, washed clothes and cooked, taking care of everything perfectly.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say Matthew was raising a daughter.
These past two years, watching Sophia suffer, Matthew felt more heartache than anyone, so naturally he had resentment toward Finnley.
Finnley didn't understand their relationship, so naturally he wasn't backing down either.
Two people with strong, cold personalities together were like two icebergs colliding - mountains would crumble and earth would split in an instant.
Poor him could only silently watch Finnley and Matthew, not daring to even breathe heavily.
So pitiful, he was just so pitiful!
Sophia in her sleep sensed the cold air, moved slightly, curled her body up, and wrapped her slender arms tightly around Finnley's strong waist.
Finnley noticed the movement in his arms and calmly withdrew his gaze, the icy aura around him instantly dissipating completely.
The silent standoff between Finnley and Matthew was so easily resolved by Sophia's unintentional small movement.
Finnley lowered his gaze, the ice in his eyes gradually melting.
He tightened his arms around Sophia, his warm palm gently patting her back as he coaxed in a low, husky voice, "Sleep, I'm here."
Perhaps hearing Finnley's low, soothing voice, Sophia's furrowed brows slowly relaxed, and she fell back into deep sleep.
"She went to treat someone?" Matthew also restrained the coldness around him and asked in a lowered voice.
"Yes." Finnley responded briefly, his tone cool.
With one hand holding Sophia to make her more comfortable, his other hand gently caressed her cheek with his fingertips.
"She never sits still, always exhausting herself," Joshua said helplessly.
As he spoke, Matthew had already driven the car to his villa. After parking, he looked up through the rearview mirror at the back and said, "Get out. Your place hasn't been lived in for a long time and hasn't been maintained. Stay here for now."
Finnley didn't refuse and carefully carried Sophia out of the car.
Matthew's villa was located in the city center, in the same area as the house Benjamin had bought two years ago. The two villas were neighbors, very close to each other.
This villa was specially selected by Matthew.
...
When Sophia woke up, she found herself lying in a neatly arranged room.
The room's style was the same as her room in the mountains - all pink and girly, clearly decorated by Matthew.
She rubbed her sleepy eyes and stretched, rolling over and bumping right into a firm, warm embrace.
She lifted her face and found Finnley looking at her with smiling eyes.
"Awake?"
"Yeah." Sophia lazily lay back down. She'd slept too long and felt sore all over, even less inclined to move.
"Get up and move around, then we'll go down for dinner."
"Don't wanna get up." Sophia lay in bed, whimpering as she stretched her arms toward Finnley, signaling him to carry her down.
Finnley laughed helplessly.
Logically speaking, whether he'd lost his memory or not, he and Sophia had only known each other for a few days.
But no matter how intimate Sophia's actions toward him were, he didn't find it strange at all. He even felt that everything was natural, as it should be.
