Chapter 318 Venting Anger for Finnley
Sophia slowly lifted her face from Finnley's embrace and made a face at those men.
"Save those tough words for when you get out... Oh, I forgot to remind you—attempting to assassinate Celestria's executive director is no small crime!"
These well-trained young men had been through special training. They wouldn't even blink in the face of death.
But now, they felt humiliated.
Humiliated by a 20-year-old woman, no less.
An indescribable sense of shame rushed to their heads. They clenched their teeth in anger and embarrassment, their eyes burning with fury as they glared at Sophia.
Sophia wasn't scared of them at all. She turned to Finnley and tattled, "Honey, he's being mean to me."
Finnley stepped forward with cold eyes, bent his leg, and kicked the man who had yelled at Sophia.
The man wasn't prepared and was knocked to the ground, coughing violently several times.
Finnley looked like he hadn't used much force, but he'd actually used just the right amount of technique. Though it left no marks on the skin, the man's internal organs felt like they'd been shaken hard.
The man looked up in shock, staring at Finnley in disbelief.
He opened his mouth, about to say something, when he saw Finnley's tall figure looming over him.
Then, a slender, pale hand grabbed his shirt collar, lifted him from the ground, and pressed him against the wall.
With his hands cuffed, the man had no way to fight back.
He gasped for air, his vision going dark, his ears ringing.
Then he heard a voice as low as a devil's whisper: "I've told you all before—she's off-limits to everyone. You just had to push your luck."
At those words, the man's facial muscles twitched. A bone-chilling cold crept up his spine and spread through his entire body.
Thaddeus cleared his throat and said, "That's enough. We still need to take them back for questioning. Don't kill him."
Only then did Finnley release the man and return to Sophia's side.
As soon as he got close to her, the cold murderous aura around Finnley completely disappeared. He stared at Sophia without blinking.
Sophia pulled another wet wipe from her pocket and handed it to him. "Wipe your hands."
Finnley held out his hand but didn't take the wipe. "You do it for me."
"How old are you? Still need someone to take care of you." Sophia shot him a playful glare. Though she complained, she still took his hand and wiped it for him.
Finnley looked down. From his angle, he could clearly see Sophia's beautiful, delicate profile.
Her long, curled lashes fluttered gently, her fair little face slightly puffed out, giving her an indescribable liveliness and cuteness.
Even with something as simple as wiping his hands, she was completely focused, making him feel strangely cherished.
Thaddeus and Francis exchanged glances, both looking helpless.
Young people these days show affection anywhere, anytime.
Not like their generation—so conservative they didn't even dare hold hands in public.
After those men were taken away, Thaddeus asked Sophia, "You still haven't told me what condition you want to propose."
Sophia tilted her head and thought for a moment before asking, "Will you agree to any request?"
Thaddeus replied, "As long as it doesn't violate the law or ethics, go ahead and ask. If I can do it, I'll do my best."
Sophia's surgery had been very successful, which meant Celestria's executive director owed Novaria a favor. This was an important bargaining chip.
Sophia's smile faded as she said seriously, "I'd like you to send people to protect me and everyone in the White family."
"What?" Thaddeus looked at Sophia in surprise, thinking he'd misheard.
He'd thought Sophia would ask for something related to medicine, especially since Francis had been constantly telling him how talented Sophia was in medicine.
He never expected her to make a request unrelated to medicine.
Sophia didn't say anything, just looked at him steadily with a very determined attitude.
After thinking for a while, Thaddeus asked, "Why this request?"
"Thaddeus, you know I might have offended those people who tried to assassinate Celestria's executive director. What if they hold a grudge and want to kill me?"
Thaddeus's lips twitched. Setting aside whether those people were actually sent to assassinate Celestria's executive director, even if they were, they probably wouldn't take a 20-year-old woman seriously.
At this moment, he began to reassess Sophia.
Sophia looked sweet, innocent, and well-behaved, but what went on in her head was impossible to figure out.
He shook his head with a light laugh. "Did you know these people were following you all along, so you deliberately used me to get rid of them?"
Sophia blinked her big, innocent eyes, looking like she had no idea what he was talking about.
Thaddeus just felt helpless and amused.
Before leaving, he paused slightly as he passed Sophia. "Two weeks. No more than that."
Two weeks? That's enough!
Sophia's eyes curved into a smile as she said gratefully to Thaddeus, "Thank you, Thaddeus!"
Francis immediately followed Thaddeus to see him out.
In an instant, only Sophia and Finnley were left in the hallway.
Finnley looked down at Sophia with a hint of scrutiny in his eyes. "You knew someone was watching all along?"
"Yes." This time Sophia answered very honestly.
Actually, from the day Finnley appeared, she'd already noticed someone was monitoring her.
Sophia hadn't made a move before because she wanted to know what they were planning.
More importantly, she wanted to use this opportunity to send them a warning.
This was one of the surprises she was sending to Elijah—or rather, to that organization.
The first surprise was naturally Dashiell being expelled from the International Association of Psychological Hypnotists.
One of the association's principles stated that members must not use hypnosis to manipulate or control patients' mental states, as this would cause serious harm.
Sophia had hacked the association headquarters' website and posted all of Dashiell's treatment records from Novaria on it.
Although the treatment records had been tampered with, professional hypnotists could spot the problems at a glance.
As expected, the next morning the association issued an announcement expelling Dashiell.
As for the second gift—those men weren't actually sent to assassinate Wilford.
But so what? As long as the NSA investigated, they'd find something wrong with those men's identities.
Even if they couldn't trace it back to that organization, they could still make the organization lose some people.
Either way, it was satisfying.
Who told them to bully her husband and treat him like a walking blood bank?
Finnley rubbed his forehead helplessly and patted Sophia's fluffy hair. "Sophia did great."
He hadn't expected that Sophia, who usually seemed so sweet and obedient, could be so sharp when it mattered.
He could already imagine how furious Elijah must be.
Far away in Celestria, Elijah was woken up in the middle of the night by a phone call. When he heard that the men he'd sent out had been arrested by the NSA, he nearly coughed up blood in anger.
"Useless! All of you are useless! Sophia, Finnley! Just you wait!"
