Chapter 316 A Patient with a Special Identity
After finishing breakfast, Preston called Sophia to the study again, and had Alaric come along as well.
Once in the study, Alaric got straight to the point: "Sophia, can Benjamin... Finnley's memory be recovered or not?"
"Alaric, I mentioned to Grandpa before that Finnley was probably hypnotized by someone."
"Yes, I heard about that." Alaric let out a deep sigh.
"Don't worry yet. I called Francis yesterday, and he happens to know an expert in this field. It's just that the person is still abroad treating two patients and can't come back right away."
"Really?" Preston's eyes immediately lit up, his face full of excitement.
Alaric thought more long-term though. "Sophia, if this condition drags on, will it cause physical damage?"
"I'm not sure yet. We'll need the expert to examine him to know for certain. I'll do more research recently and see if I can find anything useful."
"I guess that's all we can do for now." Preston let out a deep sigh.
After a pause, Preston continued: "At my age, who knows how much longer I have. If anything happens to him, I won't be able to rest in peace!"
Sophia quickly comforted him: "Grandpa, don't talk nonsense. You'll definitely live to be a hundred!"
"Grandpa, leave this matter to Sophia and me. Just take care of yourself and don't overthink things."
After leaving the study, before Sophia could catch her breath, her phone rang in her pocket.
Sophia pressed the answer button and heard Francis's anxious voice coming through the receiver.
"Sophia, quick, a very important patient just arrived at the hospital. You need to come over right away."
Sophia frowned, her voice cool: "I'm busy."
Francis fell silent for a moment, then couldn't help asking: "What have you been busy with lately?"
Sophia looked at the tall man walking toward her, the corners of her lips curving slightly. "Keeping my husband company."
Francis: "..."
Another deathly silence.
Francis said helplessly: "Sophia, don't forget what you promised me. I help you find a psychological hypnotist, you help me handle difficult surgeries."
Francis had recently reached retirement age and wasn't suitable to continue holding a scalpel.
But among his students, while they were good at clinical practice, none were outstanding enough to quickly handle things independently.
With no other option, he turned his attention back to Sophia.
For the past two years, Sophia had been immersed in the grief of losing Benjamin, and unless it was an emergency, he would never disturb her.
What he didn't expect was that a few days ago, Sophia actually called him proactively, asking if he knew any highly professional psychological hypnotists.
As it happened, he really did know such a person.
So he made a deal with Sophia.
Sophia's lips twitched as she couldn't help reminding him: "This is already the fourth patient? Are you planning to hand over all your patients to me?"
Francis, having his intentions exposed, didn't feel embarrassed and explained: "I'd like to, but only if you agree."
"Other people can handle those minor surgeries. The hospital doesn't need me specifically." Sophia was dismissive.
She was only a specially-appointed doctor at the hospital, not a full-time one.
Francis smiled: "This time is different. This patient has a rather special identity."
Hearing Francis's mysterious tone, Sophia became interested. "Who is it?"
Francis: "Wilford Langley, the CEO of Celestria. When he was brought in, he was barely alive. I heard many international renowned doctors couldn't cure him. Having heard you're Robert's student, he specifically requested you to perform the surgery."
Sophia's expression changed slightly: "Francis, are you joking with me? If I cure him, fine, but if I can't, I don't need to tell you how serious the consequences would be, right?"
Finnley stood beside her, head lowered without a word, his slender fingers tightly holding Sophia's small hand, playing with it casually.
Seeing her face turn cold, his hand reached out first and pinched her soft cheek.
With his interference, Sophia's tense emotions immediately relaxed.
She glared at Finnley, signaling him not to mess around.
Finnley withdrew his hand, a trace of regret flashing in his eyes.
On the other end of the phone, Francis smiled bitterly and helplessly, "I didn't want to either, but the higher-ups specifically called and told me to contact you."
Sophia let out a cold laugh and exposed him mercilessly: "If you hadn't mentioned it, who would know about me?"
Francis, knowing he was in the wrong, laughed awkwardly twice. "So what do you suggest? I've already accepted it."
Francis was really getting less reliable with age!
Sophia sighed and said in a low voice: "If I cure him, I want them to unconditionally do one thing for me."
"That's not really appropriate, is it?" Francis said hesitantly.
At that moment, another voice came through the receiver: "Agree to her terms."
Hearing the response, Sophia's lips curved slightly, and she hung up the phone.
She looked at Finnley. "I need to go to the hospital. Do you want to come with me or stay home?"
"I'll go with you." Finnley answered without hesitation.
"Okay." Sophia smiled lightly and took him to the hospital with her.
Francis was pacing anxiously at the hospital entrance, constantly praying in his heart for Sophia to hurry over.
Two NSA personnel were standing beside him.
Soon, a black car stopped at the hospital entrance.
Francis's eyes lit up, and he quickly waved at her.
"Francis."
After Sophia walked over, her gaze fell on the two unfamiliar faces, a trace of confusion in her eyes.
Francis was currently staring at Finnley's face. Only when she reminded him did he react and introduce them: "These two are responsible for escorting the Celestria CEO - Noah and Isaiah. This is Sophia, Robert's student."
Sophia nodded politely but distantly at them and asked: "What are the patient's symptoms?"
Francis led them inside while explaining: "This patient's condition is quite complex. It's a rare disease. When it flares up, his whole body trembles and becomes weak, and his organ functions are also deteriorating..."
Sophia nodded and carefully reviewed the patient's medical records and various examination reports, getting a clear picture in her mind.
Before she entered the operating room, Noah suddenly handed her a document. "Sophia, please sign this confidentiality agreement."
Sophia raised an eyebrow. "I can sign the confidentiality agreement, but when are you planning to honor my request?"
Noah and Isaiah exchanged glances, somewhat hesitant. "Well..."
"Anytime." At that moment, a middle-aged man suddenly walked over. Although he wore a smile on his face, people could clearly sense the pressure of someone in a position of authority.
This face was very familiar - he seemed to be a leader of Novaria's NAS.
"Those are your words, no backing out." Sophia's eyes curved with a light smile on her red lips, looking innocent and harmless.
The middle-aged man nodded. "Naturally."
Having gotten the answer she wanted, Sophia's gaze fell on Finnley. "I'll be out soon."
Finnley nodded and reached out to ruffle her hair. "Go ahead, I'll wait for you outside."
